NS
Ariel Atom near Cold Meece, Staffordshire. First time I've seen one in the road. Sadly I couldn't get a photo.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted May 13, 2023 Author Area Representative Share Posted May 13, 2023 I'm certainly slow off the mark in getting photos. I rely on cars being parked up.As for an Atom, we occasionally had a visitor at Penn in one. I'm impressed by the engineering but it wouldn't be the car for me. Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted May 15, 2023 Author Area Representative Share Posted May 15, 2023 Classic Minis (as opposed to modern MINIs) don't seem to be so rare. I can't vouch that this example was originally what it currently proclaims to be but minilites are obviously an appropriate aftermarket choice. ptr_drvr
The old minis look so incredibly small these days. I do wonder if they were considered that small back in the 70s, 80s, 90s?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 16, 2023 Member Share Posted May 16, 2023 They were in 1959! I remember the launch well. The smallness attracted enormous attention. But it wasn't mostly about measurements: it was their ability to take four adults and luggage. There were lots of photos of these arranged outside the car and then inserted. The fashion element and the competition ability came soon afterwards. And weren't predicted.Jonathan
wild bill
Mine actually started yesterday. I just need another seat, a rolling road and the bonnet putting on. It IS minute compared to even modern small cars.

aerobod - near CYYC
Yes, common as muck over here in North America, Stephen. 250,000 of the Corvette C5s produced from 1997-2004, compared with only 175,000 Porsche 911 996s produced from 1997-2006 (the best selling 911 model to date). Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted May 28, 2023 Author Area Representative Share Posted May 28, 2023 Sorry, no photo (I was driving) but sufficiently rare to merit mentioning. A Renault Sport Spider at the roundabout junction of the A505 & A1198 (i.e. just north of Royston). The driver & I exchanged cheerful waves.Of similar vintage and intent to the Caterham 21 .Online picture:

Seabea23
Mazda RX8 slowly returning to dust, I have noted its slow demise over a few years on a local driveway.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted June 1, 2023 Author Area Representative Share Posted June 1, 2023 You wonder why cars are just left like that. Either look after them or let them go. There's a MINI rotting just opposite me doing just them same.
Seabea23
Yes, there is a nice Alfa going the same way on another drive near me. I suppose its often dreams and plans that never get realised when bigger issues get in the way.

opplock
#193Surprisingly common. In the early 80s I'd occasionally walk past the remains of an XK150 long since abandoned in a front garden in Streatham. A very sad sight. Prices start at around £80,000 these days.
Phil Six 7
Spotted these a few months back in a front garden in Wanstead, there were a couple of other cars in the trees too.
Nigel B
I spotted this on a driveway near Torridon in the Highlands. It was a real double take moment! Not in the best condition, but it looked like it was being used.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted June 7, 2023 Author Area Representative Share Posted June 7, 2023 I do believe that old cars should be used and like seeing them on the road. (Both of mine are 27 years old).
