  1. All Thanks. I the car is EU3. I will try the easy fix with the ignition and the full version of Torque and then I might need to progress to Richard's solution. Cheers Jon
  2. Michael I took a few but I am not sure they would fit your requirements. Take a look at: https://www.flickr.com/gp/132460454@N05/28hc1M Jon
  3. Hi I saw a thread about using (cheap) ODBII scanner to read data off the ECU using a bluetooth scanner. In an idle moment, I bought such a device (KKmoon V2.1 OBD2 Bluetooth Interface Car Scanner) and hooked it up to an Android tablet using the basic Torque Lite app. It works fine on our tin tops (Volvo & VW) but no joy with the Caterham. I get a message saying it cannot contact the ECU. My 7 has the standard MEMS ECU that I know is locked (Northampton Motorsport could only read data, not modify). Has anyone got any experience of trying these devices? Should I try the full version of Torque (or something else)? I guess I might just have bought the 'wrong' device - there seemed to be many to choose from. Cheers Jon
  4. All I did not want to distract the other thread with the views of the 'experts' since I wanted to offer some thoughts from a (very much) novice. Firstly, the event was everything that attracted me to the L7 Club Sprint Series in terms of the members - there was fantastic camaraderie, amusing banter and for me as a novice, an endless supply of advice help and support. A big 'thank' you to all those who tried (perhaps in vain) to improve my times.. . Back to the event: Postives: an excellent venue in terms of challenging track, multiple layouts and associated facilities [cafe, camping, space], the garage, the double lap (a whole new adventure for a novice), and the Saturday night meal (even if the choral accompanyment from the locals was not appreciated by all... ). Of course, the amazing weather definitely added to the whole event. Issues: the experts have described the main problems but for me, two elements of Sunday had the most lasting effect: after walking the track "early" [on the advice of the Clerk of Course] at 0800, I started my first practice at 1215 (>4hrs later!); I then had my only timed run at 5:15, after a long wait in the pitlane contemplating a nearly 5 hr drive home after the end of long weekend. Both these issues did nothing for my driving on Sunday in trying to concentrate on the most challenging circuit I have driven. If the weather had been more 'normal' for that part of the world, I can fully understand how those issues may have led to a 'big off' or simply not getting a timed run at all, making for an even longer drive home. However, my rose-tinted novice specs mean that the positives far outweighed the issues and I learnt a huge amount thanks to the support & patience of fellow sprinters. Next year, Charlotte and I will have a different perspective when thinking about entering when we will be paying double entry etc, particularly if the event looks like it will repeat this year and there would be so little track time. Anyway, I will stick with the positives and once again, thanks to all L7 sprinters for a brilliant weekend... Jon
  5. PS Can I sit next to Oli and the TV as I will have my Welsh shirt and Australian flag ready.....
  6. Paul thanks for sorting this out - I am still 'in' for the Crown. I would like the Burger Cheers Jon D
  7. Hi if it is not too late, I would like to join for dinner too...? Jon
  8. It makes me feel slightly better that even the very good have their 'off moments'. Jon
  9. As a contrast to Rob's video of a fast lap, here is a very short clip of how not to drive the cross-over... Very many thanks to Mark for his time in cleaning out the throttle bodies so that we could run later - it was very much appreciated. Jon
  10. Thanks for the information - I did wonder about the 'Prisoner' comment since all other references I had seen were to 15" wheels. I have edited the original message to make the correction. Jon
  11. Hi I have a set of five 16" wheels that I took off my 2003 SV earlier in the year. They are (I believe) the original Caterham wheels from when the car was built - they are the 'HPC style' wheels. They have Avon ZZ1 tyres - I think they probably date from when the car was new so a little firm! The tyre on the spare wheel is virtually unused. The wheels are in good condition with only one having a mark on the face/rim. Pictures available here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j78oppyg4bi2mlb/AACInCJ7oIi9gZPSEkm5vTSsa?dl=0 I am not sure what they are worth - £300? but open to (sensible) offers. Jon
  12. Chris I am still planning to enter but may just leave it a another week or three to spread the load. I will want the garage space to get out of the sun in North Wales (in October) Jon
  13. Some great photos Becky. Interesting to see the different lines around Museum including a few quite wide ones... Jon, Charlotte & Kezia
  14. We did the training day last Wednesday - it was very good and we would highly recommend it to anyone, particularly any novices or relative newbies to sprinting. Whilst focussed on Curborough, the Simon and Adrian analyse your driving in a manner that is easily transferrable to other tracks/hills. They were very patient and delivered all feedback with humour and good grace, even when giving the same comment when the driver did not manage to put the advice into practise.... A great day was had by all. Jon & Charlotte
  15. Hi I am very interested subject to checking the dimensions will be suitable for an SV with widetrack suspension. Could you send some photos? Is the bed size quoted the dimensions inside the edges to the trailer and thus the max with of a vehicle? Jon
  16. Jonathan I am not sure if we currently have a Leicestershire AR - the position was listed as 'Vacant' in the recent LF. If anyone from Leicestershire/Rutland/North Northants is going to the meeting then I could collect if they are willing to bring back orders. Jon
  17. Thanks all for the advice - Titon was the unanimous shout Simon provided excellent advice as ever and has organised supply. Just need to invest in some tippex now to mark the correct positions Jon
  18. Hi I am after some advice on replacing the harness on the drivers side. We currently have the standard Caterham harness but the lap strap adjusters are down beside/behind the seats and not too easy to move whilst sitting in the seat. Since we have entered as a dual drive this year, spending time messing around with seat harness adjustments will be pain and could add un-necessary stress to the whole event. I have seen some replacements harnesses that seem to have the lap adjustment 'in reverse' which would seem easier. Can anyone offer any advice/experience of replacement harnesses that meet the sprinting regulations and are easy to adjust..? Thanks Jon & Charlotte
  19. Chris Thanks for the offer - yes please Jon & Charlotte
  20. Chris I should be flagged as a 'Dual Drive' with Charlotte Johnston who is not on the list..? From our previous conversation, would Charlotte be 670 against the 570 allocated to me? Jon (Davies)
  21. Hi Sorry for the complete numpty/newbie question, but how do I formally enter the Sprint Championship this year? I looked on Competitors Area but there is no obvious entry form... Perhaps I am not looking hard enough.. Jon
  22. Mark I am interested - I have sent you a BM Jon
  23. Graham I am hoping to join the sprint series this year so please put me down for a place so I can get some pre-season practice. Thanks Jon [Jon Davies]
