  1. Spotted Sunday at 11.15 on M1 southbound, just north of A63 Leeds junction. Gave you waves and grins but you were too busy enjoying yourself to notice . Hope you managed to get off the m'way shortly after and on to something a little twistier!
  2. Just resurrecting this thread to add a tip I found worked for me when removing upper column this morning to replace with RapFix parts from 7 Tips Racing (quick release type so no steering lock etc). When clamp removed from upper/lower column joint iIcouldn't get the upper colum to budge at all by pulling from within cockpit. I applied penetrating oil to area where clamp goes and left it for 15 mins. I then turned the steering wheel to full lock and keep twisting to get the upper column to turn over tthe op of the lower column. This got mine moving nicely. I then continued gently twisting and pulling the steering wheel from within the car so only a small amount of pulling was required due to the twisting motion and no broken teef 😬. 3. I (very luckily) got my car IVA'd, registered, insured and on the road in a single day this time last year. The IVA was a re-test presented by Caterham Cars, for which they knew what needed to be done to get the pass, it having been the first (I think) amateur built car they presented at IVA. I turned up at the DVLA office in Gillingham with a load of build pictures and all my documents completed accurately and I was in and out in half an hour - 5 minutes at the desk itself. I'm not suggesting it's always that easy but it can be done, especially if they are no longer requiring separate inspection! Good luck
  4. to two lovely looking sevens, green w/ yellow stripe, in convoy going through Caversham (Reading) on Sunday morning. Hope you had a nice drive! Very jealous - have had to wait until chores done to get out for a blat. Now just waiting for SWMBO to get showered so we can get out in the sunshine .
  5. Rob! Great to meet you on Saturday picking up your beautiful new Roadsport SV Sigma 150 from Dartford after PBC. She looked amazing in green with yellow nosenband, great job with the build I had a great drive home after the upgrade to 150 in te nice weather. It was killing me to keep the revs low while the new engine parts bed in, but I'll be hunting the red line again soon! Good luck with the IVA and I hope to see you on the Oxfordshire B-roads later in the summer
  6. I know this is an old thread, but I found a cheap solution to this overheating footwell problem. I found some self-adhesive heat reflecting foil for £2.99 (incl. P&P) on ebay here and stuck it down the front and side of the pedal box. The footwell stays much cooler in summer, as do my feet! Yes, it's cooler in winter too but with the heater on and some thicker socks it's fine
  7. Welcome to the club! Sorry to hear about the leaky cap and peeling paint. I had the same problem when I built my Roadsport SV last year (standard master cylinder). I should think that the cap either got cross-threaded or over-tightened and after 500 miles the paint was lifting along the top-edge of the bodywork where the bonnet sits due to leaking fluid It took a remarkably small amount of fluid to do the damage. I got a new lid and seal from CC and it stopped the leak completely, even after some very spirited driving 😬. I think I'll go for some electrician's tape to neaten it up too, even though the paint has stopped lifting any further. Better to be safe than sorry!
  8. Saw you at about 3.30pm heading in the direction of Goodwood? We were in viper blue Roadsport with silver stripe and nose band. Amazing day for a blat!

    Rear end rattle

My rear-end rattle ("buzz") was the hood sticks coming over bumps or at certain revs. Bit of sticky foam strip between the sitcks, also between bottom stick and roll-over bar bolt cured that one.
  10. Cool, thanks for your reply. Do you know what time it starts?
  11. I'm hoping to head down to Goodwood on 24th April to watch the first round of the Speed Championship. Does anyone have two tickets I can use for myself and SWMBO? Looking forward to a nice drive down on the back roads Cheers!
  12. Just had the same problem myself. Went to use the car last weekend for first time in a couple of months and the brake pedal went to the floor. Definitely a faulty rear caliper as there's liquid on the floor under it but it isn't leaking from where the brake pipe or bleed nipple are attached. Have a replacement on order from Caterham and will return the faulty part so they can return it to the suppliers for testing and, if faulty, give me a refund on the new one. Caterham service also mentioned that in other cases of the fault appearing the hand brake had been left applied for several weeks, so I assume it is leaking from where the handbrake mechanism it fixed to the calliper. Mine was on axle stands with the handbrake off, but I assume the fault occurred while the car was parked in the garage before I put it up on stands to service. Ah well, only one day of fine weather missed as a result - should have it all fixed for next weekend
  13. Reg - I built a Roadsport 125 SV this year and had annoying noise like you described. Was a buzz / rattle that seemed to be coming from drivers side in front of scuttle area at certain RPMs. Tried peddle box lid, bonnet, windscreen, everything. Turned out to be nosecone vibrating against chassis tube and rear mount point. Fixed it by applying some some self-adhesive foam strip that i bought to run along underside of bonnet between nose cone and hard objects. That stuff has fixed a handfull of rattles for me. I know there are a million possibilities for the source, but this was mine. Just need to stop front suspension squeaking now...
