  1. I bought paint protection film from PPG when I built my car. There was a little bit of excess on the side sheets and so I used it for odd areas such as where the doors rub and on the bonnet where the stud from the door lands when the door is open. An A3 sized sheet of film should do the trick. A slight aside, I have just put TOYO R888R's on the car this weekend and I have noticed a lot more stones being thrown up onto the bonnet and the sides. On a plus side the tyres are superb and have totally changed the car, on the down side I do now have 3 tiny chips on top of the bonnet from today's drive.
  2. John, I had the same thing on mine when I built it. I removed the foam at both ends and put wider foam on there. You can just about see the foam I put on there but then again I don't get any rattles or paint scratches any more. I used the same thickness foam. I got it from Car Builder Solutions. Andrew
  3. Great news in getting the IVA. You'll soon be driving it.
  4. I have bought some 185/60/14 R888R's which I was going to use to replace my current road tyres (Uniroyal Rain Expert) on my Roadsport. However I am now thinking of getting 4 more 14" wheels and have both sets of tyres available depending on whether I do a track day or just drive around passing the time. If I go for 4 more wheels my first thought is to get the same style that came with the car, minilites. Searching through the forum it seems it is critical get the offset correct and PCD. Is it a case that it is best to measure to be sure or is there a standard offset. I have seen ET24 mentioned but also ET23. Is it a big deal to use one or the other. I guess given the way it is measured you wouldn't want to stray to far from the correct size.

    IVA

I was ok with 4 point in oldham in 2013.
  6. John, I have the Uniroyal Rain Expert 3's on my car at the moment. The rubber is very soft and I find they stick well in the dry. I also drove through a monsoon in France last year without any twitching or slipping from them. It is worth bearing in mind that my only other experience with tyres on a Caterham were Avon ZV3's.
  7. When I built mine I had a dodgy speedo reading. It turns out that the earth needs to be very close to the sensor. There is a workshop note covering this. I trust this has been done already with your car but worth checking. My blog speedo fix page is here
  8. I was just checking where tomorrow's rugby match is for the eldest and when checking the street view on google maps I came across a blue seven. Brewery Drive, Huddersfield.
  9. I really enjoyed it Marcus, thank you. Andrew
  10. Hopefully a picture of the key is below :
  11. Does anyone know the make of the Caterham Battery Master Switch Kit? I am after a spare key but the spare key on their website looks different to the one I got with the kit. Is it a case that they are all the same? Caterham Kit here My key has the letters ENG on and an electrical / lightning strike symbol on one side.
  12. The second and third images in the link here show where I put my 12V socket. Wired to the battery via a fuse so I could trickle charge the battery.
  13. Monday at 6pm ish. I was in the grey Volvo.
  14. Sunday 11.45. I was in a pair of walking shoes !
  15. I wonder if they could have a simple tick list on the download section where you pick your car (e.g. SV or not), engine (e.g. 360 or 620) and any extras (e.g. spare wheel rack or quick release wheel) and it compiles a single pdf specific to your build. Regardless of the above, the new guide looks fantastic.
  16. That would be me. I was traveling with a light blue Mark II escort and kermit green TR7. Sadly the TR7 overheated and was trailerd home from the Llyn Peninsula.
  17. I headed that way this weekend ready for the Taith Eryri tour on sunday. My reg is MX14 but my car is green and yellow.
  18. I am in Ramsbottom. The nut is in the post (according to ebay) so it should be here by Wednesday.
  19. Thanks Paul, I have ordered a couple of ebay. They are coming all the way from Wigan.
  20. I leant against my spare wheel on the car today and it moved (a lot). Upon closer inspection it appears the nut and washer on the spare wheel boss had worked loose at some point. From a crude measurement of the spare wheel boss, it seems I need a 5/8" UNF. Before I order one from ebay can somebody confirm if this is correct please. http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=1280
  21. I would love to attend as Anglesey is a great track. Sadly my non FIA roll over bar (which sits miles above my head) is not deemed appropriate by the club. Oddly, the chap in the white helmet and yellow car on the third tab of images on the home page, doesn't look too safe to me despite his FIA roll over bar. <Looking for a can of worms smiley>
  22. I recieved pack B with my Roadsport 175 SV.
  23. Mine is indeed the Caterham standard 5 speed type 9. Everything works a treat and so shouldn't complain it's just a tad frustrating to lift off in 4th and sometimes 3rd and get what sounds like a bag of bolts bouncing around in the gearbox. It's not the end of the world but I do quite fancy the challenge of understanding a gearbox but wouldn't want to do so if I am likely to balls it up or make the over run worse. Many thanks for the replies.
  24. Has anyone purchased one of the kits from SPC and installed it themselves? Is it easy so long as you take your time or one of those jobs best left to those who know what they are doing. Do you still get the over run noise with the SPC kits? Do you get over run noise with the Mazda box? Thanks, Andrew
