  1. You are all nuts. I am the only sane one here. C7 CDW
  2. I use my Minno Shuttle as a garage for one of our 7s. Just a thought. C7 CDW
  3. You've still got 12 days to fix it properly. 😬 C7 CDW
  4. A weak point remains the oil surge risk if you use it for the track. Fit an Apollo. Otherwise I think they are pretty much bullet proof. C7 CDW
  5. I have a Qaiffe torque bias unit. Some say not quites as good as a plate type because it needs some grip in the spinning wheel to work. To be honest it's fine for me. The cost of fitting and refurbing the rear axle all in about 5 years ago was around £475 plus VAT. C7 CDW
  6. Quicker off the starting line as well. More finesse needed in the right foot in difficult conditions. C7 CDW
  7. Is the car a turbo? (assume it's not the 7 you are talking about) Could it be a seal gon in the turbo and the cat is burning off the oil hence red hot? C7 CDW
  8. Thought so! Dang. I'll give it a go after the French trip. Ta. C7 CDW
  9. Can anyone tell me how you get the brake drums off a Minno. I want to check the shoes for wear, but can't see how to get access. C7 CDW
  10. If you intend to run without the air box next week you may take the prize for noisiest car from Mike C (105.9 dB). But there again if you go in the gravel you may need a new engine. C7 CDW
  11. Looking forward to seeing this go. C7 CDW
  12. You are about to slide into the money pit. 😬 C7 CDW
  13. Tried out on the road by No 1 son in the No 2 Blatmobile. Lo 4250 = start of torque upwards swing ie lower beans point. Hi 7100 = max power Flash 7200 = you really should think about changing up now. Seems fine so I think we will run with that ie pretty much as Myles has his. C7 CDW
  14. I haven't tried mine yet. Let's compare notes later. I'm at Croix-en-Ternois on 9 March so I'll be able to try out both settings. I think it boils down to personal perference in the end. C7 CDW
  15. Personally I'd change the oil and filter every 6 months max. I think it's the best investment re long engine life. C7 CDW
  16. 😬 Yup. I think I read on here some time ago that bouncing off the limiter on the 1600 with std pistons could lead to piston failure as well. That's what I had in mind re the "It-would-be-a-good-idea-to-change-now" point. C7 CDW
  17. Right. I've fitted the VVC plenum and 52mm TB to one of our cars but was worried about the MEMs fuelling correctly with the new set up that seems to give a lot more grunt. I understand it's reckoned to give around 150hp in that guise? The other car that has been rolling roaded at 148 hp has a 1400SS ali plenum, 55mm TB and an Emerald. I guess the light settings are pretty much personal preference. I think what I'm going to do having thought about it re the responses above is use for both cars the wide settings per Myles (it doesn't really start to pull at 3500 Pierre) for the road and narrow settings per Mike on-track. As I'm not racing the cars I think I'll set the shift point with a decent margin below the rev limit of 7600. So road will be say:- Shift Flash - 7100 (or maybe 7200) Hi - 7000 (or maybe 7100) Lo - 4250 Track will be say:- Shift Flash - 7100 (or maybe 7200) Hi - 7000 (or maybe 7100) Lo - 6600 (or maybe 6700) C7 CDW Edited by - David W on 19 Feb 2007 10:03:27
  18. Hi Mike - off topic presumably you have done the Mega Grads plenum mod to your car? Am I right in thinking it's the VVC plenum running a 52mm TB and standard SS MEMS? C7 CDW
  19. Yup your curve is a very simialr shape to mine but hiked by about 35hp and 25 lbft. The 1600 SS produces 148hp at 7235rpm and 119 lb ft at 5092 rpm. The step in torque is from around 4200 rpm. C7 CDW
  20. Remind me. What engine have you got Myles. On the RR the torque curve is pretty flat until 4500 when it goes up like a steep hill and peaks at 5100. Peak power is at 7200. Hmm! Think I'll try 4200 Lo 7000 Hi and 7200 Flash. That will give even spacing between light points if you include the flash feature. C7 CDW Edited by - David W on 18 Feb 2007 10:43:28
  21. Grant - You could try temporarily connecting direct to the tacho plug and see if that works. If not then it's probably broken. C7 CDW
  22. Ref the recent bulk buy I've just fitted mine. Really easy - I was amazed as nothing electrical ever works out easy on my 7. Anyway it works fine. Out of interest what shift points have you set yours at. At the mo I've just left it on the factory settings ie Lo 6200 Hi 7000 I set shift flash at 7250 (arbitrary) Mines a 1600 K SS so the factory shift point is 7400 with the rev limit at 7600 IIRC. I don't intend setting the new shift lights right at the limit anyway in the interests of taking a bit of strain off the engine. C7 CDW
