  1. Blue7, just a word of warning, don't have stainless bolts. As for the bolt youve shown, socket on that and allen key in the other end and it comes off fairly easy
  2. Cheers Ben. Hopefully I'll get both sides done by the weekend.
  3. Thanks Ben, I gave it a go this evening and did almost exactly that. Just cracked the big nut first to make sure I could get it off then the damper bolt and then the others. It was surprisingly easy considering they haven't been touched in 17 years. Gave the old bracket a clean up and can't see a thing wrong with it. Did you use any sort of assembly lube or anything for the collets etc in the damper bolt or was it all dry fitted?
  4. I usually get them from "Franks Fasteners" on ebay. I went with A2 stainless to avoid corrosion. According to what I've read the strength of 8.8 to stainless is negliable, especially for this kind of application.
  5. I never got a reply via email when I asked about the brackets, so I called instead. Apparently he is currently on paternity leave aswell.
  6. David. I tried contacting Titan direct and asking for a couple so I could assemble a whole unit before fitting, but Titan told me they are made to order only for Caterham and don't stock spares (what I expected to hear really). So I will be removing the old ones, cleaning them up and reusing them.
  7. Ok so I've got a new nuts and bolts and will be attempting the replacement this weekend. I'm soaking everything in WD40 throughout this week so hopefully no issues. Just wanted to clarify the removal procedure. Whats got to be undone first? Big nut on top Long strut bolt on the back Small allen bolts Regular bolts at the front
  8. Nick, I do the same as BenF. Especially after the first time checking the level with the dipstick. I put in half a litre before a nice hours spirited drive and upon my return found it all in the catch tank.
  9. I carry around a suitable funnel in a carry bag just incase I get caught short of fuel. Generally when its empty I stick 20litres in and its almost full. Haven't got around to taking the flap out the filler neck yet. Would make life a hell of a lot easier. Is there a writeup or a couple of pictures somewhere to walk me through it?
  10. Thanks for the reply David. I have some of the Teroson MS9220 already so if that's what they use then I'll use that. I just wanted to check as it gets toasty under the bonnet so thought they may have used some high temp adhesive instead.
  11. Bought a set from eliseparts today. Emailed them and asked who makes them and its the same supplier who supplies Lotus direct. They are 10.9 grade too. Saved me a fair chunk of money over the H&R ones I was going to get.
  12. #2, they are considerably cheaper than the H&R ones I was looking at on performancealloys.com. Any idea who makes the ones you've got?
  13. Does anyone know what kind of glue/adhesive they use to stick the aluminium "Cosworth" plate onto the 2.3 carbon coil cover? Caterham Parts now sell it without the plate, but in the process of refurbing all the carbon on the car, the coil cover needs doing and it has the plate, so will have one go back on. Cheers.
  14. Thanks for the picture and info Ben. That's certainly going to help me change mine over. Any idea what the nut size/thread is on top of the clevis pin is? EDIT:- Just found this online:- http://www.sjmmarsh.f2s.com/ in the CSR Manuals section. Its an M14x20.
  15. Gareth, I do intend to change them over anyway when they arrive. Had a quick message to BenF for details on his change over. All I need to know is the bolt size for the two smaller ones that fix the mount to the upright. Anyone got the details?
  16. Thought I would post on this thread as its about the rear shock mounts. I've managed to acquire a set of TL mounts from a third party after calling Luke who was out of stock. My details were passed on to a nice fella north of the border who had a set he was trying to return, so I purchased them direct. So while its on my mind I decided to take a look under my 2005 CSR and from what I can see there are no cracks. What surprised me is that they already look like they are machined, not cast. So I'm wondering if they have already been changed (my late father didn't change them) and the original owner only had the car 4years before selling it, or were the very first ones already billet and they changed the later ones to cast? Option 3 would be its machined cast, but it doesn't look quite the same (although I'm no expert). p.s. if not sure if the photos will be huge when posting from my phone, so if an admin can shrink them if necessary it would be appreciated.
  17. Thanks SLR, It seems when CC replaced them last year after an insurance repair they missed them. Yet another little detail thats been missed
  18. When washing the CSR today I found that the hook on the bonnet (scuttle end) was loose and noticed the rivets weren't exactly doing a great job. I've taken a look on Caterham Parts and seen a "spreader plate", is there supposed to be one on the bonnet or just on the latch behind the side skin on the body? Also what rivets are used to fix the hook part? As it looks like I'm going to have to replace it, but wanted to check what size before I go plowing into it. Cheers.
  19. I've tried to contact Team Leos a couple of times regarding buying the upgraded "bracket" for the rears but haven't got a response via the website contact form. Does anyone know if they would supply just those parts?
  20. Found this in the shed while having a clear out. It was my late fathers and have no idea why he would've kept it. Open to offers (if its worth anything). Collection from Essex, SS6.
  21. As Scott has already said yours has Motul because thats the best deal for CC. My 2005 CSR runs Comma 5w-50 Motorsport oil because thats what it got given at "birth" so to speak. My late father (who had the car for 12 years) never deviated from the original oil. But any decent oil of the same spec should be fine.
  22. Much obliged gentlemen. It seems they are both the same as the regular 7s.
  23. Does anyone have a part number(s) for Upper front balljoints for a CSR. Being a CSR I didn't want to assume it was the same as the de-dion ones CC list on their site. Also, can someone just confirm that CSR wheels nuts are M12x1.5, as I'm looking to get some black ones with black locking wheel nuts for my CSR. Cheers,
  24. Thanks for the reply. I'm sorting things out with Nigel at the minute. But if for any reason things fall apart I'll send you a PM. Cheers.
  25. Just wondering if anyone has got a set of genuine CC wind deflectors they no longer need. I've read they are a bit useless but wanted to give them a try wothout spending the money CC want.
