  1. It must be the sender. With ignition switched on it falls back to zero when unplugged. It was strange the way it failed, gradually reading hotter and hotter until I got to a point where I could not believe it anymore. Home now thanks, stirling support from Bob, shelleyb helping me out in my moment of insecurity! Looks like Ill be onto Redline again in the morning.
  2. Yes twas me, broken down [well actually not, but being cautious on a dodgy gauge reading].
  3. Hi It must be the sender! What a coincidence, it had to happen at the same time as my upgrade. Do you know if its a standard Rover part and if its easy to get? I need to get one fitted pronto since I have a flat floor session at PGM next weekend!
  4. the engine must now be stone cold but the sender is still reading 120+ after 1.5hrs i wonder if there is an airlock at the sender but it still cant be hot in there? Engine is cold all over to touch!
  5. Post Jenvey install, yesterday did 85miles without issue, today, 7 miles from home temp rose to 100 so i stopped in a layby and switched off and the temperature kept going into the red 120+. It still reads that after nearly an hour. How long will i have to wait until it cools down? Coolant in the expansion tank is not even hot, nor was it! All i want to do is get her home, 7 miles but don't want to risk any damage obviously!
  6. Saturday 27/2/16 update TB's balanced, ECU tinkered with exactly as Oilys instructions, idle perfect, cold and hot start perfect. instant throttle response, no hesitation, no hiccups. She flys.
  7. I was in my Aero'd Blue Seven, we exchanged You were going South towards Ditchling mid-afternoon.
  8. As Thursday night I am sorry I missed your thread but pleased its all coming back together. I guess this is a wake up call and you need to treat yourself to something to overcome your saggy front end before it happens again.
  9. Maybe its the location of Callum's garage?
  10. 7 dreams and aspiratons... More power - done More carbon Less weight - getting there a return to CR500's a bike engined Seven
  11. On Saturday 6th of February I set about fitting the throttle bodies to my engine. All went well, a little bit of careful port matching. I had asked Oily to prepare the Jenveys for me so the majority of the work was done. All I had to do was a little bit of smoothing to the cylinder head to match the Jenvey's exit profile. I spent hours loosly assembling them to check alignment and disassembling and working away at the port repeatedly until the proflies matched perfectly. I also removed the old ECU and prepared for the installation of the Emerald. I had been very fortunate in receiving the offer and overseeing / assistance of another club member to finish off my engine. So, on the following Saturday, trailer dispatched and we were on our way to his super, spacious and well equipped garage in readiness to start the big work. On arrival we fitted the new engine mount to raise the engine [and quickly realised we would have a problem with the engine now being too high] and stripped down the engine ready for the upgrade process to commence. On Wednesday 17/2 evening I went round to try and move forward the engine height problem. I removed the new mount and refitted the original and worked out the spacer required to sit the engine at the correct height so Bernards airbox cleared the chassis rail and the bonnet. It turns out that was an 8mm spacer if that helps anyone. We made the spacer up, sprayed it with galvanising spray and fitted it. On the Friday 19/2 I shot up to see Oily after work and picked up my new cams, injectors, cam belt and tensioner. So, Saturday the big day arrived. 9.30am prompt I arrived ready to start work. We ended up needing to machine quite a lot of the head away for the arc of the new cam profile, particularly on the low side of the exhaust which needed a few mm. Eventually, after an hour or so's work and around 2 hours clean up operation, we were back to moving forward again. Cams were fitted back in, timing set and crank pulley, belt and alternator reinstalled. The next day [sunday 21st] first job was to double check the timing which we pronounced spot on after a short while. And then onto the reassembly exercise, Checking, double and triple checking every last bolt was correct etc.., topping up the coolant. Then onto the ECU. Now, that was a whole different ballgame. I have a lot to learn on that! Oily was kind enough to help a couple of times and shortly after we had her back up and running. So, on the trailer and she's home. Next job is to start playing with the idle and balancing the TB's. Hopefully this Saturday morning coming after an hour or so, I will be back on the road New engine spec. EU3 1.8K series, Oily's K13 head, Piper BP285H, Jenveys, CF Autoteknix airbox, beige injectors, Emerald, CC 4-2-1 decat exhaust.
  12. Bought new by me. Fitted by Oily in October, removed yesterday. Perfect. £250
  13. Hi John i bet your car is awesome now it has ITB's. I know how much everyone raves about the step change in throttle response, your Seven will fly . On the K there is popularity for verniers to finetune timing. Is that part of your package, or indeed quite so necessary on a Duratec?
  14. It's a spacer so its just space, hence no gravity = no weight...
  15. Pleased to say that this evening I managed to get my airbox fitted using the XPower/VVC original bracket and an 8mm spacer on the offside engine mounting. I have around 3-4mm clearance over the clutch cable and about 5mm clearance from the bonnet. Note to anyone scratching their head as to why it is so tight compared to what they may have, Bernard now makes the airbox bigger than it used to be, I understand to facilitate longer trumpets.
  16. From Lipanskivrh [1965m], Triglav National Park, Slovenia last year. Stunning place, lovely people!
  17. JK err'd. I don't believe it! Redline at Caterham please.
  18. Have fun today John, it will be very special trip home. Appears like it will be a good day for you weatherwise too. Watch out for the speed camera just down the road from CC My engine is now stripped down awaiting some parts* to arrive. Really enjoying getting my hands dirty too *cams, belt, tensioner, injectors, air filter and other sundries
  19. That is so generous thankyou Alan, however someone else beat you to it so my little motor is being swept away in the morning... and will return with a bit more attitude.
  20. John, I am a wage slave and I dont have a garage [only a glorified car port] so weekday progress is non-existant. Alan, Dave did a very nice job cleaning the bits when he reassembled my engine so it is not too dissimilar to Superwhite R's [should we call him Daz or Percy L ]
  21. Thats the same as my XPower was Ian, sounds correct.
  22. Oil pickup should be ok then, phew. The new bracket arrived today which appears to raise the engine by 12-13mm on the RHS which will definitely allow the airbox to clear as intended
