  1. Allen, Compressed air job must need quiet a bit of specialist gear...not something I could do in my garage at home. Peter, Have you done this rope trick...sounds great, but also a bit iffey? Could save me having to remove the head though Clive
  2. I've had a loud tapping from the top end of my 1.6K, since Oulton Park track day. I thought it was a follower again ( Had this problem last year ), so I've removed the cams to check/replace them. On close inspection, the No 7 exhaust valve spring retaining cap, is sitting above the level of the valve stem. I don't understand how this can happen, unless the colets have moved. The follower is hitting the cap as well as the top of the valve stem. The valve itself, is sitting at the same height as all the others. How the valve hasn't fallen into the cylinder, I don't know. The car runs fine, just taps away noisily. Anyway, does this have to be a head off job to repair, or can I somehow compress the valve spring, and reset the colets/spring cap without doing so? Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers, Clive Edited by - Ivaan on 16 Aug 2008 18:23:10 ☹️ Edited by - Ivaan on 9 Mar 2009 15:47:25

Pat, I'll be travelling up from Shrewsbury, straight up the A49, on Tues a.m. Call me, if you want to meet. Tel 07855 837 335. Clive
  4. Will, Interesting solution. Would like to see some photo's. I assume this cuts off your rear view quiet a lot, but with good side mirrors it'll be okay. Much better than running home on trackworn tyres. Clive
  5. Do you think it generates any downforce? The airstream behind the screen must be pretty chaotic. How could the downforce be measured? Would it work better with aeroscreen? Clive
  6. Still hopeful. BTTT. Clive
  7. Saw dark metalic blue with full weather gear up, headed north out of Shrewsbury. But the sun was shining ❗ 😬 Well it was for a few minutes anyway. ☹️ Clive
  8. Foggy, I bought one of these from the same seller. I fitted mine and blanked off the cam case breather as suggested. However, when checking the oil, I noticed air being sucked down the dipstick tube. With the breather blanked off, there's negative air pressure created within the bottom end of the engine. Whether this would do any harm, I couldn't say, but I didn't like the idea of blocking of the breather, so I fitted a small air filter. It did make only a minor difference in performance, but at least the TB doesn't distort when tightening up the air filter. If you're thinking about /are doing The Speed Championship, sprinting, then check with Mark Durrant first, that it would be an exceptable mod, for the class you'd be in. Cheers, Clive
  9. Thanks for the info.....just need a vice now. ( Cos I've not got any ) Clive
  10. I've just ordered a kit from CC to put on my standard Bilstiens. Are these straight forward to fit? Any special tools required? Has any kind soul done an "idiots guide" for this operation. This idiot could need one. 😬 Thanks....Clive
  11. I'm still after a set of Brooklands, but there appears to be none about on the secondhand market at present. ☹️ Does anyone have an unwanted aeroscreen that I can buy as a stopgap? Please blatmail me if you can help. Clive.
  12. Rob, My inclusion in the wrong class at Mira, has been corrected in the class standings, but not in the Novice Championship. Here I seem to have a different score, from that in Class 3. Makes me look better, but still Clive.

    Pembrey

What a great day!!! Drove down from work on Friday night ( heavy rain around Cardiff ), camped overnight, had some excellent sprints in hot sunshine, packed up tent and exhaust ( thanks Mark ) and drove home through mid Wales on Sat evening. Just to add icing to the cake.... the gentleman parked next to me in his 400bhp TVR, who coincidently, also came from Shrewsbury, suggested that since he'd never driven a Caterham, that we could do a drive swap!!!! Thanks to all organisers, marshalls ect. Hope you all had a good day today ( Sunday ) Off to polish exhaust 😬 😬
  18. I'm after a favour.....I've bought an exhaust from Mark Durrant, and he's bringing it to Pembrey for me.....Problem is, I've just loaded up the car ( driving there ) with all the camping gear ect, and I'm not sure I'll have room for it on the return journey. Might have......but not sure Can anyone help get it closer to Shrewsbury for me?? Donation to NTL. Then I can pick it up in the tintop. Cheers all...see you Saturday. Clive
  19. Are you sure they are genuine? I believe there's an awful lot of counterfit parts about. Could explain why you've got such high wear rates? Clive
  20. Mark, Forgot to ask.....Does this have a CAT??? Clive
  21. Mark, Could I get these off of you at Pembrey next Sat? Clive
  22. Mark, Are these to fit a K series? If so 1st dibs please. Clive
  23. Cheers all, I'll try CC Dartford tomorrow and Redline if no success. Clive
