  1. I have updated my blog with details of the cabling for the Battery Master Switch. Hopefully it helps others. I think the image of the wiring is more helpful than the text. Here
  2. Thanks Paul, It is all fitted and working (including the resitor). I will update my blog with which wires go where on a Roadsport 175. Andrew
  3. I am just about to start installing a BMS partly to prevent battery drain and partly to give myself something to do over Christmas. I read the instructions in the How to Guide on this website. I have come unstuck fairly early on in the instructions and just wanted to check my thinking. Note 4 says to remove the two brown wires from the battery and connect the new brown wire etc.. However I do not have two brown wires connected to the battery, they are both connected to the solenoid. Picture Here With the brown cables already being remote from the battery would it suffice to just disconnect the battery end of the battery to solenoid red cable and connect the battery end to one side of the BMS switch. I so hope that makes sense.
  4. I have used a hair drier before to get stickers off.
  5. As DJ I went to the Uniroyal Rain Expert and I have found them a world apart from the ZV3's. I was glad I had them when coming back from France as we had monsoon conditions and the car behaved perfectly. http://caterhamsevenbuild.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/new-tyres.html

    Build time

Thanks Mucus72. I did have good intentions of using some pdf annotation software to mark up my thoughts, comments and clarifications on the build manual. I guess once it's built though it becomes less important as you want to go out and drive instead. Great if you can do it as you go as well as a blog.

    Build time

I managed a staggeringly slow 148 hours, then again that equates to 148 hours of pure man cave heaven. I think it was 156 days from delivery to getting it on the road (legally). I was advised to take my time and enjoy it and I did exactly that. I did record (very crudely) where I spent my time and I took the approach of : do a task : have a coffee : do a task : have a coffee. http://caterhamsevenbuild.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/build-diary-record-of-time.html
  8. I had the same problem in that I just couldn't figure out the fixing orientation of the cover. I also got in touch with Derek thinking I had the wrong side but I was assured I had the correct one. I have put a link to my build blog which has a picture of the cover in place. It is not the clearest but maybe it will help. Since the IVA I have removed it. I have a RHD. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I3UiEjFefcM/Uy7fMrTT4HI/AAAAAAAAAlY/IpMYZfAI5OI/s1600/small-DSCF0715.JPG http://caterhamsevenbuild.blogspot.co.uk/ Andrew
  9. Hi Mark, I was out and about around there at that time. I had not been that way before so I ended up making a few wrong turns. Did you have a red top? Andrew
  10. Dewi has put a lot of time and effort into getting the MkII right. He has not long had the TR7 so that still needs work doing. Coffee and Cars at Rhos sounds good.
  11. I was a few cars in front but you were following a kermit green TR7.
  12. I passed a happy smiling couple who were loading or unloading their blue or black Caterham near the Gelert shop in Beddgelert today. I was behind one mate in a Mk II Escort and in front of another mate in a TR7. I hope you hadn't broken down, sorry for not stopping if you had.
  13. Thanks John, I cleaned the area last week and also tightened up the pipe fixings. After 70 miles last weekend and again this weekend I have a small amount of oil coming out of the valve again but a lot less than I had before. The catch tank sounds sensible. I guess it needs to be lower than the valvle position.
  14. I have put an 8" adjustable in my tool tube to allow for those wrench sizes I haven't accounted for.
  15. Thanks Mic. Would anything need changing with the ecu. Apologies for what may be simple questions to others, it is all new to me. I have put some picture on my blog.
  16. I found a thin covering of oil on the underside of my sump and bellhousing today and so I started to look at the joint positions for a leak. Whilt under the car I looked up and saw oil covering the plastic housing (HA Valve) on the side of the engine. I removed the plenum breather pipe (Caterham part No. 30E261A) and saw that the orange elbow which goes into the plastic housing seemed to have oil coming out of the seal where it joins the plastic housing. There was also a bit of oil in the beather pipe. A few questions if I may. What is the HA Valve, is it a HA Valve? Should I be seeing oil leaking from it (I suspect not)? Has anyone seen this before? When I get back inside I will upload some pictures. Many Thanks Andrew
  17. I installed my two canisters today. Pictures on my blog. http://caterhamsevenbuild.blogspot.co.uk/ Many thanks to JK for organising.
  18. Alan, 5 speed and non LSD if that makes a difference. I may take some spare fuel one day and see if I get to 230 or 250 miles. That would give me more confidence. Andrew
  19. Apologies if there is a more recent thread but I have just found this one having had a panic this morning about only getting ~180 miles before I am well in the red on the fuel guage. I have a 2014 2.0ltr SV which I think has a 42 litre tank. However looking at my petrol receipt I then only filled up with 26.61 litres of fuel (I didn't stand there and squeeze every last drop into the tank but I did fill slowly after the pump cut out automitically so I should be pretty full up). If I did get 180 miles from 26.61 litres then that equates to 30.7 mpg which for a 2.0lt on the lanes of lancashire seems ok. Therefore can I ignore the fuel guage and go to say 250 miles given the theoretically maximum is 30.7 mpg x 42lt tank (9.237 gallons). Or, is it normal to not use the best part of 14 litres. I have to say I was dissapointed to only be getting 180 miles but it seems I should be able to get 230-250 and then fill up. What sort of milegage do other 2.0lt duratec SV drivers get?
  20. Jonathan, Just paid for two cannisters and two red bags. Should come through as reference AndrewB. I can't send you a mail as you are super popular and your mailbox is full.
  21. I was given advice by the LADS to put the jack under the nose cone. I got the bag and jack from Caterham but I think the jack is a common type which you could get from clarke or others. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zrqOaLxYUw8/U4CwrnIOjvI/AAAAAAAAAww/BF3I6__ck30/s1600/sm-DSCF1737.jpg Andrew
  22. I made some labels on the computer and printed them before using a clear sticky film to fix them to the dash. I can send you the file if that helps. I think it is a CAD file so I could get the dims right but I can pdf it if you prefer. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tsrKZLTFa88/U1KGxmWTCUI/AAAAAAAAAqU/8U3MooAnjh0/s1600/small-DSCF0974.JPG http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--iP6J_n2HyI/U1KGx2y_OCI/AAAAAAAAAqY/eGuNKmwOLzI/s1600/small-DSCF0975.JPG
