ste
I cracked the NSR carbon arch on my car and want to replace it. I realise that getting a good match with the opposite rear arch from a different supplier will be all but impossible, so I'm willing to buy both sides.I bought a set from Westermann Motorsport 3 months ago and they finally arrived today. Unfortunately the quality is appalling and I'll be sending them back. What they claim as a carbon arch is actually a heavy, thick lump of GRP with a carbon strip over part of the top face. So, where do a I source a set of good quality carbon rear arches, or is direct from Caterham for ££££ my best hope? The price of the Caterham ones puts me off, but also that my car is a K series and the new Caterham arches don't have the near-side lower cut out.Alternatively, does anyone have a genuine Caterham original NSR arch from a late-'90s for sale? Thanks!
Alan Bowler
I've ordered a pair from kit car direct. Waiting for delivery (they are made to order so a few weeks). Says "pre preg" and price seems ok. Hopefully the quality will be good.http://www.kitcardirect.co.uk/caterham-rear-wheel-arches-carbon-pair.html
ste
Nice tip Alan, thanks. How long away is your delivery? Would be great if you could report back once you receive them.

ste
Thanks Simon. Nice coincidence, I called into PGM and they advised I speak to you. I then phoned you before I'd seen that you'd posted in here. Thanks for the chat, look forward to hearing about availability.

BeingOriginal
AlanHave you received these arches now? what's the quality like? I'm in the market for a set of carbon rear arches myself.Dan
ste
Yep received them and the quality is good. I've got a buildthread on pistonheads. I'd have done something on here instead but the forum software makes that kind of thing quite difficult and there isn't really a relevant section for a buildthread to fit. Pics etc in here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1721704&i=
Alan Bowler
Still waiting for mine...
Alan Bowler
Mine arrived - suppliers supplier had an oven issue, but kitcardirect offered me refund if I didn't want to wait. I'm happy with the quality - some small marks but look very good and no fitting issues for £400 a pair.
BeingOriginal
Thanks Alan, trying to decide between these @ £400 and the Meteor offering @ £612.
MikeMolloy
That's very interesting! I was also looking at the "kitcardirect" offering, as 400 quid is a lot more reasonable than the £1068 that Caterham are asking for the OE parts.Alan - can you confirm these are proper pre-preg parts? Do they actually weigh in at the claimed 700g? Thanks!
Alan Bowler
They weighed 850g. I can live with the extra 150g. I'm no expert on pre-preg vs. wet lay - but as they are advertised as pre-preg. Its shiny rather than matt - does that mean its wet lay? A few marks, and a long delivery time due to an oven issue, but I'm very happy with them and might order front wings from them to replace my tired ones.AB
Area Representative Bizzielizzie13 Posted July 28, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted July 28, 2018 At the 60th Event Premier Power were showing some Carbon wings that looked very good indeed, I've not seen Simon's (Meteor) but his service is usually very good too. MikeMolloy
Alan - thanks very much for posting the pic. The wings look pretty good to me! (Certainly better than my stonechipped-to-death OE fibreglsss versions...)I note the kitcardirect site lists a couple of different options. Did you get the ones labelled "k Series", which I assume have the exhaust cut out on the LHS? It doesn't say in the description (although it does mention this feature in the blurb on the GRP version!)
Alan Bowler
Yes I got the K ones, and the LHS has the cutout. I think its only needed if you have a rear exit exhaust though.
