  1. Its also designed to collapse in a shunt. The clamp will hit the bulkhead tube first and the inner will slide in, breaking the clamp force of the grub screw.
  2. Unless you are competing or they are damaged/tatty why replace?
  3. Are we not allowed to use 'nipple' anymore :-)
  4. A bit more involved if you have or are fitting verniers. There is a few degree 'slop' on the crank ribbed belt pulley when the bolt is undone. This can alter the cam timing if it moves.
  5. The caterham parts website uses the OEM part code rather than their own. Google QR1572A which should bring up options. Also, I'm sure there is a post in the archive detailing equivalent part numbers of different manufacturers - try searching said part number. Ian
  6. Ian, Many parts are the same between the sierra 5sp and Caterham 6 speed - nose/CRB guide is one of them. Ian
  7. Looks an interesting gearbox - ally cased type 9. What is the spec?
  8. Usually fitted with a cork gasket
  9. That gearbox 'nose' looks like it is for a concentric hydraulic clutch cylinder. My cable clutch has something like this... https://www.bearingkits.co.uk/Ford-Sierra-Type-9-gearbox-front-cover-clutch-bearing-tube/674.htm I found it by googling 'type 9 gearbox nose' Ian
  10. When I removed the inlet manifold on mine, when fitting the new gasket (like a big mesh of o rings) I put a bit of loctite silicon gasket around the waterway openings. I think DVA recommended this.
  11. Did you take the water rail off? I'd check that for leaks first. They can be tricky to seal as the forward support fixing can sometimes be away from the block when the flange is bolted up. When the forward fixing is tightened it can break the seal. A washer underneath the forward fixing solves it. Flange bolts can also bottom out so the seal isnt clamped fully.
  12. I have a Summit child suction rearview mirror (from Halfords) which has a surprising wide angle view for such a small mirror. Only a fiver-ish I think we bought it for the tintop so SWMBO could see the kids from the passenger seat when they were little.
  13. As 7WOW suggests - I would want it strapped to a pallet or in a ply box / bespoke cradle. I wouldn't entertain a cardboard box - simply trying to lift it the weight of the gearbox would make the card collapse. I work at a fastenings company and we always have a stack of damaged pallets that are a PITA to get rid of - just find a local company and I'm sure they'll give you one for free. Anyone local having building work done? Pallets usually go in the skip!
  14. I think we might be talking about the new fangled BMW diff

    Upgrade

Any modification from standard needs declaring!
  16. I think they are a BSPT thread so plugs should be widely available.
  17. Neil, Team Parker Racing had some wiper sets a while ago - they may have other items you need too. They're between Enderby and Desford just up the road from where Caterham Midlands were based. Ian
  18. Vittesse, the company I linked to earlier make a Mazda box conversion kit for the MGB V8 so you would think it can handle the torque.
  19. The Caterham supplied Mazda box has a different casing which I believe alters the cant (angle) of the box to engine and is also smaller to fit the tunnel. I've seen the Caterham gearboxes being stripped and re-assembled at this company.... https://www.vitesse-ltd.com/pages/about-us
