  1. Thanks SM25T It appears to be sticking in body, even without the air filter it sticks. Am I been over cautious with rubbing/cleaning the butterfly?
  2. Hi I'm having contiuing issues with the revs not dropping to propoer tick over. It sticks at about 1000 rpm, and sometimes higher. If I'm in traffic running in with revs about 2k, it can also stick there. If I jab the trottle it will returtn fully. It appears to be worse when the revs are dropping slowly. It dosn't appear to be kinked cable or peddle sticking as I can replicate it by hand on the throttle body. I've had the butterfly out several times and cleaned. I dont want to use emery on butterfly in case I take too much off (?). It's a right bitch to drive in traffic. All advice/ideas welcome.
  3. Just got back from a great blat, but water dripping from rad ☹️ Looks like a replacement. Would appreciate comments of what, other than Caterham part, which I think is out of stock, anyway. Thanks

  5. Thanks for the above. Stripped out the buts that i can, and all seem to be turning. The quill turns OK and I can see that the transition gear thing is turning, but when all connected the speedo cable doesn't. But the speedo cable attached to the gear thingy all turns OK when attached to drill. Could something be worn not to work under load? How difficult to change the quill or worm on g'box? Any advise or help appreciated.
  6. K series 1.6 roadsport, 2000. Speedo has jumped about a bit between 40 and 60. Had been told the speedo probably wants reconditioning, although it has only done 10k. Now its stopped all together. So I took out the speedo to check connections etc. With the speedo out, I have held the cable and it turns when I'm reversing, but doesn't turn in forward gears!? Any advise, knowledge appreciated. Gav
  7. whilst out enjoying the sunshine today, our K1.6 has started to idle at about 1800 rpm. If i jab the throttle, the revs settle at just below 1000. As soon as the car is revved in gear (moving/under load) it settles back at 1800. I've checked all the mechanical connections and WD40 to all linkages and it looks like it is back on the stops at either revs?
  8. *thumbup*All sorted thanks. Switch came loose on thread. Cleaned up and tightened. All good Edited by - gavinsmithartist on 8 Sep 2013 19:57:21

  11. Slight mis hap yesterday, ☹️ jumped the clutch and cracked nose cone on back of car in front. Can anyone recommend repairer in Midlands, good with gel finishes.
  12. Hi Mine does the same at 40 -50. On a 2000 K series 1.6. I change the cable, cleaned all fixings and re-fitted. Nick Potter (ex Caterham Midlands) has told me that it's the speedo. Winter job. Take out and send to Smiths for refurb. They dry out.
  13. I've read this before about swinging the alternator 180 deg, to avoid frying when fitted a powerspeed 421 exhaust. Done a search but can't find; can someone advise please? Thanks Gav
