  1. I guess that it's time for the 25 year service and that I should finally replace the distributor cap etc. Could anyone point me in the right direction for the correct parts as there is very little on the Caterham site. Dizzy cap: Is this correct? Rotor Arm: Is this correct? HT leads: Is one of these correct for a 1.6 supersport? If so which one? Grateful for any guidance.
  2. How long has it stood for? This was the state of my in-tank fuel pump after the car had been sat for years with old fuel while laid up... That gunk is not corrosion, it's the stuff that precipitates out of old fuel. It wiped off with a kitchen towel, but had gunked up in the pump.
  3. Feedback: I went with the Wheel Specialist in St Albans in the end. Good service and very pleasant to deal with. Here are the results: I'll probably take my 14"s to them in the New Year...
  4. Thank you. I'll call them but the other thread about rusty 7s does put me off...

    Rust!

I'm going to try to do mine by just getting the car up on ramps. Hopefully that will be high enough...
  6. I'll speak to both. Never used either, but others have also praised PGM. I'm just in Richmond - finishing my rebuild. I'm aiming to get to the meets, but can't bring a7 just yet.. Hopefully MOT possibly this month but probably early in the New Year...
  7. Thanks BigCol. Sounds like I'm not far from you. I'll speak to both, but PT is a lot closer than PGM.

    Rust!

FYI - my assembly guide suggests that the handbrake cable should be cable tied to the chassis diagonals, not the A-frame. Maybe that has changed for the newer cars?
  9. As above really. I'm at the end of my rebuild and the first thing to do after the MoT will be a full suspension setup. Recommendations for garages would be most welcome. Thanks.
  10. Thank you all - it sounds like there's little in it - the Toyo's may have it as these tyres will have some road use during the summer as well.
  11. Thank you - that's my next decision - whether to go with 205s at the rear. I prefer the look, but the balance is important too.
  12. Thank you. I'll use the car year round and for winter I have my original set of 14s, which currently have (legal) 021Rs, which I guess I'll change for rainexperts when the time comes. The 13s are for summer and track days - I anticipate wet weather driving will be rare on these...
  13. As above really. I need new sets of tyres for my 13" rims and my 14"s. The 13s are for summer and track days. Currently on old R888s, which have cracked while the car was standing for the last few years. I don't think R888s are available anymore so I guess its a choice of the above 2 tyres. I guess I'll stick with 185/60s, but would welcome comments about going to 205 at the rear - I think both tyres will work on a 6" rim in 205? Also any recommendations for compounds - I think only the Toyo has compound options in 13"? I would be grateful for any recommendations.
  14. I've just replaced my MC as part of my rebuild. I went for the uprated, which I had before. As part of the hunt for a better deal I spoke to a number of other retailers. I was told that AP made both MCs for Caterham (std and uprated) and only Caterham and Redline are authorised to sell them so I just had to take the £400 cost. In case it is of use to anyone, I took a pic of the box with the spec of the uprated MC:
  15. So I finally got round to fitting the poppers on my boot cover today and I can report that the tool above works very well. The only shortcoming, if there is one, is that the hole that the punch makes in the material is not quite big enough for the popper neck, but that is easy to enlarge with a punch or similar.
  16. Reviving this thread as I'm now gathering quotes. I tried Wicked Wheels, who recommended that I contact Primo Wheels i Woking, which I think was previously part of Wicked Wheels. They are not the cheapest, but they are reasonably local, which is handy. Does anyone have any experience of them? All I want is to have my Minilikes stripped and powder coated in black.
  17. Oh yes, I'll give them a call. Thanks.
  18. Can you recommend someone to repair? Soft Bits have declined.
  19. Thanks Guys. I do run with a spare, so that's good to know. I think Oxted do easy in zips...I'll investigate...
  20. Started mine in January, but mine is a rebuild from a bare chassis so I've had a fair bit of work to do just to get the starting position of a kit. Almost finished now, working on it only at weekends.
  21. I am considering a half-hood. Does one provide enough protection from rain coming in from behind the doors? Also is there much to consider between the Oxted and the SoftBits ones? I think I prefer the attachment of the side straps on the Oxted...would welcome experience of one over the other.. What are the downsides to a half hood?
