  1. 1. I was still running in the engine on the Bowlersport Mk 3 last August. Seems driver #2 didn't respect the suggested rev limit. 2. No way - he might find the new boost control.
  2. Could the Comp Sec drive your car at Gurston pls Gill? He's too polite to ask. Or perhaps try a Busa? ....anything but Class 2, which will be boring for him.
  3. Sorted - thanks to Andy Belcher @ Tech 7 who also lent me a tool for removing the old seal *thumbup*
  4. Anyone in Surrey happen to have a spare for a sierra diff? I can find them online at bearingkits.co.uk, but hoping to fix the leak over the bank holiday/early next week if possible! (99% sure its this thats leaking - its not the breather) AB Edited by - alan bowler on 4 May 2014 08:16:18
  5. Pics sent (not particularly good ones!). Dimensions 150 wide, 100 depth (as a sofa), 85 high. Pulled out its fine for me to sleep on (6'). AB

    O/T Futon

Double futon/sofa, good quality from "Futon Company". Mattress is BRG 😬 £70 collected from Surrey. BM me for pics if interested. AB
  7. Have spotted this about 20 times over the weekend so far with various passengers, zipping past my house. A new toy ? AB (was loading my 7 onto trailer on the Causeway on Friday)
  8. Hi Revilla, Diff innards is just what was left over after swapping from open to LSD, so no crown wheel (which wouldn't have been free ). Unlikely to be useful. But free. AB
  9. Pair of 7" Caterham standard chrome headlights - good condition - £30 + P&P Sold to Smitters Pair standard headlight brackets like this - need a little TLC but sound - £15 + P&P Sold to 2GBR FIA rollbar padding - the expensive/dense stuff - enough for curve and side of SLR hooped cage. £20 + P&P Sold to 2GBR Drivers side low back glass fibre race seat - interference fit for S3, no brackets - now taking up too much space so £20 collected. Halfords yellow 2 tonne trolley jack - won't quite go under my 7 - good condition - £15 collected Standard Caterham open diff innards - unlikely anyone would want this, but seems a shame to chuck it - Free. Can take stuff to Surrey meet, or pickup from central London possible. AB Edited by - alan bowler on 5 Apr 2014 17:16:08 Edited by - alan bowler on 6 Apr 2014 10:59:11
  10. A few class 2 sprinters are using 195/50x15 Yoko AD08s. They fit under the stay fine on mine, but the wing didn't line up that well, and needed some bodgery to reseat outwards to avoid the tyre sticking out on the outside IYSWIM.
  11. Get the head checked out professionally (hardness/porosity/condition) before you waste any time with it. AB

    Camping

It is also useful to find out from regular sprinters who not to pitch next to Members of the MG car club Wiscombe sychronised midnight burping team. Mr. Mark "Snores like a Bison" Durrant. Anyone with a dodgy tow car alarm. 😔
  13. Likewise - I have some standard Rover K ones I'm about to dump. Don't think they are hollow though. AB
  14. Got it - you have mail back AB Edited by - Alan Bowler on 17 Feb 2014 22:13:10
  15. I need to clear the garage for a while - does anyone need an engine crane for a few months for their winter project? Collection from Claygate, Surrey. AB
  16. I need to clear my garage for a few months... anyone want an engine crane for a while (free loan)? Located in Claygate, Surrey.
  17. Is the half door a CC one with the bulge, and cut-outs for SLR cage? If yes, I will take it. AB

    Sprint tyres

Hi Andrew Rules are such that there is always a class for every car on any tyre. If the sprinting bug bites, you will want to get the right tyres to put you in the lowest possible class, but this can become expensive when wheel/tyre combinations are not strightforward, tyres aren't available, and if rules change. I'm sure the intro to sprinting day will help with advice on all of that. For a 1.6K, if you are 5 speed, you can probably complete in class 1. Popular tyre for class 1 is Yoko A539. But CR500s not allowed. If its 6 speed and/or Supersport, you are probably in class 2 or 3. For class 2, popular choice is Yoko AD08 (but difficult to find now, and needs 15" rims), or Yoko A539. CR500s not allowed. (And new ADO8"R" not allowed!) For class 3, CR500 is allowed. Others tend to use soft compound Avon ZZR or Kumho Ecsta (and if K series on those tyres, also tend to have dry sumps to cope with the impact of high grip on oil surge). Yoko 48, Toyo 888 also allowed. Best advice is to use what you have and know for first few events, and not spend £££ upfront other than mandatory safety equipment (suit/boots/lid/gloves/rollover bar). AB [Just don't ask whether ZZRs are better then Kumhos as you will fall asleep while the "experts" witter on for hours]
  19. Offside rear damper failed? So how's the new year diet going? I'd better check mine then, after the abuse you gave it.
  20. I spotted this on pistonheads. Hopefully we'll see it in the paddock next year. Would be hard to miss!
  21. Excellent article John - Llys-y-Fran in driving rain as a second event, and you didn't give abandon the whole thing as a bad idea - respect 😶‍🌫️ Heater... I spent a while negotiating the price of a trailer with a Yorshireman recently, and we eventually settled on the asking price... AB
  22. No more damper restrictions in lower classes? AB
