Dannylt - thats very kind - just be careful, you might end up with my wifes suitcase full of clothes!! 😳 --- this is a local sig for local people!
  2. I will look at the receipt again to see if it says what oil was used. Good to know someone else has the same thing - was a bit worried the clutch was failing again or something... --- this is a local sig for local people!
  3. I am new to caterhams, and bought a 97 1.6 superlight privately and recently. When i first start driving the gear changes seem quite difficult, have to put a fair amount of pressure on the gear lever and maybe have two or three go's at it to get it to engage properly. Once I have driven it for 10-15 minutes it seems to get a lot better and soon becomes no problem at all. It's a 6 speed caterham box that had a new clutch and CRB fitted at a good 7 garage about 9 months ago. Is this a standard thing? I have sort of assumed its just sticky gearbox oil that is much better once it warms up? Basically is there anything i need to worry about? should I get it checked out? Any comments gratefully recieved. --- this is a local sig for local people!

So whats the concensus then? will sevener's mainly be at the Ring on wednesday evening or sunday? or both!? Ive got the Wednesday off to travel so could possibly do the Ring on Weds evening - only problem is potentially crashing the car before Spa!? Also - do the club hire helmets? --- this is a local sig for local people!
  8. Geoff - is there a set proceedure for letting us know if we have got entry to an event? I need to book up some ferries for Spa if I have made the cut --- this is a local sig for local people!

what is the standard way of getting to spa? eurotunnel to calais? Is it *only* 3.5 hours? I will be setting off from St Albans on Wdnesday night and need to figure out a cunning plan to be in Spa by Thursday morning... Can't find any Belgian ferries!? --- this is a local sig for local people!
  10. Yes thats all i did, disconnected the battery, left it for a couple of minutes and reconnected the battery. Then you just press one of the fob buttons several times to re-sync the fob to the immobiliser. --- this is a local sig for local people!
  11. Arent batteries based on chemical reactions? so even if the electricity isnt flowing it just means the reaction slows to a crawl rather than normal speed, so eventually the battery drains away to sod all... --- this is a local sig for local people!
  12. I do take the steering wheel as well - still plenty of novelty value for me at the moment 😬 --- this is a local sig for local people!
  13. Just posting to say a big thanks to Nick! I didnt realise the IT method of turning it off and then back on again also worked for cars! Disconnected the battery to allow everything to reset, then reconnected, and resyncd the fob and now everything works a treat! Just to double check - what batteries do the fobs use? CR2032 or something --- this is a local sig for local people!

  16. Nick - I will ring you at lunch time if that is convenient. Little bill - yes I did! Alex Gurrs 97 superlight... Went for my first proper drive yesterday and it was great!! (if a little cold at the end when the sun went down!) Had great fun sitting in the pub looking out the window at people staring at the car and wondering where the steering wheel was! Due to curent lack of immobiliser I am being extra cautious.... --- this is a local sig for local people!
  17. I have recently bought a Caterham 97 Superlight, and I cannot get the immobiliser to set. Pressing the lock button results in 3 "clicking" noises from the car about 0.5-1 second apart, so something is happening. However the light never starts flashing (even after 2-3 day wait!) and the car can still be started. I have tried pressing the lock button several times in a row (5 and 8) to see if it needs resetting/resyncing and this makes no difference. The other button, which is worn, but I assume is the unlock, produces no effects whatsoever, no clicking or anything. Is there any obvious wiring or other checks I can do to try and narrow down the problem? I am a complete numpty about cars so I have no idea what an immobiliser or wiring should look like!? Any help very gratefully recieved! --- this is a local sig for local people!
  18. i thought there was another thread similar to this which involved pouring oil into/over random bits of the engine, so that it is greased from the start... as you may tell i am by no means technical but if you search for similar threads you should find it... 🤔 --- this is a local sig for local people!
  19. EDIT spotted an old number on an old sign (it started 081!) converting to 0208 it still works and they seem to have a lot of garages on offer - don't know how far their reach extends... 0208 882 8575 price ranges from £9-£12 a week near St Albans area I am desperate to get a caterham, but need somewhere to park it! Not nescessarily a private garage, a barn, warehouse or some such would do (provided I can get in and out as required) anything thats enclosed/vaguely weather proof will do. Also if you know of anyone who lives/works in the area who might be interested please forward this on to them. Any help gratefully recieved! 20. cool - my first outing and my first spotting!! had a great day - wasn't cold at all (due to the hats!). Was very impressed with the car - i was a passenger in one a couple of years ago but i'd forgotten how crazy it was! wife loved it too - saving the pennies now!
  21. hmm i drove a blue caterham through redhill on saturday (on way to south downs) although sadly it isnt mine! :-( hired from caterham for the day and I'm ashamed to say I didnt notice the plate on it! I had a brown woolly hat and the wife had a weird colour pinky/purple/brown... Had only just picked it up so was being ultra-cautious! anyway apologies if it wasnt me and ive stolen someone elses "spotted" --- this is a local sig for local people!
