  1. If it helps there is someone on eBay selling a set of four Item number 264065457228
  2. Thanks again for all the advice it's going to make life easier without learning the hard way
  3. Cheers Steve, when I speak to Think do I need to give them the size and length the pipe or would they already know? Ralph
  4. Any help regarding a valve to stop the oil draining from the Apollo tank back to the sump when the engine is turned off would be usefull. I have read here somewhere about such a valve but can't find it again. if anyone could tell me where in the set up it fits and where I can get one from I would be very grateful
  5. Caterham are having another run made and are expecting the complete kits to be in by the end of this month so imminently give or take a few days.
  6. Thanks Steve I spoke to Think about two weeks ago and they definitely didn't and don't fab the tanks but are sure they can provide all other fittings.
  7. I think you could well right.i've had communication with the seller and he only has these parts, none of the other parts required to fit it and acquired them as job lot. Yes,as you suggested it being an one off fabrication if you look at the sump fitting at the base there is no nut welded to the body of it and if you zoom in it is actually round with no flats well spotted I don't now about the length of the tank but in the images it appears to be about 400 mm any one know how long their tank is ?
  8. I've decided that time permitting I'm putting the car up in the air will double check that I do actually have sooth movement on the wishbones etc, drop down then re-torque it,and start again with the ride heights. as a matter of interest how accurate are the shock mounting holes on a 98 arch chassis? the reason I ask is if I take a measurement from underneath from the base of the shock collar up to the lower edge of the adjuster if one is wound up or down more than the other side is,per say 10 mm to gain the correct weighted ride height surely that will preload that particular spring or is it normal for one to be wound higher or lower than the opposite side?
  9. I'll have a go at backing off the bolts and re-torquing them to see if it helps. rj my car doesn't have race washers fitted and I know what you mean about temptation when it comes to boingy bits ....they all ways look so trick the dearer they get and its that time of year.
  10. Yes and then tried measuring it it roughly the same spot on the garage floor.
  11. Sorry I'm late back to the thread and no I haven't considered a sump plate /bash guard. to be honest wouldn't know how to fabricate or quite where or how to install it? tonight I moved the car around and drove it up and down my drive a few times, when I re-measured the static sag/ ride heights they had all changed so much I'm not sure it's worth worrying about for road use really? there was as much as 5 mm difference on some of the corners and it was done as accurately as we could get it. I now have to much rake n/s 21mm and o/s 28 ? Any ideas or advice ? I did panic a bit and double check the sump and I have 74mm clearance.
  12. Thank you rj that is an incredibly generous offer and something I would dearly love to take you up on at some point. You make the circuit sound very welcoming and as you say the drivers employ a gentlemanly style of track conduct which is of course the way it should be as we all have to go home when we've finished playing.Sounds a fantastic plan to really look forward to. And as always another big thank you for the measurements, your relentless effort and time spent in helping me and others on the forum is invaluable ,and I'm sure I speak for all when saying your contributions and those of other members make this forum both interesting and educational not to mention make me laugh with the bit of humor thrown in for good measure. Cheers
  13. Yellow seven with black stripe or stripes driving on your own. you had turned left on that flowing junction after turners hill and were heading towards west hoathly I was the loon in the white Transit sport van that flashed my lights and waved as I made my way to Caterham cars in Crawley.you looked well wrapped up and I can tell you it was 4.2c as I checked as soon as you had passed.
  14. I've just watched that over and over!, what a circuit? and I mean good, l can see Oulten park down the start and in to the first sequence of corners as if dropping in to cascades then it becomes very Donington park and almost immediately like Knockhill. I'll be honest it's one of the most fun and readable circuits I've ever seen, when I say readable it gives good depth/distance perception on corner approaches rather like Cadwell Park,a circuit I set the fastest qualifying lap ever for a class B caterham, which I believe still stands as they dispanded the class a few years after I finished racing. Looks as if it's quite grippy as well with no floaty, dancing with the steering wheel moments? im envious and can only wish you well with a speedy rebuild to get back out. im going to watch it some more.
  15. Excuse my ignorance but I didn't realise you where flying the Caterham flag in another country. what type of circuit is ring Knutstorp ..techy ,fast flowing, flat or undulating I'm intrigued? I know nothing of circuits outside the UK other than the usual suspects that include Spa, Assen old circuit,Zandvoort and Magny-cours
  16. Oh no mate! A catastrophe,I do hope it's not to bad ...read expensive. where were you when it let go?
  17. I'm ever grateful but please rj don't tear your car to bits just for me as I will soon have the measurements either way I decide to go with parts or a full kit from cc. just a thought did you fit the cam cover part as std with Loctite or as some people have pm'd me reverse it so the nut can't come loose and drop inside?
  18. My raw material is a star .... She's put up with me for 35 years. we've got about 75 under the sump still and have 145 level with rear edge of the cycle wings both o/s and n/s. on the back what we managed taken level with the front of the rear arch is 161 o/s and 162 n/s?...hows that? we kept re'bouncing it and to be honest it kept varying by a few mm so we took the average after a few goes. Going back to my racing days we tried to set the sag as best we could by bouncing the car as much as was possible to try and let it settle with just me onboard.......have to say we looked like a pair of pi$$€d chimps dancing in a seven! I think we have a good result for a cold garage setup? team work
  19. Thank you, And my wife said there was" nothing going on this weekend"......,thanks to you that's all changed, cup of coffee for me while I sit in my best friend as don't have 11 stone of ballast and the boss can run the measurements.
  20. Yep I agree 100% just thought someone might remember. I spoke cc yesterday and the ant cav systems are supposed to be in by the end of November,in the meantime I managed to source a used tank with the sump bolt, top, bottom and top vent fittings attached. It had a few stone dings in it and a load of road salt tarnishing but nothing a few hrs going back with wet and dry,a scotch bright and a final once over with Autosol couldn't fix. Not sure whether to keep it as a spare as it cost peanuts compared to the new price on the cc web site or order the Hose kit, bottom mounting plate and a temp sender,or fit a blanking bolt in its place as I don't intend to fit an oil temp gauge and just use it.
  21. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated on a good ride height for my car. its a 1.8 k with 15 inch rims with 195/45/R15 cr 500's I currently have 75 mm between my sump and the ground (wet sump) but I have no idea of what I should be looking for in respect of how much rake front to rear measurements from just in front of rear wing to just behind front wishbone. The car has adjustable Bilsteins front and rear now and any guides to front and rear height would be greatly appreciated. it currently sits flat front to rear until I know how much to add to the rear ride height. my intentions are road use only.
