abbot
Just been doing a couple of jobs on the car and I have found that the drill set I have is next to useless. I ended up raking through an ods and sods box to find some discarded drills to do the job.Looking for recomendations for a drill set for cutting steel. No need for wood or masonry drills. Member Jonathan Kay Posted July 31, 2019 Member Share Posted July 31, 2019 Handheld drill? I normally use Bosch HSS, but recently had a job that defeated them. Bosch "Cobalt" were much better. NB safety precautions.Jonathan

paulalexander1963
Depends what you are drilling but stepped cutters are great for a lot of jobs, but cobalt are good, buy from trade suppliers ideally,I think car builder solutions used to do half decent drills at sensible money
AdamQ
I've always been hopeless at sharpening drill bits 'by eye' on a bench grinder so bought one of these recently:https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0001OZH7Q?ref_=pe_3187911_248764861_302_E_DDE_dt_1and have been pleasantly surprised - it's given a new lease of life to a load of my old bits.FWIW ... patibbitts
Here's a tip....... Do NOT buy the drill sets advertised on Ideal World TV shopping channel - they are 100% useless! Yes, they replace any breakage for 10 years, but in every instance when I've used a drill for whatever purpose (drilling wood steel, alloy or brick) - each and every 'cobalt' drill tip has broken - Mohamed knows why I purchased them, as we all know the sales people on there are proffessional liars. Cost £5 post each time for replacements! Must be old age.
