All I did not want to distract the other thread with the views of the 'experts' since I wanted to offer some thoughts from a (very much) novice. Firstly, the event was everything that attracted me to the L7 Club Sprint Series in terms of the members - there was fantastic camaraderie, amusing banter and for me as a novice, an endless supply of advice help and support. A big 'thank' you to all those who tried (perhaps in vain) to improve my times.. . Back to the event: Postives: an excellent venue in terms of challenging track, multiple layouts and associated facilities [cafe, camping, space], the garage, the double lap (a whole new adventure for a novice), and the Saturday night meal (even if the choral accompanyment from the locals was not appreciated by all... ). Of course, the amazing weather definitely added to the whole event. Issues: the experts have described the main problems but for me, two elements of Sunday had the most lasting effect: after walking the track "early" [on the advice of the Clerk of Course] at 0800, I started my first practice at 1215 (>4hrs later!); I then had my only timed run at 5:15, after a long wait in the pitlane contemplating a nearly 5 hr drive home after the end of long weekend. Both these issues did nothing for my driving on Sunday in trying to concentrate on the most challenging circuit I have driven. If the weather had been more 'normal' for that part of the world, I can fully understand how those issues may have led to a 'big off' or simply not getting a timed run at all, making for an even longer drive home. However, my rose-tinted novice specs mean that the positives far outweighed the issues and I learnt a huge amount thanks to the support & patience of fellow sprinters. Next year, Charlotte and I will have a different perspective when thinking about entering when we will be paying double entry etc, particularly if the event looks like it will repeat this year and there would be so little track time. Anyway, I will stick with the positives and once again, thanks to all L7 sprinters for a brilliant weekend... Jon
