  1. Apologies if this has been covered by a previous thread but I did try using search without success.. On an number of occasions I’ve found some oil collecting in the “grot” trap apparently having been pushed out from the dry sump catch tank (there are no other obvious signs of any oil leak from the engine etc). On each occasion however there has been no visible oil left in the catch tank itself apart from staining indicating it had “passed through” leaving about a 5mm “tide mark” at the bottom of the tank. I’ve checked the oil level in the dry sump, using the “new” caterham dipstick just in case my earlier visual interpretations of the oil level were incorrect but the level appears to be within the recommended guidelines. The oil pressure rises and falls with engine revs range gauge reading approx 3.5 to 5. Car is a 2018 420R with around 5000 road only miles and is booked into Caterham in the near future for its 6000 mile service, with this “problem” noted for investigation. In the meantime any ideas as to what might be happening here, it doesn’t happen all the time having checked after numerous outings, I can only assume the catch tank must be getting pressurised somehow occasionally.

  8. For the record I’ve noticed on my 2018 420r that the plenum does distort quite a bit when you blip the throttle, cant say I’ve noticed any squeaks over all the rest of the mechanical noises, lsd included, but then I wear earplugs 99% of the time

  10. Spotted from up high this morning braving the road up from Arthog to Cregennen Lakes.
  11. Just outside Llangadfan, heading in the direction of Welshpool this afternoon, didn’t get s chance to catch the reg.
  12. Looking again this morning...... Took the speedo out as well as the rev counter so could have a better look around. There were three spare spade connectors of the required feed types tucked away extreme right of the dash above the light switch presumably there for the Aces unit. Fed the DRE cable through the heated windscreen grommet opening and connected up. Works a dream!
  13. Had a look this afternoon at wiring up my newly acquired DRE shift light. Having removed the Rev counter spotted a spare green (live) and black (earth) connector in the loom. Is there a spare black/white connector lurking somewhere else? An earlier thread suggested there was but it wasn’t obvious to me though I didn’t cut any cable ties at this stage to investigate further. Thanks Sorry should have said it’s a 2018 420r
  14. Yes they are the ones, thanks
  15. Does anybody have a CC wind deflector kit (perspex pair) or an equivalent they want to sell. Thanks
  16. Thanks for all your feedback and suggestions. I must admit I’m a little reluctant at this stage to adopt the Botswana Top Gear how to drain water from a car method on a new car, though I remember many years ago owning a Hillman Avenger that I always had the floorpan drain plugs removed to avoid passengers having their feet washed every time. Sounds like it’s time for some more entertainment for the neighbours, getting my wife to spray me, sorry the car, with the hose and having a look around, noted that the heater is one of the first prime suspects!
  17. I’m 4 (albeit soggy) days into Caterham ownership (420R) so I’ve a lot to learn! On Saturday evening I was curious as to whether water was entering the car, it has full weather gear. The answer was yes with large puddles under the seats and mats. I put it down to not having the doors secured/ tucked in properly and the fact I’d left the car outside without a cover. I throughly dried it out and covered the car. After driving today on a 80mile round trip to CCs open day, with some rain on the way back but making sure all doors/seals were correctly positioned, I’ve lifted the seats/mats to find small puddles of water again. Is this normal?
  18. Hi, does anyone have a set of SVA mirror mounts they want to sell as I want to try out alternative mirror options. Thanks
