Grim Reaper
I've used Castrol B373 for the last 10 years with no problems (ZF diff)
Dr Slotter
They are different oils - SAE 80w90 (a multi-grade) would tend to give better cold weather performance in a gearbox than SAE 90 (a mono-grade), but 'hot' viscosity performance would be similar. Someone else will have to advise the suitability for those diffs.
7 wonders of the world
If you use a standard grade oil you need to first add Lubegaurd to the final drive, this reduces the driction and allows the plates in the LSD to slide as opposed to juddering during certain transitional phases of operation. Certain specific LSD oils already contain these.
The Pikey
Hi Phil do you have a plated diff or a Quaife? If it's a Quaife then there is no need to use a LSD oil so any oil to the Ford spec should be fine. Castrol B373 is great and would be a safe bet for either type of diff. Roadsport06
Here is the one I have. It is a 90 grade oil and has the LSD additive in already so no need to add one.
Cookie Monster
Thank you all for info One last question re Castrol B373 - it states that it is not to be used in road cars. Like many my car is used both road & track so do those that use it have it in their road based 7? Thx Edited by - Cookie Monster on 14 Jan 2014 22:01:
Grim Reaper
Mine is road use only, used B373 from the beginning 10 years ago. As for it not being recommended for road use, it supposedly doesn't contain Noise Suppressors ??? Fostek reckon 'in our opinion, the best and only oil to use in these plate-type LSD’s.' 2 for under £15 here Edited by - Grim Reaper on 14 Jan 2014 22:31:
