Dan R
Looking to purchase a trolley jack and wondered if anyone had any recommendations, or ones to steer clear of? I was looking at the following type of model - https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tja15r-light-aluminium-trolley-jackhttps://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj2-5lp-low-profile-garage-trolley-jackhttps://www.sgs-engineering.com/tja25-aluminium-trolley-jack(hopefully those links have worked!) SM25T
Clarke 1.25t lightweight alloy jack from Machine Mart. Low entry. Just does the job. .
Graham Hutton
I've got the second one on your list and it's brilliant. Lifts high enough in one go to get the car up onto my mobile axle stands and really controllable. Quite a big bit of kit to have around though and is pretty heavy but if you have the space, go for it.
Dan R
#3 Thank you ... i was leaning towards this one and realised that it was on the substantial side! Looks like it has a really good lifting range too. Thanks for the heads up on the Clarke jack too!
Area Representative bluenose Posted May 27, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted May 27, 2021 I have the first SGS one on your list. Works well with the Caterham. Struggles with the tin top.

John Vine
Just come across this thread. Very timely, as I'm looking for a replacement for my old Halfords 2.5T Chinese jobbie. It must work with both the tintop and the 7, and be low-level entry, so thanks for all the pointers.I went for the SGS 2.5T (#2 in post #1).JV
PACR
I've got a Halfords Advanced 2T. Using the club discount saved a couple of quid and it's got a three yr guarantee. Works well with a Seven and also lifted a Mini high enough to put on a rotisserie. Very heavy so only suitable if you can roll it around your garage. John Vine
I've got a Halfords Advanced 2T.If it's this one, it's amazingly similar to the SGS 2.5T, and far, far better than my old and heavy 2.5T.JV

7 wonders of the world
I think you will find Draper, Sealey, SGS, Halfords all use the same jack.........My old Halfords 2T £30 one is still going strong and is light enough to carry around too, I'm tempted by the Advanced one though, signifiantly greatly lift.
