  1. I'm replacing the fuel filter as per Myles really useful site...however on the new (random name but claimed to be a replacement) fuel filter it doesn't line up... When I screw the u shaped pipe into the bottom of the filter, and then the whole assembly onto the hard pipe to the engine, the u shaped tube always ends up on the wrong side of the filter!? Have i got the wrong part? Or are you meant to adjust the locking but on the fuel pipe somehow?
  2. You can wiggle it through - mine was damn fiddly though, and it got stuck several times...and I'm still not sure to this day how I actually managed it in the end. Removing boot floor is definitely a good idea, if not manadatory. I think in the end I had to undo the bottom bolt of one damper, so it could be moved slightly out of the way. My main problem was trying to get the end going through the car over the top of the diff and past the damper, whilst the other end kept hitting the brake caliper/disc/hub.
  3. pah! you should have seen the diesel powered trailer-mounted thing we were using - bloody terrifying! The cut off switch went all round the outside as it was easily big enough for a tree to catch you on the way in and suck you right through the damn thing!
  4. Sorry - missed all the replies to this - i'll tip in some waxoyl and then hit the aluminium tape hard! My car tops out at 597 so I have plenty of headroom left in the specification of the tape! 😬
  5. Really Not sure if serious...although it did hold my old rear wing together for over a year and 3,000 miles 😳
  6. I am fitting a new rear wing as the old one ripped off - taking some of the nuts and bits of the sideskin with it. All the holes will ultimately be hidden by the new rear wing BUT I want to cover them over with something to keep them watertight. I was going to cut some discs from really thin sheet ally and bond/rivet them on, but was worried about the rear wing not sitting flush to the sideskin. Would aluminium tape be ok? Will it bond well enough if it is also held between the wing and the sideskin? Any other ideas? The holes are too big to fit new rivnuts/peel rivets etc etc...
  7. They list that Mahle part number on the website I found too - which looks promising...no idea what the quality will be like...or if that really matters in a filter? So long as it doesn't disintegrate
  8. Glasgow - the delivery charge was £7 regardless of the number of filters I ordered...so I actually ordered 4!! Assuming it fits you're welcome to take one for the cost price + 1/4 of the delivery charge? Came to £26 (adding VAT) for 4 so say £6 for one? I can drop it off to you or you can come and collect? Edited to say - I found the site by searching for the caterham part number GFE7020 - this is the unipart number and is one of the many part numbers listed in the description on the web site I found. So I have taken a punt that it will fit...I'm hoping to change mine in two weeks time, so I will know for definite then. You're always welcome to take one in the mean time and try it? 10. PP - lol - thanks for cheering me up1 David - will PM you!
  11. Thanks chaps - I am in darkest west Scotland...the exhaust is off the car at the moment so I may even drop it in to the MOT place and ask them....looking at it again it may also need to be done to keep it structurally sound... quick pic of the damage You can see the main crack where the pipe goes in but also some damage to the bottom. The car is not immaculate at the moment so I am mainly worried about functionality rather than looks! Edited by - irrotational on 4 Feb 2013 11:18:11
  12. Due to running it over with my own car (don't ask ) my silencer has a crack in it where the "in" pipe meets the end face of the silencer. Will this be an MOT fail? I'm not sure gases would leak out of this point...
  13. Is there anyway someone could get in to the storage for you and post them over to you? You could then weigh up spending a bit more on that versus much cheaper track tyres. Could you source wheels locally and get a tyre rack welded up? There is a virtually never ending supply of tyres down to wear bars that you can get for free and/or minimal cost, similarly you can spend slightly more and get slicks...

    Diff Oil

For the 6 speed box there is a certain oil recommended that helps with notchiness when cold...a search of tech talk should reveal it...I can't remember
  15. Hmm - mine's a 97 car and over-reads by 10%...I wonder if that's what I need....

  20. Have you read the DeDion failure thread? You may have been quite lucky! Can you take a photo and email to Ian to document?
  21. is this the bit where you have to hold up your left and right hands (with your thumb, forefinger and middle finger sticking out) and realise no matter how hard you try you can't rotate one to match the other!? It still makes no sense to me that it's impossible
  22. Quoting Jonathan Kay: But for use on public roads cars should be as quiet as possible because it affects other people. Yes!! you run them over when they step out in front of you because they can't hear you...
