  1. After seeing this am glad I arranged for Eric at Cotswold Caterham to fit one for me.
  2. Ah, in that case will pass. Had in mind using in two different locations but my car is too small. Pity a looks ideal otherwise.
  3. Steve, impressive machine. Tempting but does it dismantle for transportation? Keith
  4. Sorry, I've not read all contributions but you might have a look at what Pro-Bolt offer. www.pro-bolt.com

    Tyres

On a 2-week trip to France was worried about the A048s for long distances in wet conditions. Ended up opting for Nankangs as Rainmasters weren't available in 185x60x13. Not sure of the compound (believe Demon Tweeks offered no choice in required size) but the tyres performed well in all conditions.

  8. In the 7 on Severn Bridge last week a lump of something hard fell from a truck, bounced in front of the car forcing me to duck behind the full screen. Luckily, the "thing" smashed into my offside headlamp with sufficient force to push back the bowl. Obviously I felt peed off about the incident but now appreciate it could have been a lot worse. What if I'd had an aeroscreen and the lump bounced high enough to hit me in the face? Would a helmet have been sufficiently protective?
  9. Spotted this 7 heading out of Chepstow towards the FoD. I'd decided to give BX a run and was making for the M4.
  10. We managed for quite a few years without any sort of hood. Even in UK it rains less than you think and usually it's possible/best to just keep going. In really heavy rain we'd stop and use an umbrella but that happened only a couple of times. Eventually we got a half hood but it was rarely used. With a "new" car we are back to nothing......
  11. Adam is right about the ECU. On my 1998 1.8VX it was an MBE but dont have a record of the number. My local rolling road man found the aged software incompatible with his kit. The car came with a heater which we hardly ever used. A bigger issue was dealing with excess heat particularly in the passenger footwell - we seemed to fix that eventually with loads of insulation on both sides of the bulkhead. I found a Haynes Manual in Oxfam which gave details on processes like changing the cam belt.
  12. No, but for the bulkhead we use a MUSTO waterproof back pack. This is rectangular, just right the right size and versatile. Ours was bought cheaply from a clearance outlet shop.
  13. Earlier this year sold some bits to go on a 550 mile BDR resident in Kent.
  14. John Wilcox Race Engines might be able to help. They prepare BD engines.

    Trunnions

My old H-reg De Dion had Trunnions like my '98 live axle Classic. So there was quite a long overlap.
  16. Very pleased with the axle James built for my old car. Always remember his reply when I asked about getting a more powerful engine. He said most people don't know how to get the most out of what they already have. A wise man!
  17. Nice to see a reference to (David) Vizard. Knew him quite well and remember helping with the Avenger Drag car at Santa Pod. Apologies for old blokes ramblings!
  18. Hi Sorry you're having problems. Sounds like the channels are a bit out as your screen stanchions fitted the scuttle fine. Plus the Brooklands stanchion fitted both my cars. To use the channels you bought would seem to require you elongate holes in the scuttle and stanchions which is bit unreasonable. Think you need the genuine Caterham channels. Best of luck Keith
  19. Agree with Elie. I'd check bushes first. Cheap and relatively easy to fix.
  20. Just watched Caterham Car's Video for the 60th and this car is featured.
  21. White with black stripes obviously heading home after the 60th. We were returning from a visit to Darlington and a bit too early to see a mass exodus from the Birthday Celebrations.
  22. Thanks, will give it a try. Not worried about damaging the glass.
  23. Looking to change screen. Removed the bottom strip from frame but can't get the glass out. Any suggestions appreciated. Keith
  24. Spotted at about 1900, heading up the High Street towards Gloucester. Black/Red.
