  1. I remember similar when Williams had my new 310R plugged into EasyMap to reset the TPS. The rev counter read much higher. It's not at all accurate.
  2. Caterham doesn't list different 0-60 times between S and R models does it?

    Upgrade it to R spec?
  4. Are sigma race cars much different to 310Rs? Mine doesn't seem to collect any more oil than normal on a track day.
  5. Try some different ones on - each brand fits differently and it will depend on the shape of your head. If it's for car track days get a car-specific one. Most circuits require a full-face helmet in a Caterham too. I have a Bell Sport 5, which is a comfortable entry-level one, but you can spend a lot more. I think the current equivalent is the GT-5 Sport. Prices have gone up a lot since 2016 when I bought mine though. I paid £330 which included HANS posts, but you're looking at £526 for the equivalent now . Other brands can be cheaper though.
  6. The ATDO requirement for track day cover is the main issue I think it would be useful to see if the club could help with. Several of us have discussed this with different brokers but the wording isn't getting changed. Similarly, not covering a Caterham windscreen under the windscreen cover (see another post earlier in this thread) is ridiculous. These companies advertise on the club website and in Lowflying as Caterham specialists, and we pay them £££s each every year, but some of the policies they sell us aren't fit for purpose.
  7. Adrian Flux uses a range of underwriters. My policy uses Trinity Lane. A-Plan said they were unable to offer me a different underwriter.
  8. I recently turned down insurance with A-Plan, despite them being the cheapest, and the main reason was Markerstudy being the underwriter. In addition to their reputation, their trackday policy wording is out of date so you can't actually meet the requirements for cover. They also won't offer agreed value cover. As Roadsport06 says, most people just assume cover is cover and don't read the small print or do any research.
  9. If only they'd supply those details to new customers with their quotes instead of wording that specifies a requirement that can't be met...
  10. A-Plan say they can't offer any other underwriters for track cover. I tried REIS, who do have perfectly good track cover wording and offer agreed value, but they came in at £540! Looks like I'll be renewing with Adrian Flux for £370 then...
  11. Exactly - I'm not comfortable having policy documentation that says I'm not covered either. I should say that Adrian Flux also has a requirement for ATDO membership, but crucially their policy wording (underwritten by Trinity Lane) also says it covers club days and manufacturer days, which at least covers all C&L7C and Caterham Cars organised days. All of these policies need updating to remove the ATDO requirement. I told Adrian Flux over a year ago and my renewal this month still has the same wording I've emailed A-Plan and asked if they can use a different underwriter to get around the issue as I don't expect the wording will get changed in time for me. That would solve the Markerstudy concern too. I'm still not sure about not having agreed value though. If my 310R gets written off I want £35k for it which is what the three cars currently in stock at Caterham Cars are advertised for (that's only £2k less than I bought it for after three years).
  12. I'm just saying that with the current wording on the policy it's not possible to meet their requirements for cover. When I discussed it whilst getting a quote they said they'd look into getting it changed. I've no idea what the timescales for that might be though.
  13. I'm currently with Adrian Flux, but have a renewal quote to compare to a new A-Plan quote. Both cover my 2020 310R for limited mileage and 5 track days. A-Plan has a good reputation on here, and having Carlie on-hand is a bonus too. The A-Plan quote is also a bit cheaper (£340 vs £370), although it doesn't include agreed value like the Adrian Flux policy. Anyway, a couple of things concern me about the A-Plan quote: It's underwritten by Markerstudy (who have a terrible reputation) The lack of agreed value cover (apparently my car is too new)What are people's thoughts on the above? The other issue which might make this a moot question of course is that the A-Plan track day policy currently states that it only covers track days organised by the ATDO, which doesn't exist anymore. A-Plan said they would look into into getting the wording changed, but with the current wording it's basically useless.

  15. I recently purchased a Sealey 2.5 tonne low profile jack. It fits easily under the Caterham and goes high enough to lift our Mercedes GLC as well. It's heavy, but if its never going to leave the garage it's a great bit of kit. Halfords sell it if you want the club discount. I also bought some Powerflex adapters - one for each of our cars (Caterham, Mercedes GLC and Fiesta ST).
  16. I'd imagine if you posted a photo there would be plenty of people on here that could tell you what it was
  17. That's very useful info, thanks. It's a shame they told me otherwise three years ago. Perhaps there is an opportunity to get back on track with my old Lotus friends again...
  18. When you say you have an FIA bar, do you mean it's actually FIA approved on its own or just commonly referred to as such? The current track day bar isn't FIA approved without the strut fitted (I checked with Caterham), which is why Lotus on Track told me to find another track day organiser. Still, if they hadn't I probably wouldn't have joined this club, so every cloud and all that...
  19. To be FIA-compliant (which is the Lotus On Track requirement), the track day bar needs a strut fitted between it and the passenger footwell. Caterham will sell you one, but it means drilling holes and then you can't take a passenger. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/track-day-bars/2712-petty-strut-rhd-2003.html
  20. I'm a lifetime member after doing many track days with them in my Elise. Their days are much like C&L7C days. Be aware that they only allow Caterhams with full cage or a track day bar with petty strut fitted. Hence why I now do C&L7C track days.
  21. I did my first ever track day with Lotus on Track (in my Elise at the time). They didn't offer novice days like our club does, but the rules, organisation and driving etiquette was very similar. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a normal club track day to novices if the novice days are already booked up.
  22. My service is due in the spring so it gets done after. Not the most technical reason, but at less than 3k miles a year I doubt it matters. It's not like the oil that comes out is black.
  23. TPS and idle needs to be set up with Easimap doesn't it? Or is the Duratec different to the Sigma in that regard?
  24. Out of interest, how is the collector sealed? Mine seems to blow a bit when cold and I assume seals when it expands with heat? It doesn't seem to blow when hot.
