  2. Brand new set, they've been chamfered 45degrees to aid bedding in but otherwise unused. It's the newer RS15 compound, generally 5-10% better across the range (at stopping from cold, stopping from hot and the actual operating temperature range available) than the RS4-2s/RS14s. Yours for £110 plus postage. 07747 60 60 66/graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  3. As it says, got a voucher here for £100 at Donginton Park Leisure Ltd I'm never going to use. Yours for £50. Valid for the usual test days, trackdays, corporate days and package thingies they do. 07747 60 60 66/graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  4. BDSR40 Mikunis (x4). They've been rejetted with a Dynojet kit and setup on TTS' rolling road for a relatively standard R1. Comes with a carbon-fibre backplate suitable for a Pipercross airfilter (I have a Pipercross filter to give with them but it's in need of replacing). They're fitted with the QB Carbon high-flow trumpets (reputed 4bhp increase). This is the ultimate 'bolt on' carb setup for an R1 (and may be modified to suit others) short of spending £1,000 on a Keihin flatslide installation. Sold complete for £125 (the trumpets alone are £130+vat). Alternatively, I can sell with a complete R1 engine (less clutch) for £750. The engine is a '99 and includes the All Bikes sump baffle and relief tulip. photo1 photo2 07747 60 60 66/graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk Edited by - gee_fin on 17 Feb 2005 11:42:55
  5. The cars I've tried with buttons (by your thumbs) are a bit fiddly, I personally would have preffered to have the buttons on the back of the steering wheel as that would require less hand dexterity to hit each time. Either way though, paddles are for more natural to use than buttons. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  6. Oops sorry, been a bit busy, missed this one.... Been running a Kliktronic + Translogic for a couple of years now. When working, it's a joy but it does take a bit of getting used to. If you flick the paddle ala video games 1/20 gearchanges will be a false neutral, you have to squeeze the paddle each time, takes a little getting used to but as said, when working, jeez... It won't do any damage whatsoever to your box as the R1 (despite, what to me are false rumours) is plenty strong gearbox-wise (it's the standard clutch that's weak). I cannot overstate the importance of a flatshift on a bike engine, it opens up a new area of driving to you. You may think that you can shift quickly without one, and you probably can, but the speed that a flatshift adds cannot be understated. The other hugely important thing that it allows is mid-corner gearchanges without upsetting the car, very useful when you've got six close ratios to play with. The paddles mean you always have your hands on the wheel and again, until you've used them, you won't believe how much time and freedom they allow. I am considering changing the system this year, either to the Techtronics/KCW or ProShift system, as this has an auto-blip on the downshift and ignition cut (on the downshift) meaning you never need to use the clutch except on initially moving off, so hello left foot braking everywhere... Welcome to pop over for a try or to have a nose at the installation if you wish. Graeme. 9. Have a quick nose at - www.superkarttrackdays.com For upcoming tracks. I was mainly using Whilton Mill and Reading (for tooling about). Three Sisters is a nice track for them. You've got Shennington, Little Rissington and (another tooling about track) Birmingham Wheels spring to mind as well. I also did two races in the very clubman series over at East Kirkby (£15 entry free! started off the back). Great fun, very friendly, very laid back and an amazing experience. And yep, I've played around with gearbox karts for years now as they are the cheapest way of going very quickly and a real challenge to drive. You step out feeling you've accomplished something by just not dying :) Joking aside though, I will be getting another one in the future, I just need to shore up some funds for the Rally Barbados as my title sponsor went bust! :( I'm happy to help give a hand the first time you run it as well, just to make sure you're 100% on how to run it and suchlike. 10. All info no matter how much or how little helps :) Will add to database update tomorrow. Will then be linking in manufacturers details tables and such forth too. 11. Creating a searchable database www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/weight/ that I would like to make into a useful tool for people to use when comparing wheels/tyres/cars/components etc. So, this is a quick request to email in, post on here or carrier pigeon any weights you might have :) The more information I can get in there the more useful it will be come. Cheers, Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  12. Yep, Whilton Mill was just tooling around really, nowhere near what the kart can do. Just a day for sliding out of corners - we were lighting the tyres up on the exit of the 80mph right hander after the start/finish straight. Great fun, be slow as :) Never really tried to set laptimes alight in the kart, rather just had great fun with the power and challenge of driving it :) Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  13. Ballastic 250N gearbox kart, Zip chassis, Yamaha YZ250 engine (single, 5speed), fresh engine (just two hours running) run only on Red Line oil. Four billet Brembo calipers, cross drilled ventred discs all round (x4) new brake pads, steering mounted bias adjuster, electric cut-off, high back seat, rear alli rad. Recently overhauled and serviced by Red Line. Used as a fun toy. Sold with long circuit bodywork (wing, sidepods, front cowling), bodywork is chipped from use but in full working order. Sold with two sets of slicks on rims (soft/hard compound) and one set of brand new soft wets on rims. Not for the faint hearted, but if you fancy something challenging to drive (145mph kart the can lap Cadwell quicker than the British Superbikes) you can't get more than this. With the advent of superkarttrackdays.com you now have even more options on getting these things out on track - F3-F3000 speed for £100 a day! Sold with a box trailer to carry the kart. Basic two wheel trailer, big box for spares that kart is strapped down on top of (no need to disassemble kart, can sit on there with wheels & full bodywork). Nothing fancy but has served me well. £1100 with trailer. 07747 60 60 66 / graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk, located in Stamford/Peterborough. pic1 pic2 pic3 Videos of kart in action - www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/videos/2004videos.html ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk Edited by - gee_fin on 7 Feb 2005 12:50:29

