  1. #2 SM25T My thoughts initially the wheel nuts but they are torqued correctly and this seven doesn't have watts links or rear ARB. #3 7 Wonders Are you referring to the unused hole by the seat ? I believe there are mounting position options and this car uses the other? I'm going to nut and bolt check the rear end later tonight to see if anything is amiss. The first time I heard it my initial thoughts were handbrake cables smacking the dedion tube as its very metallic sounding but there are no marks to suggest this and I have since wrapped some bike inertube around them to silence the noise with no effect.
  2. As above Its quite loud and is really noticeable when in towns at low speed when going over road repairs or other road imperfections. Is it time for new A frame bushes or possibly more ? cheers Ralph
  3. Nice looking car just come from Heathfield direction on the A272 heading towards Buxted. believe you have a seven related reg plate? I was in the Long que of cars trying to get out of that horrid junction!

Any update on the issue? hope it's fixed now ready for better weather.
  8. This is something that I have considered should I venture back on track as I believe my 420R would be to loud. Sevens and classics offer a db killer that clamps on to the exhaust outlet in a similar way to the one James has fabricated. Its on the upgrade brochure download. It would be interesting hearing from anyone that has experience using one of these? Just found the aforementioned and it's called a Decibel slayer costing 78 quid!
  9. Caterham offer both side and rear exit exhausts with the cat in the main silencer so there's a fair chance it's one of those. rear exit ref 3FX123A side exit ref 370X0001A just looked and neither are in stock !
  10. #4 completely agree just stick with the banner battery with about 5/7 years life span from what I can see it's the easy option ? Maybe a more modern way to put it into context is it works out at little more than one individual takeaway meal a year and maybe a cup of fashionable coffee over the lifetime of the battery. But it is nice to tinker with our toys,
  11. Thank you for your research Mrp, I found similar on that auction site and have decided to try with the tools I already have. Depending on levels of frustration encountered I may end up with a set. Ralph
  12. Thanks Ian, I'll have a look when I do it (didn't get time today) and if they are uncooperative I may well take you up on your offer. Ralph
  13. DennisA, thank you have just found the YouTube video I'm sure you're referring to. Its a little tricky even when you've done it before! the video says
  14. Jonathan thanks for the link. I've just had a good look and I'm sure I've got some jeweller's screwdrivers and other tools I can use to ease the retaining barbs inside the connector blocks and with a little luck get the job done. Ian, (Wrightpayne) very kindly gave me some longer wishbone bolts needed to accommodate the headlight bracket steady bars. I'm collecting the brackets from the powder coaters tomorrow am, so unless grandparent duties interfere I should be able to get the job underway soon. Ralph
  15. Thank you both, Jonathan, I'm hoping to simply disconnect and then reconnect the fittings when I've re-threaded them in to the replacement brackets. I expect the wires are going to be long enough but I know these thing rarely go this easily! If you know differently please advise. Ralph
  16. Help required please, Not sure Econoseal is the correct name for them but I wish to remove the connectors on the headlight wiring without damaging them so I can reposition my headlights on some older style up and back brackets. First question has anyone else done this removal moving the lighting position either way? Secondly what tool or improvisation was used to do it and if a specific tool were used where can I get one? Thanks in advance once again Ralph
  17. Cheers Ian, just in from a dry salt free blat. What a great start to the year? im on it ! Ralph
  18. Blue C7 Thanks for trying I'm sure there will be others. Merry Christmas Ralph
  19. Thanks Nick, but I think that I'll wait for a while and see if any turn up that don't require powder coating. Ian, yes those are the ones I require with the steady bar as would have been fitted to most cars in the Noughties. thanks for the offer's and the help Ralph
  20. Merry Christmas to one and all ! I know a lot of club members have gone for the updated forward lower type of headlight brackets for their cars in place of the older style. So I was wondering does anyone have a set of the up and back earlier style headlight brackets to fit an 1998 onwards imperial S3 in really good condition they would like to sell? TIA. Ralph
  21. If you are still looking I've just seen a car for sale on that online auction site. McMillan motorsport have it and it's an ex racer for sale with what appears to be a nice spec and aV5. Hope this may help you?
  22. I'm an ex biker and I know nippynormans for their excellent BMW gs accessories. They always have given great value for money.
  23. Thanks for the link,I'm now set for some winter fun and games when the package arrives
  24. These are thoughts I have had for years with motorcycles as well as the Caterham only wanting to do the right thing. Good fuel a little extra pressure in the tyres making sure not to leave the hand brake on so using wooden chocks just in case it goes for a drive on its own and roll it back and forth so the tyres don't flat spot. Doing these few simple things and with enjoying a non essential regime of winter servicing and polishing and in the case of the seven as GulfSeven says a protective coat between the the skin and chassis I have never had an issue with any vehicle I've owned and to be honest you could probably do less?
