Mike Scott
Hi Guys My Duratec R500 engine dropped an inlet valve during a recent trackday ☹️, does anyone know who supplies the pistons, valves and valve seats, hopefully the conrod and crank are OK. Pendennis
Yes, why not contact Caterham Though, isn't it a Powertrain unit Valves, probably standard Mazda/Ford jobbies Want to rent an 18th century Farmhouse in Rural Somerset?

FunkySon
Mike, If you don't mind me asking can you provide some context to the failure? I'd be very interested to know what caused it and how much track use your car has seen. My R500 has quite a few track miles under its belt now so I have a keen interest in whether these cars will require regular rebuilds along the same line as the K-series cars. Thanks Duncan

Mike Scott
Hi Guys Thanks for the replies, I’ll ask CC who supply the parts, but I doubt if CC stock them as spares. Duncan, the cars done 9 track days and a few k road miles so it’s surprising it’s gone. The wisdom is that the Duratec is pretty tough and don’t need frequent re-builds unlike the K series. Dave J, thanks you could well be right. I’ll post a note on what I find when I get back home and get it stripped in a couple of weeks. Racing Snake
You Need to speak to Simon Armstrong at Ultimate Performance as they machine the R500 heads for Caterham I think he is away this week, excellent company for anything Duratec mild to wild Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Duralight R Torque 😬 Carl @ Penn 7's Caution - May Contain Nuts ! FunkySon
That's a bit disappointing to see it fail so early on. I hope you get it sorted without too much pain and expense. Duncan

Pendennis
That's right, nothing special. Trackday use is nothing to these units. Failures very rare, I think your very unlucky ☹️ Want to rent an 18th century Farmhouse in Rural Somerset?

Will let you all know what I find. Cheers Mike

CJS
Shouldn't this be a warranty call to CC ?????? New build ! No warranty for these cars once they've been on the track. Twelve months ago my R400 blew its head gasket before it had made even 2000kms. I was politely informed to go away and sort it out myself. Tazio
I seem to recall a very recent post in Pistonheads, which suggests a certain Mr Winstanley has C7 TOP, so it will be interesting to see what Dave, The Pieman has bought/built....Welcome back David
Mankee
I saw Craig's name down on the list but didn't see C7 TOP. Was expecting one of his other Caterhams, otherwise I'd have gone over and said hello, in between fixing my car.Welcome back, Dave! What do you have now?
