  1. I suspect this is what you need. Are yours faulty?
  2. All done, that was easy. I cut down one of my spanners [fortunately I have duplicates] for the nut closest to the engine, made the job a cinch, primaries still in place. I already had a shim on the problematic stud but shortening it would be a better solution. I might well look into that when I refit my own starter. On a seperate note, I looked into to opportnity of a lightness upgrade. My original starter weighs almosrt bang on 3kg and the spacer plate a further 300g. I notice the Brise upspec one is heavier so I wont be doing that. A refurb will do for me! Pic below of cut off spanner* [to miss the top chassis rail] which I hope might help someone else. Cheers, Julian *make sure you choose a spanner with a head slim enough to pass in between the front of the stud and the body of the starter.
  3. Top bloke Daniel, good to have you back. An earlier adopter to LiPo weightsaving, I have been running mine for 16 months now without issue. Its got to be the best bang for buck in Seven weightsaving there is. Love the CF plate on top. Julian
  4. Thanks for the advice. I am going to remove the starter tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know how I get on. Due to kindness of Boss and a fellow club member I have a starter to borrow and fit whilst mine is off and being refurbed. Thanks chaps
  5. Hello Tony Was that the reference for the Magneton 9141 380's solenoid?
  6. I found a local auto electrics place that does rebuilds. I have emailed to ask if I remove it how quickly they can turn round a refurb. Does anyone know if I have to remove the primaries on an S3. I need to get another blatfix this weekend!
  7. My solenoid has started playing up. I have the Magneton 9141 380. Can I buy a solenoid on its own, if so, where please? A part number would be useful Also, can I replace the solenoid without removing the starter, and/or can I remove the starter without removing the primaries?
  8. Hi It probably was you Richard. You should know by previous experience I am no good with colours in twightlight Be good to meet someday Cheers
  9. Going north, just past Cowden crossroads. The B2026 is a great road, shame about the traffic both ways. Super weather too. Hope you enjoyed your blat i waved from my Blue Seven going the other way. Cheers
  10. From what I saw yesterday, Alan needs to get his can opener out again!
  11. Hello Neil, welcome! I reckon you should attempt to do the job yourself. Sevens are all about DIY IMO, and this is a nice simple job that you should be easy to do successfully. Just take your time, work methodically, plan your work and ask questions if you are unsure. Good luck
  12. Its definitely the switch/button thanks.
  13. *thumbs_up* *big grin* smilie
  14. John, I am sure if it can be done, I can do it! But can it be done is the question... My key ignition switch does nothing beyond the "powered up" setting. The wiring is good, first thing I checked. I reckon the contacts in the switch are iffy.
  15. I have the standard red starter button. This morning I went to start the Seven for a blat and, horror of horrors nothing happened. After some frantic checks because i didn't want to miss my blat, I pressed again, rather more "positively" and "contact" was achieved. I recall this may have happened last year too. Is the button something I can disassemble and clean or should I just buy a new one?
  16. Ok, so they are Ford, thanks. Shouldnt Ford be American, not English?
  17. There are 2 different live axles and one is the same as the De Dion?
  18. Yes thanks, but I don't know what they should be for a Live Axle?
  19. How do I determine whether wheels are suitable for a live axle or De Dion please?
