  1. The little bell end thingie pushes over the middle of the hub after you've put it together. The gold coloured pins hold the brake pads in, and the thingie with the arrow stops the pads from rattling. Regards Enlightened of Maidenhead.

    HALF SIDE SCREENS

    Arnie You have mail....
  3. Not emigrating, no. Answering the first question - I suppose it would The other question - yes, there is a small project on the go. I'm planning on moving house so need the cash, but have found a cheap way to R500 speed - a 250cc national gearbox kart. 140mph, 0-60 in about 2 seconds. What do you reckon it'll do at Santa Pod? Fancy a challenge???? Edited by - clarkey on 1 Aug 2002 22:17:25

Cheers Dave. Despite sending the entry form off the day I got it, i failed to get a place. Otherwise I probably would have kept it until next spring!

    R500 for sale

The last non-factory built R500 is sadly for sale. Car number 73 was delivered on 10th May 2002 and registered as R500 SAC on 17th June 2002, a change of jobs means that it has only done 600 road miles since. It has the following specification: Painted Lamborghini Arancia California (pearlescent orange) with carbon wings and nose band Race springs and dampers (plus spare springs and anti roll bar) Uprated master cylinder and pedals Full tonneau Half doors ECU controlled fan Race radiator Oil cooler Oil-air separator Aeroscreen FIA rollbar and petty strut Battery cut off switch The car is in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Optionally including Race Technology DL-90 data logger and BJ Minno trailer (please don't ask for just these, I'll advertise again after the car has gone) £34,995 in the next week or so or it will be going back to Caterham. Cost new is now almost £39,000. Enquiries to r500sac@yahoo.co.uk please Thanks Steve. Edited by - clarkey on 30 Jul 2002 09:38:24
  8. Send me an email offline. Probably best to discuss it there.
  9. Miff, don't check any of it yourself. Caterham supplied you a car that they guarantee to pass the SVA. If it doesn't, it is not fit for purpose and it is up to them to sort it out. Drop the car at Dartford and collect it again when they have taken it through an SVA successfully. My R500 failed an emissions recently. Caterham fixed the issue (wrong lambda sensor, balance of throttle bodies, ECU map) and took it to the SVA. Although I was hacked off that it failed, I don't have any complaints about their customer service.
  10. Give it back to Caterham and tell them to sort it out.
  11. It's been sold.........Cheers Russ, see you tomorrow.
  12. Dave, I'm a little concerned about potential warranty issues, so I'm going to stick with Caterham's recommendation for the moment.....
  13. In the UK you can either buy 'normal' Mobil 1 0/40, or Mobil 1 Motorsport 15/50. The stuff sold in Halfords for £33.99 certainly says Motorsport on it, and nothing about Penske.....
  14. I've stocked up on Mobil 1 now - it appears that Halfords are running out of it, and as I'll be using 16 litres of it in the next month or so, better safe than sorry.... No problem about wandering off the thread, I'm hoping to be working on the car tomorrow anyway....
  15. I haven't even unpacked the boxes yet and the blowing up jokes have started.....
  16. When I say turning up, I mean a large pile of bits will be appearing in my garage....
  17. My car is turning up on thursday, so I need to buy some oils. I know that I need to use Mobil 1 15/50, but should i use a different oil to run it in? What running in procedure have people used? Also, which diff and gearbox oil do you recommend? Red Line? Thanks for your help.
  18. Except for the car............
  19. Not sure how much they cost, but it is easy to get to - remove the seat, unscrew the little access panel, undo with an allen key. Bottom is just as easy.
  20. Arnie, there is a set advertised on http://www.racecar.co.uk/partsboardmain.htm in the wanted section: Posted by Peter Sanders on March 18, 19102 at 22:51:16: In Reply to: 7x13,8x13 wheels posted by Rob Alderman on March 18, 19102 at 15:57:37: I've got 4 off, 7" x 13" Alleycat MX (Minilight copies). They came off a V8 Capri and are in excellent condition having been re-powdercoated 2000 in silver. Too big for my Anglia. Looking for £100.
  21. We've started a database of AP-22 results over at Fluke Motorsport (www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/technical.html). We want to get as much data in there as possible. Currently we're just testing it out with 0-60mph readings but once enough data has been submitted it will include all the various readings that the AP-22 logs. My old SLR is topping the list with Mr Finlayson's transit van rental at the bottom If you've got any (and we mean any) AP-22 data kicking around on your computer send it in and we'll add to the database.
