Thornberry
Hi ive purchased the sena smh10r intercom system, Firstly anyone any feedback on these both psitive and negative? Secondly which ear defenders are best? (keeping in mind the above purchase) Id like ones that are if possible light weight and light pressure. Not sure if anyone else finds the ear isnt happy with the pressure over a few hours eg putting a small hole through the foam (or what ever its made of ease this a little without making them redundant) Regards Craig
SM25T
You want cups that are deep enough that the foam or speaker doesn't press on your ear. The yellow Peltor Optime 1 are way too shallow. The black and red Optime 3 are ideal.
Thornberry
Thanks very much for the advice. Any ideas if popping a small hole would release the the feeling of pressure?
Steve Pearce
I wear a noise-canceling headset in the air for up to 15 hours at a time, it doesn't matter how well they are made and what you do to them, they all hurt eventually
SM25T
You don't want to make a hole in the outer shell. If you mean scoop a hole in the foam to house the speaker .... It will help but will reduce attenuation too.
Thornberry
Does anyone have a link to a good youtube video showing the insertion of earphones and mics into ear defenders? This would be a massive help. I have looked. With no joy.

Garth
This was on Blatchat a while ago (if I have managed to get the address below right!). I followed the instructions and they worked well. The bluetooth units work a treat - I suspect the Sena bluetooth unit is similar and may be even easier to fit as it looks as though the mic is connected to the side of the unit? Good luck - sorry no time to work out how to convert this address to a link!https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B07fsH0JibAlZW50ZTVUVmZXOVE/view

Thornberry
Well the 3m headsets arrived today and instantly the wife hated the pressure so rather than send them bk whats the best way to release some of this pressure? I realise in doing so this makes them almost void of their purpose but im happier to have something than nothing. :)
Area Representative gileshudson Posted January 22, 2018 Area Representative Share Posted January 22, 2018 Can you bend the headband metal loops more straight so it doesn't press inwards so hard Craig?
SM25T
Have you adjusted the position of the cups on the headband ... ie slid them downwards ?
Thornberry
Yes bent as much as I dare lol. I might buy a cheap pair from b and q and trial a hole and gain a little insight into how it affects the pressure and possibly distorts my own voice. SM25T
I can't get to grips with the idea of drilling a hole ?
Thornberry
In the foam, so that the pressure becomes equalised with the outside pressure. (Although maybe there are vents inside to assist with this)
SM25T
It's really not an air pressure thing.
Thornberry
What do you think it is? Ive tried games head phones they arent so tight around the ears I think thats why they feel alot more comfortable and less restrictive (more air flow) . Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 27, 2018 Leadership Team Share Posted January 27, 2018 If you're fitting Bluetooth headsets into ear defenders, take a look at the Sena 3S-B. The battery and electronics are integrated into the speakers themselves and the controls are part of the boom mic which will give a very tidy install. We have the 3S-WB version fitted in a bike helmet and the quality is very good.Stu.
SM25T
You can't use light open headsets as ear defenders. Any air passage let's in noise !
