  1. Wild Bill - it may be that you have 'Tubs' (Tubulars) rather then 'clinchers'. Tubs are glued to the wheel rims (or with special double sided tape) and basically have the inner tube sealed within the tyre. Lot of pro teams will use tubs and majority of track (velodrome) riders will use them (can inflate to higher pressures, tend to be lighter and offer the rider more control if punctured) This shows the difference: here

  3. I did something very similar and cracked the nose across the front of my 7 - as a temp measure (ok its been over a year now...) I wrapped across crack as shown .It seems to have kept the weather out the crack and hid it fairly well (until the nose got nudged again!) Edited by - RS2000 on 1 Sep 2013 21:43:36

  11. My only experience with the RAC (touch wood!) was in my tintop on a Sunday afternoon 'in the countryside', turned up within half an hour, couldn't fix it, said he knew all the recovery teams were busy and it would be hours, so he said, he shouln't but he'd tow me home (35 odd miles), called 'control' up, said I was in a dangerous position so was going to tow me...