    Cutting Carbon

Jigsaw upside down in a vice, fast speed, feed the carbon in. Wear a mask, good idea to masking tape the line you want to cut and mark with a pencil beforehand too. 15. I'm selling an old Pug 205XR, basically the perfect learner/shopper car. 80,000miles, red, 1.1petrol, somehow gets astronomical miles per gallon (40mpg) for a petrol, in very good nick, Clarion stereo, couple months tax, will come with 12months MOT. Never been ragged (cause it can't be, it's a 1.1 :D), £600, Stamford area, 07747 60 60 66. Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  16. The little Hella spots are incredible. Our sister car runs them - here here I'm going to fit a set in some carbon indicator pods next week (should just require opening out the indicator pod a little), they're incredibly bright - so much so that in some cases the car runs them as high/low replacements... 17. Hi All, Redoing my steering wheel and in my search for a wired boss KeithC (who regularly advertises on the Racecar forum) has offered a bulk buy deal on the LifeLine wired quick release connectors. These are identical to the SPA items - www.spa-uk.co.uk/pics/qrelease1b.jpg www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/steeringquickrelease.htm They are the usual quick/release connector but with the addition of an 8 pin LEMO connector in the centre. This means you don't have any unsightly wires hanging around (all your electrical connections can go through the centre of the boss). He can supply these complete (both sides of boss/connector, tool for removal) £165.00each (inclusive of VAT) if I can find a few more people. Bear in mind the SPA item is £210.83+vat from Demon Tweeks! If anyone is interested please drop me a mail, I'm ordering one regardless, but while the deal is on the table would be nice to take advantage :) Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  18. Early models of the MyChron 3 Auto had problems with alternator spikes frying the circuitry. This was rectified (boom boom) later on. Always worth just checking that this the one you're getting is a later model and paying close attention to wiring notes :) Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  19. Sold it a while back I'm afraid :/ I'd expect the MyChron 3 prices to drop significantly because of the MXL though, might be worth a look to see what they're at in the states :) Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  20. Some quick info - The MyChron 3 is the older version of the unit. It comes in the kart and auto format - the kart being battery powered the auto being 12v wired. Both units are great, lots of functionality, great software and very cost effective. The only downside I can see is that they look a bit 'karty'. I ran the Kart Gold version for two years with no problems, having just replaced it with an MXL. The MXL is the new release from Aim, basically, under the skin it appears to be a very similar theme to the MyChron 3, it has a few extra channels, a few extra lights but it's the same software (which isn't a bad thing) and they've improved on the aesthetics of the unit no end. Right now, with the weak US dollar, you can get the 8 channel MXL with all the bells and whistles for ~£600-700 - in the UK it's about £1100-£1400 (which, is still a bargain when compared with the equivalent Stack). The next version up of the MXL has traction control and more channels. Both units can be customised sensor-wise (ie. make your own, piggy-back VDO, etc) or can utilise a range of sensors from Aim themselves, it also hooks up directly to most common ECUs. My personal opinion is that there isn't any point in looking at another datalogging dash right now in that bracket. The MXL blows everything away on feature/values. A Motec ADL is a more powerful product, however, it is more than double the price for features most of us will likely never use or ever need. Pi, Astratech and Stack are vastly overpriced in comparison. As such, I would say grab an MXL from the states while you can! :) Graeme. ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
  21. I wouldn't worry about letting the sump sit an inch or so below the chassis line if it needs to (if this allows you to achieve the goal of not cutting the bonnet). Most important things to bear in mind are - - prop angles (vertical/horizontal) - exhaust manifold space (ie. preferably not through a chassis bar!) - carb float angle (should be the same as it sits in the bike). It looks like there is lots of room in there for it though, however, I can't tell accurately from the photo but I think it needs to be canted ~10degrees or so anti-clockwise - look at the line on the sump/engine (should be horizontal). 24. Shout at me if I'm wrong here, but aren't Avo oil filled and Nitron gas filled? Think that would be one of the fundamental differences... Hence why inboard applications using Avo dampers must be mounted vertically/angled vertically whereas others (e.g Nitron) can allow for horizontal mounting or inverted mounting? ________________________________________________________ graeme finlayson / tyre warmer / fluke motorsport graeme@fluke-motorsport.co.uk / www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk
