  1. I picked some up here on ebay.
  2. The swinging side to side of GoPro stabilisation has always driven me mad too Richard. Next outing I'm trying It without! Your footage looks great.
  3. I use a Rode Smartlav with a deadcat on it attached to the roll bar, behind the passenger seat, Temple Cloud. It's not too bad a sound experience… (Must try the footwell idea!)
  4. I use these smallrig clamps. They do not move
  5. I look forward to seeing it at The Taffia then! Just waiting for my R400 to come back from having an SPC LSD fitted, then I'm booking it in with PP for some further fettling …
  6. Great feedback Pickled! Thank you
  7. For those who have had PP's lighterweight flywheel and clutch, would you say it was worth it? And qualifying that, in what way was it worth it? If you had it done to a 6 speed box I'd be interested in hearing if the heavier clutch becomes a bind with changing gear so much as one does with the 6spd Thanks folks!
  8. There's camping available at the actual circuit?
  9. 20% discount interest anyone? 400 quid the lot …
  10. ** NOW SOLD ** Hello folks, I've got five 15" wheels just sitting around doing nothing. Seems a shame when I know there'll be a good home out there for them. In mint condition (except one small chip on one wheel — see photos), these were on the 2012 R400 I bought in June with only 4,000 miles on it. The tyres are all 2010 production by the looks of it, which you'd think would mean they're all 'done', but it appears not. I did one track day on them this year, Croft, and they worked nicely. Previous owner must've looked after them very well! All have about 4mm of tread left, apart from the one which was the spare — it's never seen tarmac. Collection from Ilkley in West Yorkshire would be ideal, although if I have to ship them it'll be 85 quid with Simpson Transport + 15 quid in packaging. I'd say it'll be cheaper in fuel from almost anywhere in the country £500 for all five sound fair? (if it doesn't, I am open to offers --Mark Here's an album with a load more photos The one chip:
  11. I don't think that's unreasonable really. I paid 5k for PPF on my old 911 - so 2.5 Yes, after paying that I'd want to put PPF on it too.
  12. Now that looks stunning! Does anybody mind me asking what a full respray cost can be? Ballpark will do, accuracy not required
  13. EDIT: You sure about that? https://purplemeanie.co.uk/index.php/2019/09/20/ecu-diagnostics-part-13-2-obd-ii/ https://www.sbdmotorsport.co.uk/MBE9A4-mbe9a4-ecu--fuel-injection-up-to-4-cylinders.html
  14. This Chris. Although it doesn't work I'm on the edge of calling Premier Power for some upgrades anyway, might just get a standard ECU put in to avoid all the faff that seems to be associated with the Caterham one.
  15. I've cricked my back and neck, but the prize goes to CtrMint! You genius Mark, thank you! It was not an easy find
  16. Hello folks, As per the subject. I've looked everywhere! I've practically climbed into the dashboard to see if there's one in there, to no avail. Is it possible my 2012 R400D doesn't have an OBD port? The ECU doesn't clearly say 9A4 on it — so perhaps it has some sort of different port? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks! --Mark
  17. Yup. Personally I've always been mechanically sympathetic to my performance cars anyway, giving them plenty of time to warm up [oil] even when I've not had a gauge to tell me what's happening. I started a thread here a little while ago about oil types and usage, and there was plenty of helpful advice. The previous owner of my car had run it on 40, not 50, oil and I'm beginning to realise why — very little 'hard use' and therefore little opportunity to get it fully up to temperature. For general road use I'm getting the idea that the oil radiator is overkill too. You tape over yours for general road use? Edit: Just found this interesting thread about oil too.
  18. Isn't this the case with all cars? My previous 911 used to behave the same — water temp up in 5 minutes or less, oil would be a fair bit longer, 10-15 minutes. I don't have an oil temp guage on my R400 (next upgrade!), but I'm sure it's the same — the oil pressure seems higher when first driving the car, indicative of cold oil perhaps?
  19. Who knew roll cages was such a large topic? (now, did I do that right? )
  20. That looks fabulous! Surely it would get snapped up on collectingcars.com? (I have nothing to do with them, that is not a plug)
  21. Fabulous colour! I came past in a green (far more subtle shade) R400.
  22. When it comes to coding I am of the 'if it works, it's good enough!' school of thought I was a terrible coder when I actually did stuff, now I just dine out on former career as an engineer and simply talk a good game. Friends who still code for a day job despair of my approach Have starred the repo. Will take a look in the coming days
  23. Somebody did mention to me they pulled the Caterham hobbled ECU and swapped it for a SBD Motorsports MBE9A4. Did you mention at some point you had the code on GitHub Mark? I wonder if it's worth 'compiling' the Python + deps into a binary to save all the dependency faff. PyPI has been a mess for a while now, what with the search stuff getting nobbled a while back. --Mark
