  1. i've had several experiences with these damned "new style, can't lubricate wheel bearings" front wheels that is", once on an e30, an E46 and a Golf. On the E30 i put it into the dealers and had bearings done on both front wheels. On the E46 i was driving when i heard the noise come on gradually, when i got home i shoved grease into the bearing, although its "sealed" after a short blast some grease clearly entered the bearing, it went for 50k and i sold the car! Pretty much the same with my old golf run around, bearings got noisy, i slapped some grease into them and they've been quiet for approx 10K. I know on the golf that there is no bearing cap, only the wheel stops the grease from coming out...........but it works 😬
  2. only a couple of things can go, diode pack or voltage reg not often the brushes
  3. diode pack is possibly shot, thed diode leads burn out
  4. quick smack with a copper hammer, she'll be out no bother..........done loads like this...in fact changed 8 last month for longer ones to cater for spacers

  7. Lets face it Lotus / Caterhams and ford engines are inseperable, that japanese rover lump was always a make do and mend, you see all of this garbage on pistonhead ads for k series 7s "engine refreshed after 5000 miles", why does it need refreshing after 5000 miles.................cos it aint man enough for the job!(as it wasn't in the regular production cars)...........my 81 crossflow and my 150hp sigma are both going like a dream..............wouldn't entertain the years in between

He's on 01652 688904, located about 1 and1/2 miles from the south side of the humber bridge Barnoldsby i think they call the place, i'd use him again. By the way he found 120BHP at my back wheels
  11. Depends Brian, if it was frozen rain the size of golf balls like encountered at Lake Maggiore, Italy 6 weeks ago it can. Its cost me a new bonnet and scuttle.................anybody want a cheap but planished bonnet in titanium silver (sv)
  12. Its a flat glass dipping type mirror, and i've fitted it to my old x-flow but the one that CC fitted to my factory built sigma sv looks the same but is not dipping type.............anyway cc have 25 left in stock as of last week - dipping type
  13. My new Caterham supplied item, fitted it last night, has the dipping facility
  14. the best solution is to get it from CC, i've just got one, £23, deliver next day , its a ford bit and has the proper 3M adhesive back on it....it'll stay attached to the screen. Much better than that garbage the Halfords sell with a rubber suction cup

  18. Has anybody fitted the 9 inch rims and tyre combInation (as per CSR)to the rear of the SV, I understand that there may be a bit of fouling of the de dion ears or some such problem, what about a wheel spacer and how big................anyone help?
  19. got a pair of those 'orrible bright blue things but i think they are 4 point (with that stupid red twist to release button in the middle reminds me of flying offshore in the chopper, i'll send you photo if you like, you might just save them from the skip, they're still in the box
  20. Whats it like to change chokes on 40dcoe on my old x-flow? During the engine rebuild the builder bored them out 33mm parallel since proper tapered chokes weren't available. They have since become available at Webcon and i want put in the correct tapered bit of kit (acceleration of the air through the vena contracta an' all that!) Will i need to have a retune or is it just screw the jets out and then refit them after installing the new tapered chokes causing no upset to the tuning? Anyone tackled this little job?
