You can wiggle it through - mine was damn fiddly though, and it got stuck several times...and I'm still not sure to this day how I actually managed it in the end.
Removing boot floor is definitely a good idea, if not manadatory.
I think in the end I had to undo the bottom bolt of one damper, so it could be moved slightly out of the way.
My main problem was trying to get the end going through the car over the top of the diff and past the damper, whilst the other end kept hitting the brake caliper/disc/hub.
