  1. Not actually aware of which pads are in the rear but I'm going to check now you've said it. Yes I will report with my findings as soon as I have some useful info to share.
  2. Thank you Anthony I will give Chris a call to seek his advice and the other person I should probably ask is Simon @ Meteor.
  3. Anyone have thoughts on this subject? The rear brakes are std Sierra ones with std pads and the proposed usage will be mainly road. The current pads appear to be bright yellow so without removing them I'm assuming they are ebc yellow stuff. A final thought is when I make a decision on the next set where is the best place to buy them from? Ralph
  4. Yay! All sorted.Today I received another led unit and shot out to the garage to plug the thing in telling myself "you just know it won't work" but it did.I now have a lovely looking set of Wisamic led headlights that work. Thank you again to everyone who offered ideas and support,it's what makes our club invaluable at times like this. Ralph
  5. That,s something I will be doing when I get the headlight working.
  6. SM25T,Sorry meant to say yes the original lights when reinstalled work fine so in all probability is a faulty led unit.
  7. So here we go. I have limited knowledge of electrics so rather than get frustrated I walked away to have little think about it. As far as first installation of the new units I connected the H4 connector and left the halo buletts alone just to see if the main lights were working. On my return to the car I decided to check the possibility of one of the light units being faulty and sure enough one of them connected to either side works fine, high and low beam and no permanently on high beam indicator. I disconnected it and tried the other unit either side and the problem is there on either side, only high beam and a permanently on high beam indicator so I believe one light unit is faulty. if I connect the good unit all fine but as soon as I connect the other one as well the problem reoccurs on both sides. Hopefully a replacement unit will resolve the problem. As always thank you all for the input and I shall keep you all up to date with progress.A new unit is now ordered and should be with me tomorrow. Ralph
  8. Final thing I've noticed is that the entire unit is illuminated all the time it is supposed to illuminate one half on dip and then swap to the other led's when full beam is selected.
  9. Nothing comes on when I select side lights on the switch they only illuminate when the second position is selected and then only full beam.
  10. I have replaced a set of gemzoe LED bulbs with these and Daves worked perfectly when installed. The new units use the same type of three spade connectors as the one ones.
  11. Hello John I missed your reply. no,it's full beam or full beam on either high or low?
  12. Hello Johnathan update, I have layed the units out so I can see them and they are only doing full beam wether you put them on high or low? No I'm afraid I don't have a multimeter and no I just plugged them in as other club members I have spoken to did.
  13. I've just fitted a set of Wisamic led head lights as numerous club members have and they look great. one issue I have is that my blue main beam indicator in the speedo is permanently on with either high beam or dipped selected have I done anything stupid any ideas?
  14. Thank you everyone for your guidance and no leaks so far although today will hopefully enable me to have a proper blat and make sure. I think next time that I do the mid season oil change it will only involve the main oil filter finger filter and the pella in tank. When checking the oil level I have only ever done it with a hot engine after blat and checked as quickly as possible after removing the nose cone and turning the engine off and it's just below the baffle plate. So when the engine is cold and the oil has returned to the sump what level should it be in the tank or do you have a preferred way to check?
  15. Cover off and loads more oil thank you James
  16. Thank you, I was expecting to get the best part of seven litres from dropping the oil, now I have something to use as a reference.
  17. Thank you James Phew! my issue was damaging the cover so good to know that it's OK to have a little dig at it. One more question, which outlet do you get most used oil come from as I'm struggling with only about 4 litres so far?
  18. Good evening, Im in the process of doing an oil change on my 420 dry sumped car. The two pipes from the sump removed as is the oil filter and a Pella oil extractor at work in the dry sump tank but I can't seem to release the finger filter cover. I have tried to use a pick on it with no luck and was wondering if it is just a flat plate or is inserted in the hole as well? I'm a little reluctant to use too much force per say a screw driver as its alloy as is the sump! Any tips or tricks really appreciated. Ralph
  19. Well we managed to get to the bottom of it after putting the car up on Chris's ramp. The A-frame bushes checked and after a closer inspection with bolt removed and A-frame dropped decided they were all OK. Then we moved on to the next possibility as suggested by 22daz and bingo, there was a loose fuel tank retaining rod allowing about 4/5mm movement of the tank. After reassembly I did about five miles on roads I know would hi light the clacking noise and all was quiet. I have just come in from a lovely sixty mile afternoon drive and it's 100% quiet now. A big thank you to 22daz for suggesting the possible fix and a huge thank you to Chris for the use of some great facilities and the cups of coffee throughout the morning. Ralph
  20. Thank you for this response this is something I hadn't considered.Tomorrow morning the car will be up on a fellow club members lift and this is something that will be checked, any findings will be reported back. Ralph
  21. Thank you Jonathan I think that pretty much clarifies it for me there's a lot of detail and from what I can make of it then yes side lights are a requirement. If anyone wishes to clarify please feel free. Ralph
  22. Sorry I know this has been done to death but I have an additional question. There appears to be a good choice for complete UK road legal 5.75 units some with a halo some without. Im not overly keen on the Jal /Caterham horizontal side light appearance that runs through the centre of the light and wondered do we by law have to have a side light or is low/ high beam sufficient? The reason I ask is that Origional Caferacer offer a set for Harleys without the side light which I rather like but don't want to fall foul of the law. Ralph
  23. Update I have just given Ivaan's idea a quick go and I can see visible movement between the A frame and dedion mount so pretty sure I need to order something from Cc or Redline! Thanks Ivaan.
  24. Hi Ian, my car has a standard rollover bar not an FIA one. I can understand what you are saying but I don't think that's it but I'm going to have a good look in that area.
  25. SLR, I did inspect it and the only issue that I could find is some flaky powder coat next to the ns dedion ear. The rest looks really good with all the welds intact and no other powder coat loss.
