  7. Standard engine (#1) used for one race/rally this year, performed perfectly. Second engine (#2) as described, bought *brand* new, ran in, then blueprinted and rebuilt by Mistral never been used since. Was kept as a spare incase #1 went bang but never been needed. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  8. Everything you need for a bike engine installation and even a spare engine :) Engine #1 2000 Yamaha R1 Standard, EXUp removed. Used for 1,000 miles in car. Supplied without clutch (basket yes, plates/etc no). Bought from breaker with 'low mileage'. Engine #2 2001 Yamaha R1 Bought brand new by myself from PDA. 1,000 miles running in before being given to Mistral Performance Engineering.. Stripped, blueprinted, head skim, mild polish, three angle valve cut, slotted cams. Barnett spring clutch conversion, heavy duty springs (NO clutch slipping issues). Kelvar frictions, Barnett steels, billet swing arm. Carbon-fibre clutch cover (very important bit that). Baffled sump, relief tulip. ZERO miles since rebuild, has been kept as my fancy spare engine. Ancillaries available - Standard carbs, rejetted (Dynojet kit) and setup on TTS rolling road. ECU, coils, loom (stripped loom). Micron Serpent headers (thinwall stainless steel) manifold. Carbon fibre oval Micron race exhaust. Engine mounts for installation. Can supply a set of 41mm Keihins if needed too (~£600). Would prefer to sell the lot in one go or at least as complete engines. Everything you need for an install bar the propshaft. Price guide, standard R1s seem to sell about the £800 mark, the Mistral engine (#2) has had over £1,000 of work carried out on it by them. Exhaust system cost over £1,000. This is a proven package, and ready to go. graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / 07747 60 60 66 Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk

    Stack dash ?

Agree with the posts on the MXL, having used MyChron kit for years the software is excellent for road, track, rally, hillclimb and their products are very powerful. Value for money and functionality beats every thing on offer on the market by a significant margin. With regards to customer service, I had a problem with my old MyChron 3's rpm cable. I assumed it was just a faulty sensor, however, after two emails to Aim (answered straight away) a pre-paid box arrived, I popped in the logger, it went off to Italy and a week later they sent it back fully operational. No cost. The new MXL is a stunning piece of kit, and given the weak US dollar it can currently be ordered from there for a bargain price of £700. 8mb of memory, custom channels, full trackmapping, gear indicator (software/sensor driven), direct-to-ECU recording etc. etc. The only possible reason I can see to buy a Stack is if you *have* to have an analogue gauge. Other than that, it's not even a question... 11. If it's just the plastic bit on the end of the gear lever it's about 50p from a Ford specialist. I've had one chewed up before and it makes selecting gear a right pain... ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  12. It's a Zip Eagle II with a couple of very special engines (the 250E I wish to get next), one engine set for long circuit and one engine for short circuits. It's an ex-Euro-championship winner with all the toys, feel it's time to scare myself absolutely stupid and see if I can handle the thing :) ...So it might be up for sale quite quickly afterwards :) ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  13. Ballastic 250N gearbox kart, Zip chassis, Yamaha YZ250 engine (single, 5speed), two runs since refresh. Four billet Brembo calipers, cross drilled ventred discs all round (x4), steering mounted bias adjuster, electric cut-off. Dual brake pedal (can left or right foot brake), high back seat, tacho, temp, rear alli rad. Immaculately prepared, used as purely a fun toy (not raced). Sold with long circuit bodywork (wing, sidepods, front cowling). Various spares (sets of wheels, tyres, bodywork etc). Not for the faint hearted, but if you fancy something challenging to drive (145mph kart that can lap Cadwell quicker than the British Superbikes) you can't get more than this. If you're quick, I can even throw in a free trackday at Cadwell Park (full circuit) in it on August 13th and can give an induction into running the kart on your first outing. Geniune reason for sale - to make way for new 250E. £1,300. 07747 60 60 66 / graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk pic1 pic2 pic3 ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  14. The Quaife is a sequential mechanism only, it's just a Type 9 with a camdrum selector. The Elite is a true sequential. When we ran a Quaife (early box) it was great depsite many false neutrals (just make sure your rev limiter is working), but a very heavy box that wore through dogs very quickly. I'd be looking at a rebuild every six months or so (which is a pain in the ass as it's the entire engine + box out). I'd go back to it if needed, but Drenth/Elite would be first on my list of choices. 17. Be sure to check the tilt of the engine, apparantly it's quite fundamental with the R1 (carb efficiency I believe). And if you haven't got a copy of the R1 manuals (pdf) a can email them through. 18. And one other point with powershifters (ie. paddle/button shifts). The problem is you need some form of 'cushion' when changing incase the gears go dog-to-dog. When a solenoid (which has to be pretty meaty to change on a quaife/elite) goes dog-to-dog due to it's speed/strength it will quite easily bend shift forks/mechanisms. You need some form of buffer, allowing you to push through the dog-to-dog (as you do naturally when changing by hand), most commonly this is through the form of a pneumatic actuator. However, that has the drawback that you must either carry (and top up) a bottle or install and on board compressor. The best solution I've found so far (for bikes) is the Kliktronic (www.kliktronic.co.uk) which is an electro mechanical solenoid with a variable stroke. The stroke getting stronger as it increases allowing it the buffer needed. However, I have not tried this on a quaife/elite and would be impressed if it could deliver the extra force needed (but again, it is a good starting point). Photo of system on bike-engine - www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/temp/pics/semi-auto.jpg The difference with the bike vs car engine would be that the mechanisms would mount/sense/run off the gear-lever itself. 19. Some relevant info. Translogic do the flatshift kits for bikes. It' s basically a position sensor on the gear lever. It recognises the movement of the lever, cutting the spark between the the disengage and engage point. Pretty much a hard-cut revlimiter as you push through the gears meaning you don't need to lift on the throttle or dip the clutch (dogbox). They don't require a lot of wiring in, basically just the same as a rev limiter with an extra sensor. I guess one way of doing this would be to set your rev limiter slightly lower and then bang off it and change gear then (not really the best way though!). I would see if Translogic do a kit for car engines...
