  1. Sorry that what I meant, did have the small resister to begin with but the led flasher unit is a much better fix
  2. Did mine a good while ago, my light bowls are chrome on brass 5" bowls , covered with masking tape, the hole cutting was ok with a drill but annoyingly the masking tape lifted a bit of the chrome , not too visible, just annoying, the punch looks a good idea and should do the job better than with a drill. You may need a relay if you don't have LEDs in other lights, bit in archive about this.
  3. I ran one on my vx for a good few years before I air boxed it, quality was good, know a few who had them same time as me and are still running with them on.
  4. Search Vx silencer In the archives, quite a bit in there.
  5. There were at least 3 different side exit manifolds from the factory, early cars had small diameter header pipes 1 5/8" diameter and a 2" silencer. The later cars used the race headers that were 1 7/8" and more equal in length and think still fed a 2" silencer, albeit a larger diameter. I would think this is what you have. The jpe was a special and had very long primaries, the 4 into 1 collector was part of the silencer that was 2 1/2" diameter with not a great diameter silencer, it was very loud. Had all of these on my car. Went along with a better 4-2-1 design as the engine was updated . And use a large long silencer. Most of the manufacturers BTB etc will supply these and as mavic has suggested this might need the collector modifying.
  6. They are good on carbon dash, if a little fiddly to put on, still on my dash year after I put them on.
  7. I have a mocal sandwich plate on the original filter housing and the pipes go backwards under the throttle bodies and I have the filter head where the battery used to be, just in front of the drivers footwell. If you want some pics will take some tomorrow.
  8. Does anyone have any trade tickets for Thursday or Friday , willing to donate full price to charity of choice. Kevin

    VX Dry Sump ?

I have the Titan pump not the pace but think they both go on drivers side, also I did cut out the footwell and have a pace tank. There is a brise tank that fits in front of the engine. There should be lots in the archive about this. Sorry couldn't help more. Ps qed only did the Titan scav pump when I did conversion as this is what the vx race cars used.
  11. Sorry to here you are selling Tony, good luck with the sale, if the lottery comes up I will be giving you a call, on my wish list
  12. A quick google search suggest that flow rates may be better/ greater with oval over round for a given cross sectional area
  13. So would there be a formula to match the flow rate to that of the 2.5" tube ? the tube is completely bespoke so could I just make it the same height at a greater width, as an example if it was twice as wide as it is now, it must somewhere between these sizes have a similar flow rate, perhaps, exhausts are very magic as we know as very few seven designs have an optimum set up to accommodate the cars size and design. It is very difficult to get to the back of the car with large exhausts and nice low ride heights. It could be done by intruding into the passenger boot area though . RJ the weight thing was more to do with it hanging on bobbins at the rear of the car, my car is not light, it has a boat anchor engine 😬 and me as the driver
  14. this project hasnt moved for a while, i have fabricated an oval tube to replace the round (2 1/2") i have calculated this to be the same in area, cannot be done by just squashing the tube as the area reduces. have made a oval to round transformer for the ends to get bends onto oval section. the bit where the side exit joins is a bit of a tough one as the oval tube needs to have a slight bend in it before coming up to meet the transformer. I am sure a small diameter ali, carbon or tit silencer across the back will still have a good effect of reducing the noise. The big silecer i had on the rear before was heavy!

  17. Hi Carsten It is my car in the first set of pics, I have a 2L vx engine, the car was very quiet with the extra silencer, I recall 87 db at Caldwell park with air box as well, with just the side exhaust it does around 96- 98 db at 5000 rpm static, but did go over the 98 drive by at Donny. I did eventually remove the silencer as it meant I had to run quite high, the tube under the chassis is the problem, I have fabricated an oval tube to revisit the idea at some stage. Ps the air box build is also in my photo albums.
  18. Hi Ian Had a few failed atempts with can foam, but have found it very easy with the two pack.

  21. Got some in a pack from B&Q
  22. Check the Venturi bolts under the carbs, I had one fall out and the Venturi was spinning at certain revs, good idea to wire the bolts up, they should have a hole through. Edited by - k.russell on 20 Jun 2013 12:52:07
