  1. I have two cabinet sets from Machine Mart one almost 20 years old- they have a range of grades and colours. They used to have some VAT promotions that helps
  2. Another vote for Mullan's
  3. Hi My 2003 SV K series, half tank of fuel was 565Kg when I did the iVA process in 2021 - used the local recysling cemtre to get it weighed enroute for the Blue slip - biggest issues I had was getting the 100mm ground clearance and the fact there isn't an engine number - Transport NSW gave me one to have stamped on. Good luck Martin
  4. HI Sorry for the delayed reply - back in Sydney - all good, I think I have had a small leak for a long time and just reached the point where the system was feeling a bit parched... Ended up putting in about 2 litres over a couple of days and since then it have noticed no drops or level changes but that the temp is running about 5 C lower than before - strange how cooling systems work when they have coolant in... Yes I did ship the car to Aus but it was shipped full of fluids just dry for petrol, so can't blame the shippers.... Can recommend the Great Ocean Road especially from Lorne to Apollo Bay - they clearly designed if for the Caterham, with pullover spots for slow vehicles that people actually used!!!! Had a fantastic trip - 3500km in a week, just 2 hours needing the half hood and mostly empty roads. Cheers Curly
  5. Hi Have k series and noticed yesterday water temp war rising rapidly when slowing down/stopping at lights. Air temp is about 20C ( In Aus on Great Ocean Road). This morning found empty expansion tank and small drip on bottom hose of radiator - managed to tighten hose clamp but need some more coolant - can I mix anti freeze/any specific type needed? Need is to get home - back in Sydney 1000km of mainly highway driving Cheers Curly

    Upgrade advice

Andy, Best wishes with treatment - I don't know your driving level so please take this the right way -for me the best upgrade I ever did was driver training, you have a great day and can get even more out of the car (and any others you own). What ever you choose definitely enjoy the car as the other best upgrade is using the car as often as possible. Curly
  7. Are you planning keeping a showroom appearance car or one you accept minor cosmetic marks? There is no wrong answer - only your own answer I have 18 year old SV with painted fibreglass with carbon fibre protectors - yes there is some stone marks and a few star cracks (plus plenty of other marks/scratches on the rest of the car) but I enjoy every moment in the car, taking care but accepting that the car was bought to use. What ever you decide enjoy !!
  8. Sorry for the slight hijack. Having fun adjusting ride height to meet Aus rules of >100mm ground clearance - have adjusted the front to meet that for the sump. Where do I measure the ground clearance (at back and front) to get the back 15mm higher than the front? Thanks in advance Ciurly
  9. I used the washing machine - the two part Nikwax clean then proof - worked a dream just a bit clunky as the buckles and press studs move in the drum but otherwise easy.
  10. Hi POBC (again) Need to fit new rear Spring Damper assemblies to my 2003 SV that I have just imported into Aus (wish I had noticed this before I shipped the car..... My assemblies has the part number 75527-ASL on the damper - the current one on the Caterham site: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/dampers/675-damper-and-spring-rear-2003-m2-adjustable.html are part number75531 ASL. Anybody know if these are the same? Cheers Curly
  11. POBC Have just imported my 2003 SV into Australia and need a minimum 100mm clearance as part of the registration process. Have the normal road adjustable platform but at fully wound up they only gives 80mm under sump so planning to lift the platform onto the upper circ-clip on the damper and try again. Then I noticed these "FRONT DAMPER EXTENSION WIDETRACK" on the Caterham parts site https://caterhamparts.co.uk/dampers/455-front-damper-extension-widetrack.html Has anyone used them and where do they fit on the damper - above or below the collar? DO they increase the ride height? Any other suggestions to adding ground clearance (other than fit a dry sump ) Thanks Curly

    Tool kit

I went for a few Wera kits that cover most of the above Wera 05056490001 Tool-Check Plus Tool Set, 39 piece Wera 6004 Joker Set 1 Self-Setting Spanner Set, 4pc, 05020110001 Spare throttle and clutch cable along with a Gerber and a couple of extension rods but agree the AA or equivalent card is your best friend. 13. In the need to increase airflow out of the engine bay I was wondering if reversing the ducts so the vent faced back along the side panels would allow air to flow through the radiator and then exit. Just a thought - but interested in the POBC knowledge
  14. Yet another vote for Classiccarleds - vast improvement and easy fit
  15. Just got a set direct from Luke with some customisation - very happy and match the Caterham ones that were in the car from 2004 with twist buckle. Easy to over over the phone, excellent price and delivered in less than 3 weeks - they are part of the Corbeau seat group. Much cheaper than any of the other options I looked at.
  16. HI Anybody use 4 winter tyres? They are: 255/55R18 105V Used for 1 winter and stored in dark, they have more than 5mm of tread. They will need to be collected from Nth Surrey, that can be early December after current travel restriction are lifted. Sold the car so have no use for them and would rather see them used than scrapped. Cheers Curly
  17. POBC I am exporting my 2003 SV K series to Australia so have to comply with the no asbestos rules. Any thoughts on if there is likely to be an asbestos in the car? I don't believe there is any. The car has the original clutch, gaskets etc, brake blocks are new this year. Thanks Curly
  18. Anyone tried Michelin Pilot Sport 3 for road use? I am emigrating to Aus later in the year and looking to take a spare set otf tyres and as CR500's are no more looking for alternatives for 15" rims and ZZR/ZZS are difficult to find at the moment.
  19. Be careful not to overfill I did and it leaked acid - good excuse for anupgrade but definitely not advised...
  20. Thanks SM25T has confirmed he has got some but thanks for the other offers
  21. Hi Need to reinstall seatbelts as planning to take car to Australia. So far haven't found any supplier that has just the stalks/ can tell me the origin of them to try a scrap yard etc Have the inertia reels still fitted but need 2 stalks - part with socket that you fasten the belt to. Hope someone might have them unwanted in the garage. Car is a 2003 SV incase that makes a difference Happy to buy/donate/pay P&P Curly
  22. I used to knock mine off on when fitting hoods/half hoods so now use heavy duty Velcro so easy to remove/replace - has never fallen whilst driving.
  23. Just fitted a PC680 vertically in "normal" place on shelf down from/in front of ecu. Have re shaped/adapted the standard banner tray/clamp - seem solid with some additional rivets fitted in same place . Haven't tested as need some longer cables - anyone know the rating of the cables?
  24. Sorry for the slight hijack.. Have another problem with a non sealed battery - I over filled the cells (my mistake) and it overflowed in the car :-( So I want to move to a sealed battery but have a few questions.. Would you go for a Varley Red top 30 or use it as an "excuse" to change to the Lithium 5? Or is there a better battery to choose? If I go for the Lithium 5, I believe I cannot use a CTekMXS5 maintenance charger - is that correct -what is the best equivalent one? I will be taking the car to Australia once the housing market restarts so need include that in the planning. Cheers Curly
