  1. As this thread has cost me significants amount of money it's time to get recommendations for the next "essential" item. Any recommendations for a thread guide - also seen it called thread pitch guide - lots on Ebay but ,I would welcome recommendations . I realise, " sadly", I might need to buy multiple ones for metric, imperial etc Thanks Curly
  2. Garth Realise these are sold, but do you remember where they came from? I would be interested if the current sale falls through. Cheers Curly
  3. If you have a non sealed battery, remember to check and top up the cells on a regular basis, learnt that lesson the expensive new battery way.....very easy to forget when you leave the bonnet on and trickle charge through the cigarette socket.....
  4. I washed my half hood and reproofed it with Grangers products - as i have a big seven sewn on the top it did leak through the stiching. I then went over the inside seams with clear bathroom silicon sealant, left it for 24 hours and used talc on the sealant to prevent it sticking to the hood when rolled up. Not sure if it will solve the problem with the zip in hood but worked for me :-)
  5. I have a Soft bits one on my 2003 SV but did see some interesting other options at Oxted Trimming about 2 years ago when they were making me a tonneau cover.
  6. Hi As I already have the tubes , can you put me down for: 1 red bag 1 black bag Thanks Martin
  7. For the mirror I use heavy duty Velcro means that when it gets knocked off the adhesive pads stay attached and it's a simple reconnect of the hooks needed. So far it's lasted about 6 years......
  8. I ended up with a motobike battery with a similiar failure You might which might be more readily available - took the banner banner into shop and matched it by size turned out to be about 2 mm bigger so battery tray needed "adjusting"
  9. Have you telephoned Caterham to check availability I got four 195/45/R15's last week despite the website showing them as out of stock, ordered Monday, delivered Tuesday
  10. Can I go down on the list for two please 😶‍🌫️
  11. The socket set will probably be OK - I needed a bolt splitter to get one off Axle stands will make it much easier but I did manage to get under a lowered floor with it flat on the drive - just expect a few bits of skin left on the drive. Seperately roughly how much is the retrimming
  12. As my fan wasn't cutting in I've ordered new radiator/thermal switch The old one had a compressed copper washer - the new one from caterham came with normal flat steel (?) washer I've fitted the switch with the new washer but get a small leak - any idea where I can get a compression washer to fit - local motor parts shops don't have them and I can't find anything on the Caterham store? Alternatively is there any other option - gasket sealent etc etc that could be used? Cheers Curly

    Floor rivets again

A thought rather than good advise -instead of drilling out the existing rivets, what is the overall opinion of drilling new holes and addingmore rivets?
  14. I managed to knock off a 5g weight of one of my wheels (teach me for cleaning them properly )- what is the collective POBC advise? 😶‍🌫️ Do I a) not worry -I do not feel any vibration or change b) get them rebalanced - immediately or when I get around to it? Cheers Curly

    MOT question?

Might you have a small leak in one of the joints in the exhaust system - had a similar problem a few years back CO low as pulling in air from loose joint - re sealed all the joints - never had a problem since
  17. Have you tried resetting the inertia switch? Had a similar problem that a reset seems to have solved?
  18. rather than drilling holes Go on a diet (yes I am a lardy SV owner) cheaper than any carbon
  19. Have you tried tightening them a bit first? Never had trouble with mine so equally surprised
