  1. Thanks all. I have throttle bodies and a titan dry sump pump so access is a bit tight. The top bolt is a hex head and the bottom is a cap head and I can't physically get a socket on the top one. I can only think it was fitted with an open ended spanner when the engine went back in (I had some upgrades by Paul Exon at the time). I'll have another look with a clearer head but I think I might need to pull the steering column and use a spanner 🙆🏻
  2. I've no intention of getting a new one just yet- it's a Powerlite unit that's only been on for about 18 months. There's a local auto electrician with a good reputation should it come to it. Next question is...how do I get the top mounting bolt off? I wasn't remotely close to being able to get a socket on it as it fouled with the starter body.
  3. I finally got round to having a look at this over the weekend (two young boys running around and holiday took precedence). I checked all earths which seemed OK and then connected the starter directly to the battery. Exactly the same thing happened which leads me to believe the starter is goosed 🤔
  4. Thanks Jonathan. 1. Battery was showing 12.5v when tested by the Green Flag man. 2.I had a quick look around but nothing seemed amiss. I'll have a good look tomorrow night. 3. Just the once about 3 weeks ago. It started on the button and did 120 miles on Saturday morning. Left it for a few hours, started first time, drove 16 miles then no re-start. 4. I had a search and came up with quite a few topics Some further reading tonight for me.
  5. I thought I'd take the 7 up to Biggleswade on Saturday evening to see the Lancaster flypast. I stopped for petrol en route, jumped back in to restart and was met with just clicking from the starter motor. Breakdown recovery turned up and we then tried to jump start it but without success. He thought the starter motor has had it. I got the car recovered to home, left the battery charging over-night and was still getting the clicking. I'd been down to Buckmore Park and back on the Saturday morning with no issues. I'm a complete numpty when it gets to electrical issues so was wondering where I should start looking? A new Powerlite starter was fitted approximately 18 months ago and I've just had a small alternator and pulley system fitted about 6 weeks ago.
  6. I have an early 90s paper version of a Vauxhall somewhere and a PDF for the K series from 2002 if that's any use. I'll scan the VX version once its been found. Edited because i find the iphone a PITA to type on Edited by - Jon Stewart on 28 Jul 2014 21:42:30
  7. Orange and black spotted in John Warner car park in Hoddesdon. Also spotted half hour earlier on A10 link road at Stansted Abbotts. Edited by - Jon Stewart on 17 Jul 2014 10:15:34
  8. It's worth checking the fan is connected the right way round! Mine had been re-connected the wrong way after a refresh last year and was blowing instead of sucking and showed the same symptoms as yours. I have no issues with temps other than over-cooling and I usually need to tape up half the nose at about 15 deg C ambient temps. This is running with a standard radtec rad, 11" Spal fan here IIRC, 82 deg drilled thermostat, dry sumped with oil cooler.
  9. Check the wiring from the alternator. I had the same symptoms and one of the small wires had become brittle.
  10. Just over £2k IIRC. Give Bruce a call and he'll be able to run through the options (bonnet, scuttle etc)
  11. there are some here Let me know if you can't view and I can send them on.
  12. I found the same thing and had to fit longer studs. I then had the problem of some of the nuts bottoming out before clamping as some of the nut threads hadn't been cut deep enough. My local machine shop drilled the nuts through and they've been fine for the last 8 years or so. You may also have to grind some of the de dion ears as it might foul the inside of the wheel.

  14. I recognised it from the Vauxhall stickers 😳 as Anthony sorted out a few for mine. I saw it taking shape over a few years....extremely sad outcome ☹️ ☹️ ☹️
  15. You might find the longer studs bottom out on the nuts. I had mine drilled out which resolved the issue.
  16. A pair of tyres in k90 (hard) compound. Both have about 4mm tread depth and date code of 4407. Photos available. Collection or gonads only. Yours for a donation to Nuke the Leuk.
  17. Hi Matthew, I previously had the competition 4 into 1 with that same tank but then i don't know how short my shorthened footwell is. The manifold in the photo was from a company in Basildon (but i think you know that already ) with some slight changes to lengths from the jig they already had. I don't need to pay any commission do I?
