  1. Rob I committed a slight faux pas when allocating your number you should be 167 not 71. Regards, Colin
  2. My speedo failed a few years back, well to be more exact the trip and mileage indicator ceased to rotate. So long as you take care the bezel can be decrimped with judicious use of a (or several) small srewdriver(s). This can be done without breaking the glass. In my case the mileage indicator had stuck at 20,000 miles exactly (I had heard of several others topping at exactly same distance as the last zero rolled over). Moving the wheels over a few times with fingers and then plugged a drill in back (with a nail filed to give a square drive shaft) and ran it to add 20 or 30 miles onto clock to prove was OK. Rebuilt it and crimped even more carefully, using pliers with jaws protected by chamois leather. So far it has worked for 1500 miles. The other failure which occasionally happens is oil/grease running back up drive shaft and gumming up the magnet and spinner causing them to rotate together or jumpily. Other possoble problem can be when earth lead on car fails and speddo drive shaft used as earth strap, tends to smoke soemwhat. Fixed lots of speedos this way in 70's (and thats not clocking them back, before anyone comments Best of Luck, Colin
  3. Looking for a few more marshalls for sprint on saturday. We have an entry of 75 cars 😬 😬 so there will be plenty of action down at the start line and I'm sure a few more volunteers to help line up cars would be appreciated, especially if the weather stays as hot as it has been. If anyone wold like to help please give me a call on 07774 878475. See you all saturday. Many Thanks, Colin Heseltine
  4. Well someone has to entertain the watching crowds. Trouble is I seem to be making a habit of it. *confused*
  5. Does anyone one out there have a copy of instruction sheet for using the above set of equipment. If so would it be possible to have a copy. Thanks in advance, Colin
  6. Unfortunately not going to be able to attend as working away this weekend. Hope you all have a good day. Regards, Colin
  7. Would not want to stand in the way of Kippers (Senior and Junior) along with Dannyboy moving to Class3. Always thought there were too many cars in Class2 😬 Colin
  8. I have a feeling that listening to the noises from my clutch (on way back from 50th) when pedal depressed that my CRB is on its way out. I think this has done around 7K miles. Interested in knowing how easy it was for Martin to swap his without removing engine from car?. Colin
  9. Lynda, I emailed them all out last Thursday evening. I requested read receipts but have not had that many back. Having said that none of the emails were bounced back, so must assume all delivered. I can resend tonight if I get a chance unless you get a copy off Tam. Regards, Colin
  10. Still on original filling I'd love to know exactly what filling was in the silencers on the first bulk buy (4 years ago I think). Mine still has the original filling, no change in noise and puts out about 98db at 5000 rpm. Car has done possibley around 8000 miles and a number of sprints and a few trackdays. Colin
  11. That would be appreciated. Can't do any harm. Many Thanks, Colin
  12. Lets be honest someone in the family used them to good effect!!!!!!!
  13. Anyone fancy doing a bit of marshalling for the Club Sprint at Curborough on 19th May. If so give me a call on 07774 878475. Thanks in advance. Colin
  14. Come on you lot. There are still a number of places left in the Curborough Sprint on the 19th May. Get your entries in to me asap. Regards, Colin
  15. Thanks for that Mark. For those of you who do not enter details via web can you please use your very best writing when filling in entry form. My poor old eyes really struggle on when entry forms completed in "Doctors Scribble". Set the "Caps On" button on your pens!!! Please. One thing I have noticed when people have completed details on line is that occasionally I see a different email address online to that written on entry form. Have also received a couple of unsigned forms!!!!!! If you cannot compete at the sprint but want to get close to the action then why not volunteer as a Marshall. Your sprint needs you. All volunteer marshalls gratefully received. Colin
  16. I lost out to you, I wanted a spare to replace standard 14" rim. Didn't want to go above £70 as by time paid postage and to get tyre taken off it was almost price of new rim before the dreaded VAT goes on. Colin.
  17. Have the Llandow entries surfaced yet for 12th May?? Colin
  18. Mk 1 AVO RS200 gets my vote. Used to sprint mine at Curborough in late 70's. 180bhp on Dellorto 45's, big valve head, balanced, roller followers etc. Fantastic car wish I still had it. Colin
  19. Roger, The best accessory for the trailer is twin reversing lights. That what I use my second 7 pin socket for. Also run power supply to rear of trailer. Colin. PS If you are back in country can you give me a call.
  20. Mark, Sorry am working that weekend as well. Colin
  21. Mark, Sorry, I am working away over that weekend. Colin
  22. Alex, If your stuck give me a call (07774 878475). I have a 10 meter roll of jubilee band with appropriate bits to terminate the end. You can make them up to any length you require. If you measure the circumference you require I can cut the appropriate length off the roll. Regards, Colin.
  23. Nick, You have mail. Colin
  24. Yes it is possible to do without removing the head from the car. You will need a right angle drive for an electric drill and a helper, along with helicopil tap and tool. Insert a guide rod in the hole and then draw a parallel line to the guide on the bulkhead panel. You can get a sight on this by looking through the gap between the radiator and chassis. With the appropriate size drill in the right angle drive you can then drill out the hole to the required size for the helicoil tap. Your help can assist by confirming drill is parallel to the guide line and you can check you are at right angles to the head. When drilled out to correct diameter the hole is tapped and again the helper ensures you are lined up squarely. Note is is wise to put masking tape or similar over the adjacent exhaust port to ensure no swarf can get in. The helper will again help with lining up when the helicoil insert is fitted. This took me around 2.5 hours, and even though I had to buy helicoil tool and tap and right angle drive (the most expensive bit) it was still cheaper and quicker than taking the head off. Missed half a practice day at Curborough through this. Has been OK for the last two years since doing this. Yes its awkward, fiddly and you have to be careful but it can be done. Best of luck, Colin
  25. Gareth, Recently removed both bottom bolts on my car. If you have an impact driver (not impact wrench as this would be much too fierce) and can adapt down to the allen key size required try that. Its the hammer shock as the bolt is turned that you need. Alternatively use 3/8 drive allen key with a 'T' wrench and tap (hit) the end as you turn the wrench. A few days soaking in WD40 might also help. My biggest problem was cleaning the threads up afterwards. Did not have a long shank tap that would reach right across the width of the wishbone so used a long bolt with a hacksawed slot along its length to clean out the threads. Need to be very careful and ensure do not cross thread else may need a new wishbone. If the allen socket on the head of the bolt is at all damaged I would fit new bolts, else next time you will have an even worse problem. Best of Luck, Colin.
