Hi Revilla, Couldn't be better, I'm near Daventry and the cars being re-built by Nick Potter in Market Harbour so your on route when I go to collect it. I just want to make sure she's ok then swap the rears and give it loads on the loud peddle as it will have been 6 months of waiting since the car was all but destroyed by a fire

    4x4 tyres

I will have a set of 5 265/60x18 tyres available to sell shortly. They will have only been used to travel from my local Mitsubishi dealer to a tyre depot (about 28 miles) where they will be changed for a set of All Terrain tyres. I'm not sure what make they will be but I am looking to put them on piston heads / ebay once they have been taken off the new car. If anyone is interested let me know via blat mail please.

I'll check with Nick Potter who's re-building my car at the moment, I think my original wing may well be usable if he's not thrown it out. I'll blat mail you tomorrow

    4x4 tyres

That's a good point my current Shogun always shows a lower speed than the Sat Nav, and I'm sure the Sat Nav is right as when I use it in a Truck (calibrated tachograph) it say the same as the Truck speedo.

    4x4 tyres

Hi Mort, Thanks For that. Looking at my existing Shogun I reckon the 265R65x18's will be fine. Only slight question is speedo accuracy but I normally go by the sat nav anyway. 4x4 styling has got a little silly I have to say, the new model has big Crome mirrors and steps, be covered in mud before it's a week old. 4x4 tyres

Having driven 4x4's for years I'm just ordering a new one. I always fit BFG or General All Terrain tyres but the new shoguns SWB comes with 265/60x18 tyres and I can't find any All Terrain tyres in that size (guess its down to the low profile) I do a fair bit of off road stuff and road tyres tend to struggle at times. Anyone got any ideas on options?
  11. I have a 58 plate in good condition that I'm looking to replace around March next year, is that too late? I would look for a trade in value and then try to sell privately for the same

  13. As someone who makes car graphics I'd be very surprised if this is down to the quality of the paint finish. Water with a little fairy liquid is used to allow the graphic to be correctly placed, a squeezy is then used to expel the water solution. This will completely dry out and the fairy liquid will do little to help remove the vinyl after 48 hours. The issue here is vinyl cost. Generally sign makers / printers hold stock of quality vinyl in small amounts, top end vinyl can be purchased in 1 metre lengths at various widths and colours. Low quality vinyl (comes off very easily, upto 3 years later) comes in 50m rolls only, as it's not a popular product line. So unless your making loads of race numbers your'll use better quality (5-10 year vinyl) to keep your costs down. Even 10 year vinyl will come off cleanly with careful heating (use a heat gun not a hair dryer) and heat a number evenly for about 20 seconds, off she comes. Then use IPA and a cloth to remove the adhesive.

  19. Hi Ivan, I'd call Caterham Midlands and get a price from them. I'd think it would be very fair and stress free. If they need to see it and getting it there is an issue I'd happily trailer it up for you. Kev

  23. Welcome to the mad house. On the assumption that money isn't a controlling factor, I'd go for the R. Most owners end up wanting more power, better this, better that. The higher up the chain in standard spec you start the better. If your used to a reasonable bike then the R will be much closer to your expectations, I assume that you've driven these cars from a Caterham showroom and as you said only for some few minutes each, in which case I doubt you were really "pushing on" when you own a car and have got used to it you will use the top end of the rev band much more, this is where the difference between the two is to be found. The SV option is good for touring, simple because you can get more in.
