  1. On the A217 around 1715 last night - well done on sticking to the 40 limit. Looked and sounded great.
  2. Another question, are the spring damper units fitted "upside down". ISTR that they fit them the other way up on Supersports?
  3. I use Halfords domestic white touch up for the nose band, matches very well.
  4. Have a look for a car you could tolerate from their showroom stock and ask for the keys until yours is ready. Really shouldn't be this hard - especially as you have to pay in full before you even get your incomplete kit. Really do feel for you, this is completely outrageous
  5. for the CBS 48 LED, V visible in daylight and lights up the whole car at night. Essential safety upgrade
  6. Hi John, I did try, but working outside the lock up, car on stands, I couldn't get my head at anywhere near an angle that would let me see the sensor head (hopefully I have understood what I was trying to achieve?). I'd love to know how I should have done it, just happy it's working again, was getting me down. 😬
  7. Update: Bought new sender - very reasonable £62 Finally got around to fitting it today, gap set to 1mm, set off on test drive in eager anticipation and...................nothing, not a sausage Back to garage, scratch head, jack up car, remove wheel, scratch head again. I opened up the gap to 2mm, put it all back together and it all works perfectly Very happy me! Thanks for all the pointers guys, got there in the end 😶‍🌫️ Edited by - Garry7 on 15 Apr 2014 18:36:02
  8. About 10 ish this morning - GN61LHP (I think?), driving through Thirsk. I waved from my minibus full of Air Cadets. You were two up, lovely day for it, back to mine tomorrow
  9. VO03AOW, Northallerton High St, 4 o'clock. Bit wintry for an aero Blat Made me miss my car!!
  10. Thanks all for the advice / experiences 😶‍🌫️ JV - wire does not appear damaged in any way Mike - it's as close as I dare, last year it did as you describe, just when you really need it! MOCA2CV - like your thinking! I have no idea tho. Red light - looks like it's the £65!?!?!?!?!? New part. Think Ill go and pick it up from CC, can't face their p&p on top of that!!! (Original is only 20 months / 11k miles old). Thanks all.
  11. Thanks Martin, its set at about that - guess its a new sensor then?
  12. Ian - he had loads when we left him for you to pick up! Must have tidied up for the assessor 😬
  13. Dark Blue, 1030 ish we both waved at each other think I saw you again later in the afternoon around 1500 ish? Green with yellow stripe (R100SVN?) near the Open Air Museum, around 1430ish Mines the Blue SV with white nose band and stripe.
  14. Speedo failed on a Blat weekend before last, roads were wet and muddy. Cleaned the toothed wheel on the osr driveshaft and cleaned the sensor head. Speedo worked for about 5 miles then quit. Over this weekend worked for first few miles after starts then quit. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks
  15. Welcome Ant and Vicky, The build is a brilliant experience, and there is plenty of help available through the club I found the build was the very best way to learn about my car, literally every nut and bolt! Having said that, if you want to buy ready made, you can always learn as you go along. The advantage of "supervised" DIY servicing is that you learn all about the important bits under the guidance of one that knows - (CC won't let you anywhere near it whilst it is being serviced). Either way, the 2.0 is a great engine, enjoy the flexibility.
  16. Hi Malcolm, My 175 has the straight plenum and air box that John describes, you are welcome to have a look next time out f you like :-) Garry
  17. Yep, your numbers are the same as I got, and still have 10k miles later. Not sure you are meant to adjust tick over with that screw though? I have been told that it's a laptop job?
  18. For fitting the engine and gearbox - definitely up on stands - particularly so you can ease the tail of the gearbox over the crossmember at the start of the tunnel (also saves a bit of bending if your back isnt what it used to be ) Seat rails - washers underneath, you may need to file the round edges down a bit depending upon the chanelling underneath the car - I had to flatten a couple off quite a bit to get them to sit flush (2011 SV).

    Stone Chips

B&Q sell a rubberised roofing compound, Isoflex i think its called, comes in an orangy coloured tin for about £12 (i think). A couple of coats under each wing will do it. Ive done 10k miles in 18 months with no visible issues.
  20. From memory, for my build I drilled the centre of a 9mm socket to accept the bleed tube, undid the nipple initially using the socket drive then removed it and inserted the tube through the socket. For bleeding then undid / tightened the nipple by hand on the socket. Once finished finger tightened as tight as poss, removed tube and nipped up with socket drive. Bit of a faff but it worked fine and has lasted almost 2 years without issue The extender idea looks great but would seem to need fitting prior to attaching the bell housing to the engine? Otherwise the nipple you were removing/replacing would fall inside the bellhousing?
  21. If you have trouble cut the grommets in half and superglue them on, looks just like the real thing for IVA 😶‍🌫️ happy threading.

    BMW Diff non LSD Oil

Hi Andrew, welcome I built a similar spec to yours last year (just - 2012). Coolant was a little over 5 ltrs of G30, either do as Tom suggests or Halfords may do a small container of it if you want it pre mixed. The oil was nearer to 6 ltrs (my handbook stated 4.5 ltrs) I carefully measured 4.5 ltrs and it didn't even touch the dip stick. Having spoken to the engine guy at the factory we established that the handbook was wrong - not sure if CC have corrected it since? Have plenty of notes / photos if you get stuck Enjoy the build Garry
  23. Hi Tom, Good to have another Kent blatter around (Mines the blue SV with white stripe 😬)

    Heater vent

Im in the same boat as Big Col. Got charged to refit as part of the PBC, I seem to remember it fitted either way up and I chose the wrong way - nothing in the good old build manual 😔

    crunching gears

Big Col, Your overall experience ties in with mine - acceptable compromise is the way to work with them. I have alway found Mark to be very good (he has his own kit built R400D - so must have felt a bit of our "pain").
