Tank & Top Hose, in all the installations I've seen the top hose invariably gets in the way but shouldn't cause any problem. Try pulling the tank away from the top hose by cable ties from the top union to the nearby cross member. Fit a non return valve to aid start oil pressure. When I had an apollo without one the oil pressure took a couple of seconds to build up & register - even worse if the car had been stood for a week or so. £60.00 is a good investment to get quick oil pressure at start up when it's most needed. I guess the alternative is always to crank the engine over while the immobiliser is on before properly firing it. You would need from Think Automotive: One CVF7-4 which is a ONE WAY VALVE FLAP -4JIC, and two HETF7-4-3 which are the two fittings -4JIC FML STRAIGHT FOR -3TFE Edited to say don't forget to change your alternator belt BEFORE you feed one of the oil pipes through it. I just put some 1" x 0.25 foam on the cross member and where the tank meets the footwell to stop any vibration then manufactured a strap to hold the tank against the footwell, the strap is just above the join in the tank. Didn't make a plate to sit it on cos I've got a drain plug in the bottom of the tank. here How do you get the dead flies off your teeth....... 😬 R5AAH

HELP! K series fitted with FIA cut off switch. As my 7 hasn't been used for a few weeks I decided to turn it over for a few seconds to splash a bit of oil about & change the position of the vales/pistons/etc. Immobiliser on, inertia switch disconnected, FIA Switch on, ignition on, pressed the big red button, engine turns, count to 5, finger off - job done. Ignition off BUT ignition light glowing red. MMM... Turn FIA switch off = ignition light still on. MMM... FIA switch back on, switch ignition on = ignition light goes off! ☹️ [scratched head mode} Go though same routine = same result [scratches head mode off] Leave the car for an hour = ignition light still doing Christmas tree light impression. Disconnect battery = light now off. Far too dark to go upside down into the footwell in the garage & I'm away for a few days now but where do i start fault tracing when I get back to it? Thanks for all the advice/comments Update I've been playing around with a earthing problem I've had for a few weeks, new earth connection fitted from battery to chassis seem to have cured that one. Could there be a connection? (No pun intended!! ) Didn't have the problem with the previous 1.6 SS engine & standard Rover MEMS & the problem doesn't occur regularly. I had the car stood out in the cold/wet for a couple of days at the end of July & it started OK. Car has started 1st time every time over the last few days - since a new earth connection. I have a battery master switch fitted so will switched battery off for 3 days without charging it & see what happens How do you get the dead flies off your teeth....... 😬 R5AAH
