  2. My old factory fitted Banner in my 420 certainly had a vent pipe attached so it wasn't sealed.. My current Odyssey is, good job too since it's laying on its side!
  3. The Banner battery is lead/acid though! I've used conditioner chargers via the cigar socket when the car isn't being used for the last 3 1/2 years with no problems, just don't try jump starting the car though it
  4. Don't you just love duplicate posts , how can you delete these?....
  5. May be a total red herring but .... the early 620Rs didn't have a thermostat fitted, subsequently Caterham offered owners a retrofit solution around 2016, see Mark Ws write up https://6100ef74-38c4-4cc4-b213-902faf3c744c.filesusr.com/ugd/a3e364_2ffc471a99f8410fb2c7868da09405a5.pdf?index=true Obviously don't know the history of your car, apart from your introduction you said it was the "first" 620S 2015 maybe (?), does it have a thermostat fitted? Strange that you as the new owner are encountering these problems, you would have thought they'd be sorted. If the car is running anytime below 60 using the standard 620 map (although my understanding is that the ECU has a different temp sensor to the gauge one so one can't 100% rely on the temp gauge reading ) then it'll be running the cold start set up, ie running rich, and if doing so for any prolonged time will coke up the lambda/plugs etc. More seriously if it's happening a lot you risk bore wash/dilution of the oil on the cylinder walls which could lead to worn bores in the engine, which apparently has happened to at least one 620 owner.
  6. To shield the radiator I use plastic correx sheet cabled tied to the inside of the nose grill. About 1/3 area covered I found works for my 620R ...... however .... that's when the outside ambient temperature is less than 10 degrees i.e. winter, you shouldn't need it atm.
  7. Incorrectly routed handbrake cable vibrating from the diff will make a hell of a racket at certain times
  8. #8 Just checked mine as I was caught in a biblical storm this morning coming back from CC Gatwick, and fortunately they were dry as a bone. Given the lip/rubber seal tightness on my coils to get water down to the plugs you'd really have to be unlucky. To check..... Remove coil cover, 2 torx screws, watch out for the fibre washers that are either side of the cover for the screw Remove individual coils, undo 8mm bolt and pull. Look down hole Good luck!
  9. The first mirrors look like the standard Caterham mirrors but mounted on the IVA mounts Somebody on the forum probably has an unwanted old set sitting around if you ask. I've used the Pitking mirrors, off and on for the last 3.5 years for road use and find them perfectly adequate, Being fitted to the stanchion they don't vibrate, unlike door mounted mirrors. The rear view is narrow but enough if they're positioned correctly. The black finish isn't very weather resistant (I use my car all year round) but nothing a quick spray with a black aerosol can't correct. Incidentally you can find exactly the same Pitking mirrors on eBay advertised much cheaper as motorcycle mirrors however they don't seem to come with the required adapters to screw into the window stanchion.
  10. Try some of this stuff to hold the OEM mirror on:- 3M™ VHB™ Tape. It's also used to attach my fairly heavy dashcam in my other car, and believe me once it sticks it sticks!, assuming you've properly cleaned/degreased the surfaces first

  12. According to Caterham a Sierra diff with Titan LSD should have a working preload between 16-20 ft/lb
  13. I've found you can get the metal pins out of some of the white connector blocks by the gentle insertion of a fine needle, they normally have some form of plastic tag lurking that you can push gently to release, combined with a gentle pull on the wire, though not the waterproof black/red/yellow ones, your likely to do more damage than your attempting to fix in trying!
  14. Good to have a simple rational explanation sometimes
  15. Random thoughts...... If it ran out of fuel from a full tank after such a short time you would either have been smelling raw fuel escaping or excessively rich running (you could pull a spark plug and check condition), both I would have thought to be very obvious given the limited mileage you were able to cover. Did it actually run out of fuel, how could you tell, or did perhaps the fuel pump just temporarily pack up / fuel pump couldn't drain any more of the tank (positioning problem, unlikely but...) then by coincidence after putting a Jerry cans worth either it worked again or fuel level was OK then for the pump to work?
  16. In the old days before recycling was trendy my father used to paint the fence panels with old engine oil, I'm sure a lot of people still do
  17. As mentioned earlier in the thread, Caterham themselves confirmed back in March they were working on a solution to the cooling issue, although no timescales were given nor any further information has been forthcoming since.
  18. I've run an aero without a helmet though I wouldn't say I was really comfortable doing so, I just wanted to try the experience. You do get the occasional pieces of small grit come flying in, either hitting you or as mentioned filling up the car. Keeping a sensible distance from the vehicle in front reduces but does not eliminate the problem. The real obvious danger is taking a hit from something larger that could do real serious damage to your face or cause you to temporarily lose control of the car with potentially even worse consequences, though if you're unluckily enough to say hit a pigeon at 60mph I imagine the outcome isn't exactly going to be great wearing a helmet or not.
  19. The following makes interesting reading regarding effectiveness of wind deflectors https://fernlahone.wordpress.com/2014/08/16/experiments-with-wind-deflectors/
