  1. It was Arch, conveniently only 45 minutes from me. Done in 2¼ hours £474 including VAT
  2. Apologies I lost the plot on this and forgot the original post was your 1984 car!
  3. Can I ask what car you say the latest part will not fit please? "The latest caterham part will not (easily) fit as the mounting holes are different, but close enough to overlap with the existing holes." I specifically asked Caterham and they told me the current partveas exactly the same as the ones fitted on my 1996 S3 Supersport. Now confused!
  4. I'm 6'1" and have just had a lowered floor fitted. A big improvement in several ways for me. 1996 K series 1.6 S3 Supersport with leather seats. 270mm round Momo wheel. It's easier getting in Plenty of leg clearance to the wheel Better pedal access Less wind buffering I feel more "in the car"! It is a bit harder getting out! Very happy I had it done
  5. This is the Caterham part, competitively priced too! https://caterhamparts.co.uk/bonnets/865-bonnet-toggle-rear-catch.html
  6. Actually, I checked and they are available from Caterham. Stainless steel, they confirmed same design for "ages" okay for my 1996 Supersport and not an unreasonable price.
  7. Where can you get new replacements from?
  8. I think its an insulating/waterproofing cover for if you have to cut, strip, twist and solder wires together to make a connection, a bit neater than wrapping with insulating tape. Although I'd have thought a couple more wouldn't have hurt!

  10. Please let me know if you find out, I'm intrigued!
  11. Yes So no more than 400mm from the outer edge and at least 500mm apart!
  12. I think extra indicators are illegal and there is legislation that says how far in from the outside of the vehicle (not far) and how far apart ( not far), so the unit mounted in the middle isn't legal. (It's 12 years since I dealt with automotive electrical regulations so I can't remember specific details!) It's probably fine for motorcycle regulations.
  13. Regarding #28 by Collidog How did you fix this to your roll bar?
  14. I'd like the aeroscreen and strut please Message sent

    Grease Points

I'm used to working on mini coopers, lots of grease points, where you keep pumping until fresh grease exits from the seals. I think I read somewhere that this wasn't the case with Caterham UJs as you could damage the seals? Is there a method, or is it just a "couple of pumps"every year?
  16. I use a piece of hardboard about 5ft x 3ft covered with a layer of carpet underlay and some carpet. Held together with gaffe tape. The hardboard gives it rigidity so it is easy to move about and slide in and out. Also stacks on its side when out of use
  17. In a similar vein, does anybody sell Caterham badges, the round ones on the nosecone?
  18. Thank you. They look the same, I've asked about the dimension between the hole centres for fixing.
  19. I have a 1996 Supersport with flared arches. Does anybody know where I can get a pair of new indicator lamps from?

    Lowered Floor

Thanks everyone for the information provided. Still no idea why CC don't sell the lowered floors for 96 to 2001 cars though! Doesn't matter, I shall take it to Arch.

    Lowered Floor

Good information Thanks I'm not far from Arch!
  22. Interesting comments. I was after a K series Supersport, but the one I was interested in became "unavailable", so I started searching again and found and bought this one. Then the original K series one came back into the frame! Which I preferred and bought, hence the sale of this one. For me the K series is a much nicer car to drive. With the X flow, the 160 mile journey back on the bench seat wasn't comfortable, I don't know if it was just the bench seat or the live rear axle? I also found using the handbrake in the passenger side very awkward! Alls well that ends well!

    Lowered Floor

I'm looking into a lower floor for my car, a 1996 S3 K series Supersport. I've read several threads about this but I don't understand why CC don't sell one for my car? They sell "LOWERED FLOOR PANEL RHS S3 PRE 96 AND 2001 ON" Can someone explain what is unique with 1996 to 2001 cars and why a lowered floor isn't available?
