Alan Bowler
Anyone fitted these headlights onto a Caterham? Any other small and low headlight options, other than SVC? Thanks AB
Stationary M25 Traveller
Sound good - flat beam pattern - does that mean no kick up to the left ? Not good for lack of light along nearside kerb, but maybe no need for beam deflectors overseas ? Mounting ? Can't see details clearly - is it a hollow bolt mount ? Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted November 19, 2012 Area Representative Share Posted November 19, 2012 From the description, they are bike lights, which have a different dip pattern to car lights. As per the comment above, the dip is straight ahead and not to the left. I think these would fail MOT.
garybee
According to this site it looks like a flat beam pattern is ok:- MOT Manual Quote from above:- "A flat top or other alternative headlamp dipped beam pattern (not being one of the examples) is acceptable providing all of the beam upper edge, including any “peak” is contained within the appropriate tolerance band." davedlr
I saw the following on a 7 at a recent trackday, looked smart: http://www.sevenspeed.co.uk/products/venom-5-function-headlamp (No connection to sevenspeed)
Alan Bowler
Thanks all. Those "venom" lights really are 🥰 but coupled with lower brackets it gets a little pricey... will discuss with the finance controller. (and why are headlights called "Venom" and "Dominator". What happened to "Frogeye")

NoLimits
Alan I have the lights you linked to. They have been on the car now for 7 years. Not the best in the dark but then again I don;t sprint in the dark
Nigel Fox
I've got them as well, no issues with MOT, I rewired them so they there is only one earth return for side, dip and main lamps. Mounting is a solid bolt. I also made lowered mounting brackets, just a bit of steel tube with a bit of angle iron welded on the end. Headlight mounts through a hole in the horizontal, motorcycle indicator mounted on vertical face.
Mowerman
Having fitted the Venom lights earlier this year after a bit of deliberation, bit the bullet and went for it, fairly straight forward to fit but you definitely need the lowered brackets. Performance wise you stand out on the road with the daylight running lights and alot brighter at night once positioned correctly. Looks wise you either do or don't, sportier cars yes....traditional sevens no! Most people like them, mine is the car on seven speed.....it's your choice but I recommend them.... Alan Bowler
I quite like the occasional night blat, and I think the venom ones are a bit too modern for me, so I'll just go for some 5 3/4" ones. Thanks AB
