Andrew Hooper
Can anyone help me to find a good polish for my aluminium body - the car's that is? So far I have tried several kinds, but the best results have been with T- cut. The car was new in October 06 so I expect to have to do a fair amount of polishing to achieve a really good result - the bonnet has come up reasonably well, but the topsides, as we sailors say, still leave a lot to be desired. ☹️
rj
Does polishing make it go faster?

Simon-R
I use a product called "Peek" designed for bare metals including ally. Hard work to use but worth it in the end. See pic in profile to see how much I have to polish Simon-R

Hurtle
Mothers works very well. I have tried a lot of polishes and they all work with elbow grease, but Mothers is the polish I would buy again. Jas.
MADMALC
In order to minimise the 'black residue' when polishing put flour on your dusting/final poishing cloth. Shake out after each buffing of a small area and it will make the job easier. A bit messy but you do get an easier and better finish. Mothers Mag works very well. Andrew Hooper
Thanks for this you guys - Mothers sounds homely - I'll try that. In reply to the guy who asks if polishing makes it go faster - well - elbow grease to the factor 21 minus the square root of SFA means of course it goes faster
6speedmanual
Is the " 21 minus" in your factor a reference to the prototype Caterham 21 with alloy body? Dave21P will be along in a minute to verify....... 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
Leadership Team Midas Posted March 24, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted March 24, 2007 the stuff to use is Belgom 'Alu'. It will bring up aluminium like nothing else! You find it normally at the kit car shows - you could try the importer and see if anyone stocks it local to you (01724 281305 - taken from the bottle in the garage). You'll have to wear shades to withstnad the shine.
Leadership Team Midas Posted March 24, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted March 24, 2007 Belgom is also available form the polishingshop - just found it on Google: here
