  1. +1 for Paul Richard's suggestion #5 - now 8 years on and works well.
  2. I've just fitted the Schroth 6 point from CC - it is easy to fit and much easier to adjust than the Luke 6 point I had before.
  3. Flywheel 1 - Stone 0 (but I did loose a washer in the gap once, stayed there until the next engine out).
  4. ....unless you are intending to drive the car on track, it is essential that the catch tank is closed off and vented, to help prevent oil spills.
  5. Check the chassis in the vicinity of the lower mounts for cracks as a result of diff movement.
  6. Pre S Type leather seats from 1994, no head rests with the hole plugged with a plastic cap, so they could be fitted if a pair located. Good condition, just requiring some elbow grease with leather cleaner and restorer following storage. No rips, just some scratch marks on the driver's seat and this seat show more signs of use compared to the other. No broken wires or springs as far as I can tell. Collection only, but I can help meeting up or bring to Curborough sprint weekend in late August (provided the event happens). Please PM me with an email address for photos. £150 Thanks. Malcolm
  7. OMG not the EP90 v grease discussion again....
  8. #7 Thank you, John. I can see that will make the task much easier. Malcolm
  9. Agreed about extraction and recovery, but It was slightly tongue in cheek, as I suspect they'd never trust the competitors!
  10. Do you think competitors could be trusted to 'self certify' scrutineering checks on personal safety equipment, thus avoiding handling of equipment? (I know the risk is likely to be low, but one must consider the 'confidence factor' when a stranger has a contact with the inside of my helmet looking for the safety standard sticker). malcolm
  11. Two things to consider - try replacing the HT coil, if it is old it may fail when hot. Make sure you get one with the correct voltage rating (there may be a ballast resistor) otherwise it will kill an electronic ignition unit (guess how I know!) Hot starting can be improved with a wide open throttle. The pedal must be depressed to WOT slowly so not to activate the Weber acc pump jets and flood the engine. Malcolm
  12. Not sure what the current CC supplied fuse box is now, but consider some tape over the relays for security; mine had a tendency to drop into the passenger footwell after a curb or two...
  13. Hard pushed to get 200 bhp out of a VVC, especially on a plenum. Looks like Douglas Valley is back with his old b@llocks and wishful prices.
  14. The reason why the chassis lug is orientated that way on older chassis (mine is 1994) is that they were originally for the pre S Type seat mount bracket. Malcolm
  15. From what I recall (before I removed and dispensed with the rear arb altogether) the 'over the top' arb is close to the central rib on the diff. I filed a bit off the diff.
  16. David You could use a plug compatible Emerald, keeping the original EU1 loom, remove the gear cogs/ innards of the idle stepper (to prevent any inadvertent activity when powered up) and set the idle on your TB spindle set screw. Check the TPS is working (the wiring inside corrodes). Obviously you'll need a rolling road session cost to factor in. (I've not actually done this, so it's abit of guess work, there maybe someone along to correct me!) Alternatively there was a recent thread about fixing the EU1 stepper motor circuit board. Finally, I was able to get a brand new old stock EU1 TB on eBay, they do come up from time to time. Malcolm
  17. Yes the Merlin supplied pump is slightly wider than the plastic cradle, and I modified mine to fit.
  18. Come on guys, keep your virus conversations on the appropriate thread. Got to put the engine back in and fit a nice new Schroth 6 pointer. Malcolm
  19. The drain is in the aluminium sandwich plate, giving about a 90 - 95% oil drain.
  20. It is possible with care to remove the top cover, however, you are working blind for some of the bolt removal / refitting. The important / difficult bit is relocating the selector plate in the slot in the lid Just done this on another car, it's a bit of a pain, slow, but doable. My car has a drain and a top cover filler fitted with a cap / dipstick, fitted by BGH at a previous rebuild, and I can highly recommend both.
