  1. Didn't get a photo but there was a LHD Matra Murena in the village car park this morning.
  2. I took my 2002 1.6 k series for MOT this morning. Passed without any issues but was advised of a number of error codes when they ran diagnostics, namely: P0443 Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit P0195 Engine Oil Temperature Sensor P0141 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2 P0136 02 Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2 P0501 Vehicle Speed Sensor A Range/Performance The tester thought some of these may not be relevant to Caterham installation but was concerned about P0195. Any ideas about what is going on? Engine runs very well so no sign of problems.
  3. A pointless exercise or a wheeze for staying within mileage limitation on an insurance policy?

    dog cage for 7

I only ever took my dog out in the 7 once. Despite being in a harness, within 1/2 mile she was sitting in my lap. I've got a dog cage sitting in my garage. Bought to house a Cockapoo but she refused to use it. I've just checked and it is too wide to fit in S3 passenger bay. Also very tight on length.

    Abandoned 7?

Why would a SORN make any difference? "Your vehicle is off the road if you do not keep or use it on a public road, for example if it’s in a garage, on a drive or on private land". DVLA website.
  6. #193 Surprisingly common. In the early 80s I'd occasionally walk past the remains of an XK150 long since abandoned in a front garden in Streatham. A very sad sight. Prices start at around £80,000 these days.
  7. "Nankangs but seen a few reviews saying heavy and unpredictable in the wet." I've used them since replacing AO21s a couple of years ago. No handling issues in wet conditions including heavy rain and lots of standing water..
  8. Thanks JK. It did look over complicated for a 7. I'm aware of the more conventional methods. Back in my x/f racing days we shed wings so often that tie wraps were the preferred option.
  9. After several years of ownership I've finally had a front wing part company with my 2002 vintage car. The mounting looks completely different to anything I've seen before. Was this ever a standard fitting? The wing was bonded to two of these plates. The weak point proved to be not the bonding but the metal plate. The other half of this one is stuck fast to the otherwise undamaged wing.
  10. I've done about 400 miles on NS2Rs including one trip in near monsoon conditions. In my opinion they compare favourably with the AO21Rs I'd used for 25 years. No - not the same set for 25 years. When I was looking for alternatives Rainexpert 5s weren't available for 14 inch wheels.
  11. "adhesives work much better when they're warm" Don't try sticking a number plate on to two sided tape with temperature less than 10 degrees. I speak from experience but I did find the plate two days later while out on a bike ride.
  12. After almost 6 months I'm still very happy with NS2-Rs. Road use only in conditions ranging from dry to monsoon.

    Car security

My first 7 had a start button and could be driven away by anyone with a cutoff switch. The car was regularly parked all day in Paddock at Brands Hatch where a couple of hundred people had such devices. I never worried about it being stolen.
  14. I posted the following on Sunday re NS2Rs. "I've now done about 150 road miles on NS2Rs (14") and am very impressed. Especially so with wet weather performance after 20 mile drive to Brands Hatch yesterday morning. Conditions started as "take the tintop" weather and after 10 miles or so encountered the aftermath of a cloudburst with road completely awash in several places. No loss of grip or twitchiness even in serious standing water. In both wet and dry conditions I am driving with same confidence as I had in AO21s. I'd been using them for 25+ years including race use in early days."
  15. T'was the other MMC 7. A really enjoyable drive to Brands Sunday morning, even the cyclists didn't hold me up. Saturday morning's drive rather different. Encountered the aftermath of a cloudburst at northern end of 7 Mile Lane. Excellent for testing wet weather capability of replacement tyres. Passed with flying colours. Mike

    R888R v NS2R

I had 14" NS2Rs fitted on Saturday. Two outings since then, total 50 miles. So far very pleased. No noticable difference to AO21s, if anything smoother ride. Mostly B road and minor road usage, a couple of miles on dual carriageway, rock steady at indicated 90. Need to go out on a wet day of course.

    R888R v NS2R

I think the only width available in 14" is 185. #1 PM sent.
  19. You've doubled the number of 7 owners in Marden Motor Club. I haven't received your subs yet. Look forward to meeting you when we can resume meetings at West End.
  20. Not me but is your car R300SAT? I've seen you out and about several times and posted here in October.

    Tyre pressures

#11 abbreviating and adding "ie". Must be Australian.
  22. I saw that but I suspect those pressures are too high for a 7 weighing 250kg less.
  23. I've just ordered a set of NS2Rs after working out that my AO21s are more than 6 years old. Any recommendations re type pressures?
