  1. Nope its dead. 😬 C7 CDW
  2. Long primaries fill in a dip in the torque curve around 4000 rpm or so as far as I recall. You can feel the difference as they say. Verniers will correct the valve timing if it's adrift which is highly likely with the standard pulleys. Noticeable difference in torque. If your throttle body is the standard 48mm jobby into a plenum chamber, the 52mm body also increases the torque noticeably. All cheap options. C7 CDW
  3. The increased power per se doesn't do much. What you will notice is improved torque at the mid engine ranges. Others would have to give advice on the best option, but mid range grunt I think is more useful than top end power. C7 CDW
  4. Just though I would post here and thus kill the thread as I always seem to do. ☹️ C7 CDW
  5. Dave Walker mapped one of our 7s from scratch straight on the rolling road and it wouldn't even run on any of the base maps when we started. It took about 4 hours and was well worth it. C7 CDW
  6. Mmmmmmm! Multi-storey car parks. Heaven. 😬 C7 CDW
  7. Ok serious reply. Just under 120 at the end of the straight at Combe. Still felt well planted - steering not at all light. C7 CDW Edited by - David W on 12 Sep 2006 20:17:04
  8. Brain not working. 😬 It was a long and arduous drive back yesterday. Park Straight into Park.
  9. Had the car at Cadwell yesterday. Baking hot and fnatastic levels of grip all round. RS15s on the front and 1155s on the rear seem very nicley balanced. Very pleased with the RS15s. Absolutely no fade and awsome stopping power compared to Green Stuff. Scared myself silly on the approach to the Cramer Curves seeing how late I could leave it before putting on the anchors. Very late is the answer and only one excursion onto the grass as a result of finding that I could not scrub off speed between the turn in cone (set too early for a 7) and the actual turn in point - but it was close. 😬 Fortunately my co-pilot was watching at the Mountain so did not see these attempts or I think she would have had me black flagged in the interests of not claiming on the life insurance. 10. 550mph in a 747. The clams were delicious. 😬 C7 CDW
  11. Maybe Caterham are missing a tool at their factory. C7 CDW
  12. Steve, I'll see if I can email you a pic tomorrow as I'm out tonight. Blatmail your email address to me as you can't send attachments via the blatchat route. C7 CDW
  13. I think what others have done if you search the other threads is mill a few mm off the mating surface on the top chamber. A small amount (.5mm) can also be won by using a thin smear of gasket goo between the mating surfaces rather than the gasket, and another mm or so can be won by filing off the top highest edge of the plennum chamber. You can also ease the bonnet a little (ie bend it) to give a bit more clearance but you have to be very careful how you do it so it doesn't show. I stretched mine using a flat piece of softwood but marked the bonnet in one spot by using a too narrow piece at first. A piece of floor boarding about 6 inches wide worked a treat leaving no marks, but the initial damage was already done unfortunately. I assume you know about the VVC RH engine mount available form Caterham? It drops the engine a large amount to clear the bonnet but then you do need the dimpled cross brace. If yours is the race chassis so you can't replace the brace, it's possible to win a bit of clearance by shaving a couple of mm off the exisitng RH engine mount, but you would have to be careful not to weaken the weld at that point. 14. If you call Dave Walker he'll tell you how to make the adjustments. C7 CDW
  15. I just picked up a clutch cable from Redline that's reportedly a VVC one. It lacks the large nuts at the pedal box end and this is supposed to give more clearance. Haven't fitted it yet. There is also a bespoke chassis brace that replaces the one under the plennum. It's got a dimple in it to give clearance to the plennum. I'm fitting that this weekend. C7 CDW
  16. The other thing you can do is sit in the car at an undersyanding centre and adjust the Emerald in situe to meet the emissions test. Then re-set the map. C7 CDW
  17. Redline in Caterham have some in stock. I don't think the lower section is the same as the VVC as the 1400 plenum fits straight in the car whereas the VVC needs a modified chassis brace that runs underneath. C7 CDW
  18. Steve the 1155s were Redline advice. I'm trying them at Cadwell on Monday week so I can let you know about balance then. Redline supplied and fitted them. C7 CDW
  19. What's the dimensions? If we get a clue of the diameter of the complete ring it might give a clue to what it is. C7 CDW
  20. Redline found the broken mount when they were doing the brakes and replaced the socket head bolts with hex head ones. John reckons it makes it much easier to fit and remove as you can get a normal socket on the bolts. C7 CDW
  21. Just had Pagid RS15s fitted to the front with 1155s rear. Seem fine on the road and even get a good grip of the disks from cold. Seem to squeal a bit just driving along though. Noted that the pads come with a leaflet that says "not approved for road use". I guess that doesn't mean not suitable for use on the road which is an entirely different thing. Next stop Cadwell to try them out. Whoohoo! 😬 C7 CDW Edited by - David W on 12 Sep 2006 14:02:39
  22. Just had the car in for a check up at Redline and they spotted that the nearside engine mount had broken at the weld on the flange at the engine end of the mount. Apparently this is not uncommon. I was completely unaware of the failure as there weren't really any symptoms. It's a K-series with about 40k on the clock. Just mentioned it in case you were about to look under the bonnet there's something more for you to check! C7 CDW
  23. Norman - when you say household silicone do you mean the stuff you use to seal the edge of the bath? C7 CDW
