  2. Hi Nick Do you have any pictures of the offending bolt/UJ? Cheers Mark
  3. Come on, someone take this off my hands before it ends up in the recycling. As stated, for a small donation to NTL I'll install Windows XP or a Linux of your choice Cheers Mark
  4. Replied. Thanks Phil. Cheers Mark
  5. Thanks guys, first refusal to davedlr, then Phil G. Cheers Mark Edited by - spiderlane on 25 Mar 2013 20:46:40
  6. Hiya, I used to run iTunes on it a few years ago (on Windows XP) and it ran OK. Not sure how the current version will run though. I think the processor is a 2.4GHz Pentium P4. Just in case it's not clear, this PC has no operating system installed on it at the moment. It does have a license for Windows XP Home Edition however, so for a donation to NTL I'd be prepared to find an ISO of the install and do a base XP installation. Cheers, Mark
  7. Having a clear out and I have a Dell Dimension 8250 desktop surplus to requirements. * 1GB RAM * 120Gb HDD (I've just formatted as a blank Linux ext3 file system, so you'll need to install an OS of your choice on it) * ATI Radeon Graphics * Dell keyboard and mouse. * 4 port USB PCI expansion card In full working order, was recently in use. Would just like it to be used by someone, so free to anyone who can pick it up from Coulsdon, Surrey. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8100/8586324890_ba2e34fd35.jpg Cheers Mark

  10. R400 Duratec Coil Cover : SOLD One of these -> http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=3839 Great condition. On a couple of corners you can see the shape of the glassy strands of the matting through the gelcoat (see pictures). 12. Quoting Martin Jeffrey: I think you are worrying about nothing, fit a road wheel if you can & you will find it a lot easier to move the steering. Enjoy the build & do you have the technology to post any pictures? Seconded Thirded. The rack will feel stiff until either the road wheels are on or the steering wheel. As long as it's smooth across the travel you'll be fine (IMHO having built 2 cars) But we all love to see build pictures so get posting :) Cheers Mark

  14. Hi I used this stuff Heat Shield Material to cover the outside of the footwells and stuck it on with clear silicon. I retrofitted it after I'd built the car - tricky but not impossible. Made a very welcome difference to long drives on hot days. I believe some of the newer cars already have such insulation fitted at the factory - so if it's a new build you might not need to? Cheers Mark
  15. Here's one (nothing to do with me) When I was after one I set up an automatic search on eBay and waited for one to come up at the right price. Good luck Mark
  16. Hi PAG I have a 2010 R400 with Dry Sump and after I built the car I asked Caterham (via James Gibson) how to check the level. This is what he reported back. Dry Sump Triangular Tank oil level check. To check the oil he needs to look at the flow of the oil running through the baffle (engine running) then switch the engine off and watch the oil settle. The oil level should be no more than 1/2" below this baffle. It is sometimes easier to see this with a torch. Hope this helps James It's pretty hard to check with any degree of accuracy even following the above procedure so I just make sure that it doesn't settle too far below the baffle. Cheers Mark
  17. Apologies if I mis-read the instructions - I thought was after Andrew Payne on 10th November so in the "reserve" list so to speak. Have responded to your email with details. Thanks for organising. Mark
  18. Not really sure what phenolic is, but is this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHENOLIC-SHEET-TUFNOL-SUBSTITUTE-600MM-X-400MM-X-3MM-/121001143819?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=420098737234&hash=item1c2c3aee0b&_uhb=1 of any use? (that eBay seller does various sizes it seems) cheers Mark Edited by - spiderlane on 16 Nov 2012 22:30:02
  19. Hi Jonathan, I'll take one of the spare ones if available please. Many thanks, Mark
  20. I mounted the unit in the boot but fitted the optional (and expensive) remote control panel just by the drivers left knee. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2695/5716760064_ec605af85d_z.jpg Cheers Mark Edited by - spiderlane on 16 Oct 2012 14:02:08
  21. PMR = Private Mobile Radio (I think). Here are some pictures of my Starcom Digital installation. Used in conjunction with a CB radio here. Cheers Mark
  22. @Roadsport06 - SV or S3?
  23. Agreed it does seem a bit of a poor arrangement. I assume when they made the change to metric chassis, they took the opportunity to do something about it and added the lower fasteners. On my earlier car it started to rub the powder coat off the chassis rail, so I added some foam strip for the nosecone to rest on which improved the situation a bit. Is yours an SV? I seem to recall that this fixing method was only used for SVs (but could be wrong). EDIT : just re-read your post, yours is an SV. Cheers Mark Edit : typos. 24. Hi revilla Depends upon the age of the car. My first Caterham (SV, 2004 vintage) had no fasteners at the bottom; the nosecone just rested on the horizontal chassis rail. It moved alarmingly when you rattled the nosecone about, but never came off. My current Caterham (SV, 2010 vintage) has dzus fasteners at the bottom which make the whole arrangement much more stable. Suggest checking if you've got fasteners which haven't been done up properly. Cheers Mark
  25. I asked a similar question here -> http://blatchat.com/t.asp?id=201545, so I'd be very interested in what options are available.
